It's a shame, but almost all track day sessions are filled with far too inexperience drivers..
On the other hand, the driver in front has corner speeds that were 10 to 20 MPH off yours. IDK what the session rules are on that track, but I would have been showing a nose a lot more. IMO it looked like the driver wanted you to pass him on the entry to a few different corners. That's hard to do when your hanging back as far as you where. Ether way, he should have moved on the straight. Just saying.
This is why i hate track days....but in order to be fair, we must share right? I really would like to run individual time trials though. Kind of like a test and tune day the drag boys have.
I'm hoping to start doing trackdays (yes in a Caterham, when it arrives) but it's guys like you that put me off. I'll be a novice, a newbie, whatever you want to call it, and guys like you would dash my confidence and enjoyment. People go to trackdays to drive their car like they can't do on the road; not to do time trials. Your "make sure nobody gets in my way, or else" attitude gives enthusiasts and car lovers a bad name. I'm sure you weren't driving @ 100% on your 1st track day! Be Reasonable
sure that must have been a bit annoying but you could have been past him about 20 different times if you just braked where you usually would instead of slowing up for him.
Or it never occured to you to just back off to give yourself some space ?
I completely understand about stupid people not pointing by... it really should just be a corner worker's call then, but they were obviously asleep, blind, or just didn't give a rip. Either way, I have had to dive under many a faster car against the official's wishes simply because of egotistical people like this. They have no business being on a track with the rest of us.
engine seems to run out of guts at high rev's, You need to be brave with a MR2 upset the car into the corner and power it out but this is a AW11 they may be heaps different from the SW20 great track from what I can tell, you don't need syncro's I lost mine long time ago, you need have a cool head to drive fast
nice video with a nice sounding car mate, i gree that chap is abit of a wally, but arent you taking the whole trackday thing abit too seriously?? come on, sector times ffs?!! if you want to go racing, get a race license! thats just how accidents happen when people start getting too serious.....
What a shame. Your little MR2 looks like it has some poke. Pity you didn't get a clean run (although the Caterham would have wiped you if he didn't drive around corners like a granny). I've seen it before though - a driver gets so wrapped up in pushing themselves (even if slow) that they forget everything about racecraft.
Wow, Cadwell park looks like a very fun track. Reminds me of a smaller VIR, here in the States. That guy was a total prick, and you should astounding patience. I would have been honking, flashing brights and giving him the finger. Legendary British skills...I guess yall really do know how to queue up!
If I can pull 1:55's with a 320 Diesel BMW you should be able to pull 52's with that little hunny you got there mate ;), like already said, more aggression into the faster corners :) Nice vid mate WD
I am with you about Barn, i've done it so many times but never got it quite right! As you are aware cadwell is not so much fun if the conduct is not top notch. In my opinion you had no option but to back off a lot or pit. Not your fault but the sensible choice. As a caterham owner i must tell you that we are not all like that, besides you wouldnt have a chance of keeping up with my caterham at Cadwell (my local circuit)!
Perhaps because it's the only way you'll safely get clear track...? Do we have to spell it out? In any event, if he's such a stickler for the rules, why the hell is he timing on a track day? Want to race? Get a race licence.

We've all been stuck behind someone, which is frustrating but better than having to put up with the idiots that try and overtake in the braking areas

can see your point but would have been better to just back off and give yourself room.

Hell No!!!! You only get to drive at a track so often, why the hell would you drive slower while you are there?
