  • Very good yanks, Keep marching Johnny Home

    Ryan Townsend

    52nd Geo. Co. I

  • Cool !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • absolutely love it!

  • where youve got these drums from? im searching for these now for years -.-

  • @excelsiorbrigade what key is yall's fife in?

  • was that the year usa tried to invaid canada .

so inreturn the canadians invaded usa and burned down the white house?.

  • This is defininatly my favorite march! I could be a reannactor just to listen to this all day!

  • Hope to see you at Manassas, 7th Pennsylvania Reserves Co. H

  • that looks like fun(:

  • Very nice, video was too short, and next time tell the fellow in the yellow plastic raincoat that he's out of fashion!

  • The south willl riiiiiiiiiiiiise again

  • Farbfest.

  • I wouldn't mind playing and marching snare drums. However I play matched grip is that an issue, is traditional grip required?

  • @alexcowart Yes, traditional grip is required, you can learn to play that way pretty quickly if you're already somewhat experienced as a drummer. It's not too tough a transition and I know several people who have switched.

  • if you want to see greatness, the 21 st GA fife and drum corp are the best the confederate army has to offer!! they lead the confederate army every year at Rememberance day wknd in Gettysburg!!

  • I love the little kid, makes it more authentic!

  • Да-а... Зацените разницу между ЭТИМ и грёбаным техно... Heh! Enjoy the difference between THIS and fuckin techno "boom-boom-boom". Отличная работа, ребята! Great job, guys!

  • dang yall are good. how far south do yall make it. i would love to see yall at an event

  • @CONOR1861 we're supposed to attend a national event in Manassas, VA summer 2011

  • @excelsiorbrigade And hopefully come to NC soon....

  • @excelsiorbrigade Wow ... It's been 25 years since I attended the 125th Manassas with the 7th Illinois Cavalry. it was so hot we could only work our horses early morning and after sundown ... Temps got as high as 107 degrees ... And humid. I was detailed as a mounted orderly for the National Regiment, and rode behind the mounted officer in command. Looking back and seeing 1000 infantry marching behind us in column was a sight I will never forget. I'm sure you will have great fun.

  • @excelsiorbrigade Cool Beans my unit is planning on trying to make the long journey up there

  • @CONOR1861 Umm...we made it all the way down...1865 ring a bell?

  • @barrybolton lol so true

  • Not too bad - I did CW until my back gave out....if I would do it again, I would do VRC ;)

  • This tune could make the paralytic move forward.

  • Sounds good! Im a drummer for the 24th NC ANV and i havent picked up my drum for over a year and i miss it, i need to get back into it

  • I am a military academy (southern) grad from 1976. Give me a good military cadence percussion and I could march to hell and back. You give me a modern high school half-time and they can all go to hell and stay!

  • Wake up call!! Yah you heard me right that is a war of 1812 wake up call!! No joke when I'm at a reenactment that is what I wake up to!! Good thing I love being a reenacter!! lol!!

  • your step is off. i reenact a civil war scottish unit, the 79th new york highlanders...sorry to point out but yeah

  • @dravenik The audio and video are slightly out of sync. This is most evident when the unit marches past the camera; the snares' cutting out lags the actual movement of the drumsticks, if you watch carefully.

  • God bless the Union of the United States!

  • To those that fought and died on behalf of preserving this union, I salute you. Rest in peace.

  • Its easy to say well if the south had this or that they would've won, but the fact is they didn't have what they needed to win. No point in trying to argue hypotheticals.

  • the reason that the south lost is because they had no industry, just raw product

  • To pick up a thread, after winning the Battle of York in Canada, in 1813, U.S. forces burned the Upper Canada Parliament buildings in the town of York (now Toronto). The burning of the White House and Capitol in Washington were in direct retaliation, after the Battle of Bladensburg in August, 1814.

  • Ha, after listening to this , my 1861 Springfield rifle ain't so heavy now, shouldered on Tuscaloosa Gray wool, long live the AVC

  • well i'll admit the yankess can drum but us confederate irish are just a wee bit better becouse we have the bagpipes

  • The nortth has more Irish than the south.

  • @silvrantsbob The North had bagpipes too and all Irish regiments as they had more Irish to draw from.

  • @silvrantsbob There are no documented records of either side utilizing the use of bagpipes at any point during the war. Whatever bagpipes you use during re-enactments are automatic flaws and should have been left at home.

  • @silvrantsbob There are no documented records of either side utilizing the use of bagpipes at any point during the war. Whatever bagpipes you use during re-enactments are automatic flaws and should have been left at home.

