  • stupid Question, what about wubi on win7 64bit?

  • dumbass kid lol

  • Thumbs up if you use Ubuntu/ or another Linux Distro.

  • This guy would be better off buying a CD. If you can't even figure out how to use Wubi, how do you expect to be be able to use GRUB? And all Linux distros require at least some knowledge of computers in general, let alone a command line!

    n00b.

  • This kid is an idiot. RTML dumbass

  • lol this kid was kinda rude

  • No duh you can burn a Cd rewritable. That is what they are made for

  • i've found wubi to be pretty idiot-proof. i guess we found an idiot! :-)

  • omg people are so computer illiterate !!

  • If his graphic card was dead then a live cd won't work!

  • I'm using Ubuntu via a USB stick on my failing laptop. It works like a charm. Just can't install it on its hard drive. It basically reduces my laptop to a glorified dummy terminal, but it works. LOL

  • omg n00b

  • Wubi's is better, cause I CAN DUAL BOOT WITH NO CD!

  • @buildingmovies You can with a live cd

  • How old is this video? WUBI is Vista compatible. I've use it for Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 in Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

  • man he sound upset. lol... i bet he got tired hearing same question everyday "how to"

  • i know this vid is old, but tbh, based on this kids knowledge, i don't think he should be running linux anyway, and if he does he should have someone install/set it up for him. getting Linux running usually requires you to do your research and know a bit about what you're actually doing

  • Live CD's are ok but it will run slower and takes like hours to get ISO's and half the time they get screwed up. If you burn too fast or get download hiccups your waiting again. Thats if you can figure out whats wrong.

  • Live CD's are awsome, I use them to.

  • Yeah. I've got around 20 to 25 sitting in my CD case.

For some reason though, I prefer Slax/Slackware based CD's, but RPM distros are more prominent in my collection. I don't know why.

  • I like Slax as a live CD because it's a smaller OS, so it's faster to load then something like Ubuntu or Redhat on a CD.

  • I don't think Redhat has a CD. Although, by RPM I meant

    -Fedora

    -openSUSE

    -Mandriva

But I do agree with you there: Slackware based OS's are the fastest by far, on nearly any environment.

(I guess it's ironic that I'm going to put Slackware on my 2 Ghz Duo Core 3GB RAM laptop, and my 2Ghz 1 GB RAM machine has Ubuntu).

  • This video was posted on my BDay XD

  • lol don't mess with wubi

  • WUBI dear god DEFINATLY WUBI! if I have to wait for it to burn to a disk I would be waiting 1 hour whereas installing it is alot faster... altho you can get to the files through the iso folder it still is a little *waves hands* so I'd pick wubi because its reliable and less space is used up!

  • Wubi IS vista compatible...

  • yes it is

  • Eh.... I hate this guy.

  • when i get into ubuntu it wont connect my internet can anyone help?

  • What version of ubuntu are you using?... are you using ethernet connection, or trying to connect wireless? Cause I had the same problem with my desktop and I could only go to certain pages... My suggestion to you is GOOGLE for help on network connections.

  • nvm it works now

  • "Put in a Live CD?" That's a stupid response. Yeah you can put a live CD fine but its not sufficient for a real trial of linux. This kid probably will end up hating linux cuz its not a full blow installation. Stupid Chris.

  • A Live CD it's actually the best you can do. You have enough stuff to test linux and well if you like it you'll install it. If he liked the Live CD, I'm sure as hell he'll like linux operating in full.

  • after install i click on ubuntu from boot up menu but before it even gets to the desktop my monitor goes black like my monitor is not cooperating with it can ya help??

  • where do you download the Ubuntu ISO and What program do you people recommend, also is the ISO file a file that is "XX.ISO"

  • how can you get a blank cd to work after trying to make a live os cd... cuz i did it and it said complete but there was nothing on the cd and now i cant reburn or anything with the cd and there is no ubuntu on it.... cd is shot...

  • bad

  • what the hell are you on chris... I Wubi installed Ubuntu 9.04 64 Bit Desktop in 32 Bit Vista, YES it is compatible with XP, Vista, and will work on Windows 7... when you Wubi Install, all it is doing is mounting the volume for Ubuntu within the Windows OS... saying that 32 or 64Bit Ubuntu versions matter is like saying you cant install 64 Bit Vista (or 7) on a computer with 32 Bit XP and it work in a dual boot...

  • oh and you still didnt answer the kids question (the "is there anything he can do about the graphics" question) he could try loading the GRUB menu, selecting the recovery option for whatever kernel he is using, and selecting "Fix X"... (could work) or he could just reinstall the OS... he could also boot to the CD and have it check for defects...

  • People need to know more about computers before attempting to install anything.

  • Mine was around 600Kb/s per sec.

  • Wubi is vista compatible I have it installed on my vista machine.

