  • Please stop comparing GaGa and Nomi. Give some respect.

  • @stormtrooper253

exactly. lady gaga is generic pop garbage in the same vein as christina aguilera & shakira. nothing to do with nomi. she just wears costumes.

  • God i need both his albums right now! I don't want to wait for amazon to send them.

  • Klaus Nomi wrote like 2 or maybe 3 songs, while people found him weird when he was still alive, same thing is now being said about gaga, the only difference is that she write all of her songs. And I like Klaus Nomi very much, but all Gaga haters on here need to calm down, she CAN sing, that is a fact that is been proven many times before. And to be honest, she is the most interesting artist out there compared to Katy Perry & or Rihanna. So all haters, shut the f- up, and listen to Mr Nomi.

  • I keep imagining Prince Poppycock from America's Got Talent redoing this. ^_^ This is so much fun! Thanks for sharing!

  • I will never forget Klaus Nomi for the rest of my life!

  • unvergesslich - großartig!!

  • I want a Klaus Nomi doll or action figure...

  • @ChrisLuizOP Brilliantly put, Chris. Gaga is merely this generation's Madonna. Nomi was utterly unique. Never seen anything quite like him before or since, and his voice is beyond anything heard in today's pop world.

  • this is bear sik make another called omar

  • Klaus would be very angry if he knew people were comparing a Legend to a Entertainer/Whore

  • amazing outfit

  • I wish everybody would stop comparing. That is all. I especially wish ppl would shut up about Lady Gaga, no one likes her, even if she is talented, end of discussion. Just enjoy this.

  • Hahaha It's funny cause I was looking up my name and I found this. My name is actually Nomi. It's not bad music either. Theme song of my life?

  • My commentary from a historical perspective on Klaus Nomi. I don't know particularly much about him, except remember I first heard and saw pictures in the late seventies. He performed with David Bowie.

In those days it seemed sensational, now just common place. I think what we called bizarre started becoming common place in the 1980's.

I can't seem to think of anyone else at the time that was doing this sort of act, thing, what ever you want to call it.

  • Space Rock + Opera + New Wave = Klaus Nomi

  • MY NAME IS NOMI! :D

  • This song is always stuck in my head and no one ever knows what I'm singing.

  • the amount of shit you can find on youtube!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • had this song stuck in my head all week...

  • I wish this song was somehow revived and became number one around the world, as beautiful as it is that is perhaps wishful thinking ... or is it? Grace Jones and david Bowie could revive it for the next Live Aid - wonderful

    -Butterfly International Day Of Peace-

  • RIP Klaus

  • hes my hero

  • @ChodeMan2000

    Mine, too....

  • It's Voldo from Soul Calibur

  • @seydan121 Omfg it's true!!!

  • SIMPLY A GENIUS...I´M FROM MEXICO

  • @60D0FR3D0 SIMPLY A GENIUS...I CAN COUNT TO BANANA

  • The same things you're saying about Gaga were said about Nomi when he was alive. Dressing up in elaborate costumes, coming up with eclectic performances for equally eclectic music and pretending to be an space-alien...how is that different from what lady gaga does? No need to bash someone just because they are well-liked in the present.

  • @Eivyll He was musically inclined. That's the difference. Gaga is just an entertainer without any noteable singing skills. Nothing more and nothing less. ;-)

  • @ButterflyFeerie

Klaus Nomi didn't compose most of his own music or lyrics, while Lady Gaga does.... just because she isn't an opera singer like he was doesn't mean she's not musically inclined. You even called her a phenom, aka a person or thing of outstanding abilities or qualities, in your previous comment. And I doubt you possess the claircognizance to know her personal motivations. Your just being reactionary.

  • @Eivyll I'm sorry, but I'm not vocally stimulated by her music. I couldn't care less that she writes her own lyrics and what she does for a shock factor, which is hardly shocking since there have been many "shocking" artists before her. I just don't like her singing and don't know how and why she is being mentioned in the comments section of a Klaus Nomi video. There are several Lady Gaga videos and forums that you can she "love" on. ;-)

  • @Eivyll Also, it was Nellirubina that called her a pop phenom. Not me. I said that she was just an entertainer - nothing more and nothing less. Calling a person an entertainer doesn't mean that they're good one. Personally, I just find her downright annoying regardless what her personal motivations are. ;-)

  • @Eivyll I give Gaga the talent and drive to amaze people, but, I cannot let people compare her to Nomi. Gaga is a monster, Nomi is an alien. =] Nomi is truly space royalty. People just compare everything to Gaga. Which is wrong

  • @ChrisLuizOP Nomi is an artist. Gaga is a parody of an artist. Apples and Oranges.