  • @Smitheeboy94 And you must also realize that the south did little documentation during the war and just as the uniforms they wore what they had and to many of the Irish the bagpipe was a soothing sound and was played in camp and field at times

  • @silvrantsbob I thought it was the Uilleann Pipes not the bagpipes.

  • @silvrantsbob

still doesnt matter,we kicked you rebel asses! XD

  • @AragonKingofmacedon You again wow, well actually the south kick our asses they just didn't have the population to keep the army stocked up, as you can see with the number of deaths on both sides the North had lost almost 3 times the men than the south.

  • @TotalWarTactics

We still won by Gods grace! Rebels and confederates were bad,and you should watch aftershocks beyond the civil war from the history channel, after watching that, you know why I hate southerners!

  • @AragonKingofmacedon You sir are a moron. The South was defending the rights of the states over that of a federal central government. The States Made the Union, now the Union is just for the Union. 2% of people in the South owned slaves, less then 2% had more then one. People who cry out like it was some sort of epidemic are special in the head. Slavery was already on its way out and would inevitably die of natural causes without the proclamation by Abraham Lincoln, which was just another ploy.

  • @AragonKingofmacedon You're the problem with the world today. You watch one show from the History Channel, which is a disgrace, and think you are a fucking Civil War historian. Well I got news for you, you most certainly are not. You are just some dumb kid spouting ignorance on youtube, honestly I don't know why you thought anyone would give a flying rats ass that you hate southerners. Go hit the books child.

  • @AragonKingofmacedon "We"? I'm pretty sure you had nothing to do with this ass kicking that never really happened btw. And judging by your comments I'm pretty sure you come from bad stock so your ancestors probably didn't fight either. Most likely they were chicken shit politicians that were hated both North and South and started the war in the first place.

  • @EpicTrollBeastMan

I really dont care what you say,Almost all the bad comments are from "southerners"

My great grandfather fought in the 27th irish brigade, the SAME ONE that charged up to the stone wall at fredricksburg,Maybe your the one who comes from bad stock! so maybe you should think before you post hateful comments.

  • @AragonKingofmacedon 27th Irish Brigade? There was no such thing... Stop trying to know what you're talking about. I'm from Pennsylvania there isn't a southern bone in my body, my people fought in the 143rd PA in the "Bucktail Brigade". Having said that I can say as a Yank that you give us a bad name, maybe when you grow out of diapers you'll "get it".

  • @EpicTrollBeastMan

Calling me names and insulting me wont get you ANYWHERE!

I dont know the name of the regiment, all I know it was a irish brigade,I dont know on the top of my head....

I would get my family history and find the regiment if you think I dont know what im talking about. Its people like you that when I post a simple comment, you lash out like your some big know it all! Just stop posting these comments, and I will stop too...

  • @AragonKingofmacedon Cause you're wrong and a lair. Go latch back on to your mother tit and stay off the internet!

  • these guys are really good. I'm the drummer of the second rhode island and I certainly was not trained like this

  • @CWreenactor7 ... not good... they are folks! The chinese army ¸soldiers are trained, not these folks let me laught!

(chinese army parade on youtube) Go see what look like trained people...

  • "AHH...You no understand. You make self look very stupid. While you busy jack off to glorious chinese peoples army video, you not notice that the "folks" reenactors, not soldiers. You "let" ME "laught" HA HA HA HA.

Seriously, did this guy think this think these guys were an actual US military marching band? I wonder what he'd say if he saw footage of a battle reenactment:

"HA HA you american devils so stupid, you use old musket! go see what look like good weapon!"

    What a dumbass...

  • As an ambassador for all of Canada, speaking to you Yanks on 1812, I can proudly say...

    Good fight.

  • what that smell? its the smell of your burning capital ha ha. Only teasing my yankee comrades-I cracked this "funny" on another site, and a yank came back and said the yankees burned the canadian capital also in 1812-i am English and have never heard about Ottowa being burned-can any one clarify or do I assume it s a cunning yankee trick to undermine my humour?

  • Donno, but thats a unfortunate bit of history we'd like to put behind us, just as I'm sure that you Brits don't like to remember being licked pretty bad by a bunch of backwoodsmen and pirates at New Orleans :P. p.s. it's all in good fun.

  • backwoodsmen ,pirates and the French imperial navy and army-

  • getting beat by the french is more embarrassing than being beaten by backwoodsmen and pirates xD

  • tell that to the various armies that Napoleon 1 beat up to 1815-Waterloo- anyway why do you yankees slag the French off -they were your best mates then- you called in the auld enemy to beat the brits- even your cent coin s called after them -centeme ha ha

If you refer to pirates I assume you mean the attack on the sweat infested shit hole in new orleans- pearl harbour style-on Christmas day 1815.(40 years+ after indep-) The same year the worlds greatest dictator-Napoleon 1 was defeated by GB.

