This would have worked for Emmerich's other, worse films, but this movie has a strong third act in which the people strike back. The destruction is not the entire film like it is in 2012.

It's no big deal- I'm just defending one of my favorite movies because it's often considered just a destruction movie, when it's really an action adventure movie at heart I think.