  • @ChrisLuizOP

    gaga...more like Gag-ehhh

  • @ButterflyFeerie Lol gaga HAS proven singing skills.

  • @justafidemyself

she has singing skills , and her songs are still terrible. that's bad.

  • @justafidemyself Then, her talents are clearly wasted....

  • @Eivyll Nope, Gaga is a pop singer and entertainer, her costumes are just part of fashion shows most of the times. Nomi is not electronic music, I repeat, he IS NOT, when he arrived he was shocking since the beginning, but, he was the first one shocking people in New York and other cities with his new wave/opera/baroque shock. Gaga is just doing some similar things to Madonna+ many other. Nomi was completely original, you should watch his documentary, their history are neevr going to be the same

  • @Eivyll

the difference is nomi is perfect and gaga sucks

  • @blackwayfarers

Haha, yes, cocaine abuse does that to people.

  • This is gay but cute. :) Just like me! :D

  • @andrzejrobertendriu

ypu wish you were that cute.

  • ke mierda

  • He's very pointy

  • weird dude, K.Nomi, who didnt make it....

there are a lot of weirdos who make it, like Prince, D.Bowie, Björk, G.Jones and some others just dont....

    weird bussines the show bussines

  • @RoPiDe

He "didn't make it" because he died of aids early in his career, just as he was becoming internationally known.

  • @Eivyll i know what you mean, but for example buddy holly died early in his career too and he did "make it"... he became internationally known and is a big, i mean huge legend, inspiring the beatles and the stones and clapton, etc, etc, etc. Nomi in the other hand had a great great talent too but in the third world where i leave im one of the 6 persons who may know who he was...and LOTS of people know who buddy holly is even here! because he make it. weird bussines the show bussines...

  • @RoPiDe What do you mean "didn't make it"? Do you even know what you are talking about?

  • @fortworthhomegirl you're just trying to sound sarcastic or something like that, right? i mean, you do know what i mean with "didn´t make it", right? i'm sure you do... it was just irony or something like that, i'm sure... ¬¬

  • @RoPiDe No I'm not trying to be sarcastic, Do you mean he died? He was becoming very successful and had a lot of things going on at the time of his death. I'm sorry I came off like that, People say crazy things sometimes and Klaus was a good guy, I guess I couldn't tell what you really meant. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I feel bad about getting cross, forgive my misreading of you.

  • i don't like this video. but i dont know why i come back at random times - maybe for the amusement of a new type of music im not used to

its kinda weird to me B)

  • @PDiddyindie107 So it's not a 'new type' anymore.

  • Anybody else suspect that Prince Poppycock is a huge fan of Nomi? ;)

  • No se metan con K. Nomi. El gusto excéntricamente bizarro!

  • @ENCofficial A flame war over Nomi and GaGa- That's funny! Ga Ga facts: She's been training in music since childhood, she has been writing for others since she was 19, and at the very least she co-writes with her producer. Here are some Nomi facts; He only wrote one song, he was a mediocre coutertenor at best, and he was pissing his life away as a pastry maker in gay New York until David Bowie found him and gave him the pattern to his outfit. Who sounds more like a musician? Really?

  • @rcky560

She may write her own music, but I can't stand any of it. Klaus' "mediocre countertenor" (which I like, but I don't know what would be considered a good one) separated his music from the other New Wave of the time while Ga Ga's ,to me, just sounds like everything else on the radio.

I make judge music on the music, not the person playing it.

And I've heard her acoustic performances and wasn't impressed.

  • @Theshakesupreme Finally! Thank you. You express yourself well. I like nomi better than gaga too, I just found out he has a posthumous third album, which he did co-write, and so far it's pretty cool. Who knows what he could have done. However, I was impressed with gaga's SOLO acoustic work and I must defend her because I believe she is Klaus reincarnated. Think about it, Klaus liked singing high, makeup, dressing up, oh, and penises. Gaga will sing "the cold song", and ye shall know the truth.

