I didn't have the honor to know him... I'm sorry for your loss. I've lost young friends to accidentss (two), but it is just as shocking to lose someone from health-related death. It's not fair at all. We have such a short time to experience life, as it is. Every day is precious, and so is every memory shared with friends and family. Your friend looks to have been someone who did just that, and that is one of the best ways to honor his memory, I'd think.

I don't know you and I didn't know your friend, but for what little it may be worth, you have my sympathy.

Shocking. And horrible. A few years ago I was similarly concerned about a friend's uncharacteristic silence. A friend with unstable health. I was on the verge of making a special trip to his hometown to knock on his door in person. Just before I left, I got a message from him. He was back in town after having gone off for a few days without telling anyone. Happy ending. But I still remember how worried I was.