  • Quebec was captured in the French and Indian War, but then again, that was British and colonials together against the French. :P

  • thanks but this does not clarify the alleged burning of either Toronto (york) or Ottowa in 1812,following the burning of washington and white house.

I think we can discount Ottowa -it was only made capital relatively recently-late 19thC

I visited Quebec castle one month ago-the guide said Quebec fell to British regulars -a Scottish regiment. No mention of colonists. Can you clarify?

  • @toonmag50 they burned down our parliament, we retaliated and burned down their entire capital...white house was a mess. So they may have burnt down a petty colonial government office, but we burnt down a national government office.

  • klejones7-a US citizen on another site said the burning of washington and white house conducted by British regular troops -in a Royal Marine manner-they came from Bermuda. Can you confirm exactly what Canadian building in what city was burned -as when I was on holiday in Canada last month -everyone said-no Canadian building or area was burned.

    thanks

  • @toonmag50 well they were definetly british regulars, but we always refer to them as being one of us, so don't know their true origin. They burnt down public buildings in their capital, i.e. the white house. Us canadians are very ignorant, half don't even know we have a queen. The reason for the attack on their white house was indeed retaliation for the yanks burning down our Parliament building.

  • Why would they celebrate their loss to the Canadians ?

  • It's not an utopia: USA never lost a war... they just lets us won... that's the difference....

  • can you speak english

  • Man these guys are good.

  • i say old boy can we leave the queen out of all this ty !!

  • Hear!Hear!

  • I can clearly tell these are not canadian, there are no pipes.

  • sweet; ! A guy I taught with had a relative who was in the Anderson prison camp but I don't know any more than that.

  • I was at hamlin this year and it was a suprise to see more confederates than yanks which was a pleasant surprise considering it seens like there r always more yanks then us

  • hence the reason the Federals one...more men

  • yea the confederates would hav destroyed if they had the same amount of men as the feds

  • lol yeah, well, they didn't so...I guess that's how it goes.

  • not just man power. But what was needed the most was supplies.

  • Its Ironic. The one battle that they had MORE men than the Yankees was Gettysburg...and we all know how that turned out.

  • @RedZeroFive At most Lee's Army numbered 75,000 at Gettysburg. The Union Army had 8 infantry corps numbering 10,000 per. Their cavalry was around 10,000 more.

  • @hollywoodwerewolf Oh...well I learned

    something new today!

  • Comment removed

  • @nickrules43544 I am a historian in MI and I agree with that

  • Yeah, I know. I was apart of one of the lead units and was surprised to hear that we had 800 re-enactors that signed up.

  • for your comfort...there allways more Yanks then rebs ;) thats just the world view on it ;)

  • That's cause the yanks won lol

  • First rate!

  • who's jack?

  • good vid. but the guy in the yellow rain poncho kinda ruins the affect of the whole thing....

  • My ancestor was a Bugler with the 1st Cav, Co H and the Captain was Captain Marcus Reno.

    Tell me something new.

  • Dont try to capitalize on MY COMMENTS. Come up with your own...dumdass.

  • Gasp! what BIG BOY posting on Youtube all by himself! did YOU come up with that all by yourself or did mommy help you? Come on dude! is that the best you can do!?

  • Aah, finally. I've been waiting on you to say something substantial. You finally said something that was true and are'nt just shooting from the hip, vomitting anti-American bile. It really does get so old and boring seeing it on here when America has done so much for an ungrateful world.

  • ..........actually God, dont worry about it. The United States will save the Queen......again.

  • nice

  • In the war of 1812 the USA attacked Canada. They then received a swift ass kicking from Canadian and British forces, beofre having their white house burnt down and DC sacked. They then signed a peace treaty. How are us British evil when you're attacking us?

  • By savage spear chuckers I mean the natives who u Brits suckered w/lies, whiskey, & beads to do most of ur fighting for u. I actually in reality hold nothing against Britain or its pierce nosed pawns (I have Native American blood myself) the fact is if the war of 1812 wasnt as one sided as you'd like to make it out to be we Americans would all b talking like faggots & drinking tea, the same as u brits would be doin the "Berlin goose step" if it were'nt yanks kicking Hitler outta the channel.

  • You do talk like faggots and you drink tea. We beat the Germans in the Battle of Britain while the USA sat back with its finger up its ass. We beat the Luftwaffe against a large number disadvantage. After Germany couldn't secure air superiority they essentially gave up on conquering Britain. We just bombed the shit out of each other.