  • @rcky560 She didn´t wrote all of her songs by her own! She is saying that in public to get a better image! She took many things from other artist like Madonna and others. AND Nomi also has been singing since childhood! Elvis had never written a song! Maybe on or two. And he ist still one of the best artist! You cant compare one artist to another artist who is TOTALLY different!

  • @rcky560

sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

nomi is simply completely different from and better than gaga

  • Kudos to the man who could only turn looking like a Taco into a fashion statement.

  • I love Klaus but all of you Lady Ga Ga haters need to educate yourselves before disrespecting her. Look up some of her solo acoustic performances. Idiots.

  • My Nomi poem..............

Nomi was a mover and a shaker

Not some freak or a nut

He was just a simple man

That liked penises in his butt

  • Nomi was truly an exciting, talented performer. Unique is a dangerous word when describing any artist, especially one taking chances by going beyond being a one-note character. The comparisons to Lady Gaga seem stretched, but automatically trashing her is folly, too. Anyone influenced by interesting artists while creating original material shouldn't get AUTOMATIC derision. Nomi certainly was received with automatic disdain in his day, as were Grace Jones, David Bowie, Nina Hagen, Madonna, etc..

  • "will know me? Nomi? Know me now" :P I will know you Nomi :)

  • @totopatter She's only popular for now, when she's 30, she'll co-starring with Tiffany in "Gatoroid versus Sascratch" on the SyFy channel movie of the week.

  • @totopatter you took the words right out of my mouth

  • @totopatter Can you judge by two albums? Bowie had same quality back then.

  • @totopatter Honestly, I think it's the opposite. she doesn't seem to have much talent but some of her songs are all right. I don't listen to pop, but I inevitably hear pop songs every once in a while, and hers are decent.

Nomi has raw talent, but his music is absolutely garbage. He should have done something more classical.

  • Comment removed

  • I have learned so much about Klause Nomi from youtube. He was unique and very artistic with a love for what he accomplished. He was a influence for many generations both with his music and his fashion. But what klause loved the most, the one thing that he looked forward to more than anything, was some guy puting his penis in his butt.

  • a guy with enormous vocal abilities weds opera and new wave with a space persona.... classic. and nothing to be compared with Lady GaGa who, though cool, is neither the first, nor the last, musical act to do something off the wall for attention

  • His voice is crazy!!!! :D I love it! I wish I could sing that high... and I'm female -_- Much applause <3

  • Why does everyone compare anything that's visually boggling to Lady Gaga? Even things that came looong before she became famous, like clips from Tommy and this. Yeah guys, Gaga was the first person ever to do anything weird in popular culture. smh

  • I bet this guy gets all sorts of chicks

  • @markx64 He was gay, and he died of AIDS when he was like 39. So he doesn't get any chicks, especially not now.

  • @markx64 more like all sorts of dicks XD. Died of AIDS :( But yes, I agree, hehe.

  • How do you describe klaus in two words?....CHICK MAGNET!!

  • he came from outer space to save the human race. we miss you down here, klaus.

  • holy crap thats asome

  • This is a really deeply moving song.. If I'm not mistaken, he wrote this after he was diagnosed with AIDS (I could be wrong, don't kill me over it.)... It seems to me like more of a lament, as far as Nomi's general musical style ran. Would they mourn the loss of the Man, or the Idol? I may not be a child of the 80's, but I still appreciate his music. The world lost something great when he died.

    Requisicat en pace.

  • @Amazingwinky Well, he wasn't really diagnosed with AIDS because they had no idea what it was. But I agree, the world lost a great potential when he passed away.

  • Lol, he was a villain on the Venture Brother's!

  • @ProfessionalDrunk Yep...he appeared on Saturday Night Live backing Bowie in '79...hence him and Iggy being Bowie's "henchmen" on Venture Brothers...

  • oke ?????

  • I wonder if we'll ever see a high-quality version of this video. This one is so fuzzy.

  • Someone has one. There was a clear (at least for its time) version in The Nomi Song documentary.

  • i like the beginning. he looks like "can i come in?"

  • @atirisdes lol thank you. you made my day!

  • yes we nomi you , your on youtube now dummy. klausi you fag.