  • This is a nice thing you are doing.

    Chris > Tech Support anyday.

  • Ubuntu 8.04 and above come with Wubi already

  • come on. i have a shit fucking intel graphic chipset and it is supported

  • I put Wubi (Xubuntu) on a elderly computer last night. Works fine, but its a little slow.

  • i have an intel chipset as well, and im in a dell inspiron 6400 with vista, im fully supportedd as well...

  • same on my laptop acer travelmate 2410 but im getting a new acer aspire 5535 with ati radeon hd3200 in 2days intel chipsets are so crap its the 915gm or somethin ive go it sucks lol

  • Hello!

I have a problem, sometimes when i open some windows in ubuntu linux in a live cd, all the windows just closes. How can i solve this problem?

One more thing, how can i configure a proxy server on firefox on linux? When i configure it on windows, it all works fine. When i configure it on linux, it doesn't work. Btw I'm using a LIVE CD, I did not install it directly onto my hard drive.

    Please help! Thanks. :)

  • And I'm using it on a Windows XP machine.

  • how do u make a live cd? i dont understand wat you need and wat you need to dl?

  • there are about 25-30 videos at least on youtube that will tell you exactly what to do for this process...

  • ok the best way to get you linux running well with no problems, IS TO ACTUALLY INSTALL IT...I had this same problem with the gOS linux on my laptop...I had to actually install it to a designated hyper terminal, anyone will tell you that running a live cd can and WILL have problems and you will not be able to configure as much as you would like..I hope this helped a bit sorry i couldn't give any details on the proxy settings.

  • I'm not sure Ubuntu is suitable for this kid

  • god that kid is super dumb

  • thinking of installing ubuntu, i just got in the mail today a copy of ubunutu 8.04LTS 64bit. i have vista ultimate 64 bit. if you go to the wubi page, it does says under requirements "vista". i was thinking of using wubi just because i dont want ubuntu to load first after i install with dual boot. last time i did that and tried to reconfig the boot loader to load windows first it didnt work. hopefully with wubi i can install ubuntu and not change the boot sequence. anyone know if wubi needs CD

  • wubi does work on vista, i have it and forums say it works, it may not of been when that kid used

  • not necessarily, i've had them come in less than a week, it depends how many orders they have queued up at the time, and you can't really complain about the timing when you get the disks for free! (or at least used to be able to...) ^_^

  • yes...

  • i have wubi on vista and i like it better than the live cd

  • excuse me, but is wubi as slow as the live cd?? i mean.. how fast it is???

  • well if you wanna download ubuntu all night i rather get the live disk takes a couple of weeks

  • all night! What are you using? Dial-up!

  • Yes wubi is vista compatible.

  • Can you get arrested for "touching" a hard drive?

  • Dude, Ik, he's like an eight year old. He's trying to sound really cool, but in reality he's really not that smart at all. "Duz it work on a 32 bit?" It's like wtf? What DOESN'T run on an Intel x86? That's the first thing most OS's are targeted for. The kid has a big lisp too. Woobi? "I downloaded it to my computer". What is that? "The graphics card was like incompatible or something like that." "What I could like do to make it work"? Seriously, this kid needs help. But he trys hard

  • yeah hes not eight hes like 13 and so am i and i have been using linux for like 4 years

  • shut the fuck up, if i see you id knock you into next week. He phoned up for some advice because he wants to enter the world of linux, BIG WOW. hes not trying to sound cool, because it does actualy say [i think on wubi website] that its for 64bit but you can *force* it to go on32bit. so he was right to ask their.

    thanks, all i gotta say

    -median-

  • that comment goes to buhmanator

  • Don't listen to that guy. Linux is fine as long as you're not an idiot.

  • I like Mac, Linux, & Mac they are all great OSs!

  • NEVER use wubi omfg i hated linux at first because that crappy beta sutff,If you dont have a blank cd order one dont use wubi,if you dont know how to boot from cd then you should not be using linux,or "google it"

  • I tried Wubi like 2 weeks ago, and it didn't work.

  • wubi installs ubuntu 7.04 which has many graphics errors that are fixed in 7.10

  • wubi has been in beta for 37 years

  • That kid sounds like he just finished jerking off.

  • I lol'd

  • I also lol'd

  • You can order a Ubuntu Cd for free and you get love CDs of Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Ubuntu Server.

  • he sounded abit nervous.

  • yea anyone if their screen starts turning blue and red and says incompatible with the video card. and they don't really know how to fix it. I pity that kid lol.

  • Same

  • lol, wubi ..

    Hmm u rule chris

  • Wubi?! Crazy Name!

  • Wubi stands for Windows Based Ubuntu Installer - not such a crazy name at all!

  • I don't think he meant it to be insulting. whoever who voted that comment. it does sound like a pet store name. which is not bad.