England has never been conquered and never will.

  • Is that why Winston Churchill pleaded for our help? Why dont you do a little research on something called "The Eagle Squadron" then get back to me. They were U.S. pilots who volunteered to defend "mighty England" before The U.S. even entered the war to defend you (for a 2nd time) They blazed away at the luftwaffe while a good many of your spitfires burned on your airfields. "Hi! I'm a book! read me!" Yeah, England will never be conquered...as long as the U.S. is an ally. God save the queen!

  • One squadron... do you have any clue how many aircraft the the battle of Britain involved? The vast majority were European and British pilots.

Hitler wanted to make a deal with the U.K. if we had wanted to we could have simply agreed to a cease fire or even an alliance. Then where would you launch your invasion of N Africa and Europe from? Would the USSR do so well against the whole German army?

  • Britain was vital in the war and we with european pilots defended ourselves along time before the U.S. was forced into the war. We endured bombings and scarce supplies when we could have easily switched sides.

We're not fucking Italy or france that will switch.

  • I thought the song was "Hell on the Wabash".

  • More Fifers!!!!!

  • God bless the Republic

  • Yea British-Canada thats why.Don't to be to proud.

  • Had nothing at all to do with the British Empire seizing our merchant crews on the high seas, arming and inducing the natives to attack us, blocking off our trade with continental Europe, and even on at least one occasion attacking an American warship in US waters without provocation.

  • And Canada's mistake was not noting the hypocrisy of the Divine Rights crowd...which continues to this day.

All but one of your Prime Ministers RCC since 1968? How curious.

  • You will of course notice how soundly you rotten toothed, rancid breathed, redcoats and your spear chucking, savage counterparts were thrown out of America..LMAO!!

  • Actually in 1812 the British and French were victorious. They suceeded in burning down the white house and sacking Washington. What do you mean by savage spear chuckers? That sound very racist.

  • LOOKIT ALL THEM BLUE TARGETS!

  • Ah... fighting the English.. one of the FEW good things this country as EVER done.

  • Hate the english i see? if weren't for the english were would your country be. i would appreciate if you would study more about your country and what england done for you.

  • Hear hear!

  • britain is Americas ancestral enemy. the brits stand for evil, imperialism, inbred crazy woman in a funny hat the brits all slobber over , kicking the shite out of the brits made this nation great!

  • what the hell does america stanf for every other country in the world right now. May nt be the old type of empire but the USA still had its own.

  • well said

  • Every American should be proud of this video and their country. We Americans will defend the United States of America from any enemy: foreign or DOMESTIC(a few bad apples that you find in every country). Good job boys.

  • including europe I hope, just because we share history and blood with europe, we must at all costs defend the true Homeland, the one we were born in! THE UNION FOREVER!

  • America attacked canada.........

  • And we Canadians fought back, and won the war of 1812,

and burnt down the white house!

  • you really are stupid thw war of 1812 usa won against british, canadian and germans while whod we have no one so shof that up your ass

  • it makes me march on my chair.

    Dutch guy

  • awesome.

that kids drum is almost bigger than him.

    hahaa

  • Comment removed

  • nice, I always wanted to join a civil war fife and drum corps. I play snare in my high school drum line. I just have one question why aren't they marching in time? because that would confuse me.

  • They appear to be marching in time. It is very hard to change your steps with those drums banging at your leg. Also the snare you play is different than what we use.

  • we're marching in time, the video and audio feed might be slightly off because of the internet connection and the browser's ability to sync them.

  • email me and I can point you to a local unit! (if there is one, may not be anything nearby)

  • yea drumline and fife&drum are almost 2 different kinds of rudimentary drumming, and styles of drumming. for example marching band snares are like 10 times heavier and use a different kind of sling. also the marching band play with faster tempos fife and drum usally plays with a more medium kind but anyway they are definatly playing very well

  • gr8 tune did the south use it can u let me know plz' long live the south

  • sure did.

  • a long time ago i was blessed to have witnessed a ghostly appearance on one of the gettys. battlefield monument hills.. a battle was taking place. it was a ghostly manifestation. i was driving a truck for a company at the time and did not stop and i questioned my own eyes...it was only several years later when reading a diary of a few pages from a soldier of the other era 1776, he described what he was seeing on far hill.same as me. i had to reveal this in civil war video sites, a tale is told.

  • haha! sure you did buddy, lay off the marijuana.

  • As a southerner I have no respect for the tyranical government of the Union although I have respect for every soldier that fought in the civil war, wheather he was wearing blue or grey.

  • "tyranical government of the Union", the Union wasn't "tyranical", my friend?