  • What the fu...k about Gaga? That dumb girl which repeats Alejandro at least one hundred times in 4 mins! What a lyric! Its too hard to focus on this genius? I love this song..and i love the sounds, its performance, the lyrics..All its good in this song and Nomi sounds better day by day..Much better that many stuff of today like gaga..in example

  • @seekingnewhorizons why is she dumb :L

  • 74 people don't Nomi.

  • "The Nomi Song" is now available on Hulu for free. Go see it.

  • YOU ARE MISSED MY FRIEND EARTH WAS JUST NOT READY TO RECIEVE THE GIFTS YOU GAVE

  • Is this a song about an existential dilemma? In any case it's genius. I love the part where he sings, "My how I have grown! Will they know me now?" :-)

  • My husband opened up for him! I think thats pretty cool I love Klaus NOMI!

  • don't thank any one nowadays try to steal just mimic what they thank would work well with there own way of music prince poppycock and gag are both good but klaus was one of the original wish he was still around i would of loved to see him live.

  • He seems like a....interesting person

  • 71 dislikes? Seems no one appreciates real art when they hear/see it.

    Love you, Klaus!

  • Actually, i think Prince Poppycock steals quite a bit from Nomi's operatic/theatrical act...everything old becomes new again...

  • Compared to the expressionistic elegance of Nomi, all of rock's so called "sex gods" are nothing more than a band of blundering Neanderthals. Rest in peace Klaus, the world is a less beautiful place without you.

  • @boogiepop14mc This comment made me cry, Beautifully put, my friend.

  • @boogiepop14mc But its a better place because he was here for as long as he was

  • @boogiepop14mc Elegance and sofistication, I tend to associate those words with "vampire" and gothic. I don't have good fellings toward those words.

  • @i8numbers You're next

  • @mmurrer I guess Eazy-E was a fag. Who would've thought?

  • I remember seeing a Nomi video on MTV when I was a kid and thinking he looked so different. His voice was like an opera singer, but he was on MTV! I think I can attribute my love of goth/rock/opera to him^^

  • Comment removed

  • @VidGirl88 And its cause of my love for those very same music that you mentioned that led me to discover Klaus Nomi. :) kinda opposites

  • HE was a kick-ass countertenor, with real talent. People only make comparisons because he had a persona that partly relied on costuming. He and Gaga haven't got any similar drives. She's a pop phenom looking to carve out a place for herself by pushing the existing taste into shocking overdrive - whereas Nomi had actual talent and was driven by his own personal vision.

  • @Nellirubina I agree absolutely. He was nothing short of a genius.

  • @Nellirubina I think Gaga is talented

    just watch her live

but yes, most of her work is very shallow

    unlike this

    which is beautiful

  • @Nellirubina Agreed.But Gaga..shocking? Nah.Not at all.

  • @oneiricillusion That's pretty much up to you...personally the first time i saw Gaga i was impressed by her "freak" costumes and mannerism...but, yeah, besides getting too much attention from easily impressionable people there's nothing else, talent ?? i am not so sure.

It's a not a matter of discussion here that there can't be any comparision between Gaga and Klaus Nomi.

  • @martrex2 I don't see any similarity. I see her as a cross between Marilyn Manson and Madonna. She does have talent though, well more talent than the rest of whats popular today and I guarantee you that she will be around for many many more years.

  • @martrex2 I see your point..to each his own :D

  • @Nellirubina You can say what you want, but Gaga HAS talent.

  • @AkiiBakii PREACH

  • @AkiiBakii you're confusing a publicist with talent

  • @Nellirubina I couldn't have said it better.

  • @Nellirubina which also applies to lady gaga? :L

you really wouldn't be too bright to do what he did in today's popculture. you have to market yourself. fag.

  • @Nellirubina totally agree - klaus nomi was the sad clown, with an amazing voice!

embarrasing lady gaga started her carrier as a dj, and nothing more she is...wearing fancy clothes doesn't generate a touching voice!

  • @Nellirubina I like what you say about Nomi. But I can't agree that Gaga has no talent or that she's a puppet. Apples and oranges.

  • @Nellirubina yes you are right: if you want to understand what Gaga is really all about, cover your ears, turn your brain off and stare. If you want to understand Klaus Nomi, close your eyes, open your heart and LISTEN

  • @telegramsam That was said so beautifully, and you couldn't be more right!

