@raptorx890 It being bad is a fact for the most part. leaving unfinished plots is bad. One sided relationships is bad. Alliens is bad. The word Gundam has a certain meaning, and the movie totally ignored it. Sure you can stick Final Fantasy on a game thats still good, but it runes the genre.

P.S. Calling it garbage was wrong, but its generally takes away from the Gundam Series.

@martin20xx setsuna talking with els was a two-way communication which cleared up the whole misunderstanding that happened in the movie.

The flower is the embodiment of understanding, peace and end of war for setsuna(as hasized through the end of season2 and the movie dream sequence).

ELS just saw that idea in his mind and replicated it with their own mothership in order to convey that message of end of this war to humans the only way they learned just now.

This is a very bad sign for the Gundam series, Aliens!! for the first time in Gundam history right? I guess they couldn't fight the temptation of adding aliens to the mix. But then again, innovators and newtypes are not realistic. Although I still prefer Gundam universe to be strictly human vs human. But this looks good. We already had alien in gundam. TurnA in TurnA Gundam was built directly for "inter-stellar" combat and TurnX had "extra-terestrial" technology implemented in it. Not to mention the masquerading primal alien animals in the moon.

Then we had jupiter empire in Crossbone Gundam(humans from earth evolved differently in jupiter) and space-whales in gundam seed.

Gundam always played around with ET life idea, but humans never managed to explore it due to constant war and self-destruction

I think there is more than simply "Aliens vs Humans" that everyone says. The aliens are called ELS (Extraterrestial Living-metal Shape-shifters) and judging by the name, they are a chunk of living metal and aren't an intelligent lifeform. I think that the remnants of the Jupiter project team made themselfs into Alterned humans (Cyborg, Innovator) and spent their years creating those ELS and their own version of the GN drives (A trailer before showed Bluish-purple GN Beams, but not who fired) .

@desertfox778 It is usually more of a Macross thing, but as I said in another comment, a conflict with aliens doesn't necessarily stray so far away from what Gundam is about. It's still a conflict based on differenses between two sides, and it's still about fighting not only the enemy but the very thing that makes peace and understanding between the two sides so hard. The movie could very well make me eat my words, but I still think aliens can exist in Gundam without ruining what it's about.

Gundam has always shown the chaos, pain, and near hopelessness of human conflicts that really only exist because people have always feared and misunderstoud each other. But we're all the same species, so it's at least possible to make peace with one another. Imagine a war with creatures of an entirely different nature, taking the struggle for peace and understanding(and in a way, Gundam itself) to the next level.

Sucks it won't be subbed for awhile. Fansubbers usually wait for the DVD Release before they make a Sub because they want to have it in Good Quality. Our only hope is for someone to Sub a CameraRip. That or hope Sunrise brings it over Fast.

Scratch what I said before. Sunrise announced that the Film will have it's US Premier on October 10 at the NY Anime Festival!! That means DVD release should be soon to Follow!! Hope the DVD is out by Christmas, I always hate waiting 6+ Months.

@Vozs This specific series is called Gundam 00, there are 2 seasons for it. there are also like 12 gundam series, not counting the OVAs and movies. Except for the ones in the universal century and the 2 gundam SEED series, none of the gundam are related. I will say that Turn-A gundam is loosely related to all the gundams that came before but that's not important right now.