  • 所謂的邦交國多 少,完全是統獨問題,完全是台灣自己可以決定的,今天宣布獨立,成功,一年半載沒事,立刻會有123個國家承認,統一了更不用說,只有不統不獨,才只有 20個,而且會一直降

  • if only there were more soldiers like that, it would BETTER!

  • Long live the Union. Greetings from a Union member: Pennsylvania.

  • Wao, just beautiful. You just can't deny that the Union songs went just to the heart. Long live the Union (The United States of America) and we the people of the United States will defend it from enemies either foreign or domestic. Hurray for the Union that God established.

  • im in the 6th north carolina i love the tune old 1812 its a good drill song or battle entry tune

  • ey ken have u figured out how to play that song "down by the beach" yet? :p good job.

  • we finally got "far far away" down and were working on playing "way over there" before we figured it out

  • I remember when they played this song. My unit was coming back from drill when we heard this so we just march to that tune. Great job, boys. Hope to see y'all there this year.

    Captain Morrison

    5th VA

  • be sure to say hello when you see us!

  • I'll try, but you know the rules: no talking to the enemy. That's why I talk to them here. See y'all soon.

  • we have two sets of uniforms ;-) we could certainly march with you anytime you like, or you could march with us in a parade and hand out recruiting flyers for your unit!

  • Those are not bad ideas. We could use a fife and drum corps at Hamlin. I would be honored to march with y'all. I don't have a Federal uniform and the one my CO has is Fed Cav, but I doubt it fits me anymore. We also need members real badly. We have about 20 adults and 2 youth.

  • GREAT

  • Free Trade and Sailors' Rights!

  • Keep your thilthy deceitful paws off Canada then.

  • That's not what the Union believed...Lincoln, the GOP, and America until 1930s what dead set against the middle class destroying 'free trade' - It's not where you can buy the cheapest, but pay the easiest---President McKinley, who also served in Civil War on Union side. The South wanted 'free trade' to be dominated by Britain, rather than trade with their northern brothers.

  • HI EXCELSIOR BOYS WELL DONE. I am an Aussie whose GGgrandfather was a Union drummer with a New York regiment, that is 71st new york. Ya done me proud !!! Paul Hogan would say GOOD on Ya MATE or good on ya Digger

  • got any pictures of the old fellow? always interested in seeing them in person

  • great! can never get enough of that old marchin tune!

  • Amen.

  • jealous, jealous. if you guys think we're ever gonna feel inferior to the British, you deserve to have us laugh in your faces. England is a great country, but there's never going to be a country as great as the USA and don't expect us to believe that something that happened 200 years ago makes us the bad guys. Canada's still a sorry mess, we'd have done them a favor. get over it!

  • GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

  • The Queen is one of the Richest person on WELFARE. She gets paid for doing nothing. They spend their entire life trying to Justify their Existence. Her lifestyle paid for by British Taxpayers money.

  • Hmmm....so impressment of Americans against their will; enslaving them into the Royal Navy, had nothing to do with the war. Cute revisionism..."wot-wot"!

  • Britain might have been able to conquer some major US cities but just as in the revolutionary war they could never have occupied it all nor controlled the populace. In that day it was pretty easy to harrass an army and wear it down as the south did during the revolutionary war, and Britain was already suffering crushing debt and could never have afforded another protracted war. As a comparison US population~7.5 million British population~10million.

  • we are not losing the war even the worst america hater cant admit we are losing, if anything we are going through them like shit through a goose. of course if takes money to fund and run a war while helping a country rebuild. its pukes like you that deserve to been victims of the barbarians in dirty night shirts. never forget what cicero said about the enemy within!

  • They americans were little crap faces thinking that they could easily takeover Canada. The americans thought we were going to just fight the Brits, cause we didn't we stayed loyal to the end unlike you american bums who rose up against the British, accept for the loyalists.

  • last year was the 2nd time i learbed about the americans fighting the british (the American R.) and this yr learning about the 1812 war and it makes me so mad haow they pushed us around and disrespected us and r rules!!! NOW WHOS IN CONTROL BRITIAN!!??? WE ARE ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD. (ARE ARMY NOW COULD EASILY DEFEAT THE BRITISH ARMY!!!

  • Calm down, Sparky. Britain is our best friend now.

  • lol yeah and we're your best and only real damn friends in the world now ;) and anyway it will teach ya for invading Canada in 1812 :P you did actually start that war.

  • So forcing American sailors to join the British navy, by hanging them if they didn't had nothing to do with the war at all? Really? Oh, and blockading American ports and stealing our ships had nothing to do with it either, let me tell you.