  • @Nellirubina damn right... Lady Gaga, whoever or what she is, can't even dream of the talent that Klaus Nomi had... His talent forever lives on...

  • @Nellirubina haha then why does the music suck then?

  • @Nellirubina no this guy is fucking gay.

  • @TOXINO14 literally.

  • @TOXINO14

Yeah dude. You didnt know that until three days ago? Damn. Do you own a set of eyes?

  • @Nellirubina Gaga is brilliant and so is Nomi.....dont get it twisted shes much more than what we want to think of her.

  • i love the song so much!!!

  • acabo de comprarme el DVD nomi song.. jojojojo

  • Why is Nomi being compared to Gaga anyway? - their styles are completely different, any comparison is irrelevant. I for one love Gaga and have started to like Nomi too (I hated both initially, but they're both really neat). So what's with all this hate?

  • Opera / rock singer? How could you not love this?

  • WTF with the 68 dislikes :(!!!!!!!

  • the missing link between pinocchio and pee wee

  • Salve Klaus Nomi fuiste un regalo para todos nosotros y tu partida de este mundo fue una injusticia absurda.

Se te recuerda con gran admiracion y todas tus grabaciones son un tesoro artistico inigualable.

  • What's so brilliant about this guy? I'm being serious - everyone's calling him a genius and all I see is some dude being weird for the sake of being weird.

  • @tvanstone let me guess, you work in a cubicle don't you?

  • @harrisongsrule Just what I thought - there's no answer to my question. Thanks for replying.

  • Watch his rendition of The Cold Song, and you'll understand that he was a classical operatic countertenor who had an amazing delivery. He was a performer in the truest sense of the word. He realized that his on-stage persona was part of the experience for the audience. Watch his video for Falling In Love Again and you'll also see he wasn't afraid to do things that people viewed as odd or edgy for his time. He pushed the boundaries of performance.

  • @BUCEnGAR Thank you for replying. I appreciate your time in doing so and indulging my curiosity.

  • q bueno era klaus latima q´ya no se encuentre con nosotros siempre terecordaremos klaus

  • It's amazing how we live in a universe that contains both generic rednecks and this brilliant living cartoon character.

  • Almost 30 years later and this song theme still hold water. this is one song that will forever transcend time

  • OH MY FUCK!!! ITS CREEPY OPERA SINGING PLASTIC MONSTER!!!!! EAR RAPE!!!

  • Great talent. Now I know what I'm going to be for Halloween. The looks I will get...

  • I kinda wish there were more eccentric artists again. sure it's gimmicky, but it's fun. they're not just selling music, but a personality. maybe that's one reason lady gaga is so popular. gaga is one of the only mainstream artist that's not afraid to be unusual. (even though she steals everything)

i'm just tired of every new mainstream musician coming along and their only concern is looking good for the camera. it's not all about being sexy! you have to be interesting!

  • What you get when 2 retards make babies.

  • @Jeronimos100 You.

  • Comment removed

  • It's a shame that he's dead.

  • Klaus Nomi is indeed a great artist, that I respect and like for his work. But that particular song : the tune, the voice, that videoclip... are quite pathetic, I mean, in the very meaning of the term, I'm not saying something wicked.

  • I was at a birthday yesterday and somone played this on a vinyl record.

I never heard of this man, I am so impressed and intrigued.

thanks for the tips on the special :)

  • I just discovered this guy a few days ago, and already watched "The Nomi Song" (the documentary)... very cool guy.

  • LADY GA GA FAR FAR BEHIND

  • I never heard of the dude, pretty damn good singer!

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! MIME ON AN ACID TRIP!!

  • On the one hand this isn't my kind of music. But on the other hand, I recognize how much better Klaus Nomi is than some "singers" that rely on Auto-Tune.

Btw, I see that in addition to being pretentious, hypocritical and bigoted, Supermassively is also a sanctimonious troll boy.

  • He looks Vegeta.

  • @stigler30 That is because Klaus Nomi changed music forever just like Elvis did in the 50's

  • @antiedman What does that have to do with him looking like Vegeta?

  • @stigler30

    It's over 9000, Stig. :)

  • @GeorgeFromNY You said Stig...

  • @stigler30 Vegeta is based in him D:
