  • Great stuff. I also tried a 390 Holley (with secondary metering block) on my tuned 3ltrs but, like the triple webber setup, found it to be too much carb for a road car, it robbed the motor of too much low end torque. Best carb I ended up with was the 40DCNF although the stock DGAS as fitted to the later 722F blocks weren't actually that bad if jetted properly.

  • Ah... beautiful. Absolutely beautiful!

  • God ! Im glad i never fitted the steel cam gear if thats how they sound! I built my 3.1 with swaymar heads and a v62 cam back in 1982, it revved to nearly 7000 and never missed a beat, great engine, sold my 3.0GXL in '83 and got a BDA, still got that....

  • Awesome engine mate!

  • 3.0Lt Capri's???? I left these behind when i started playing with 3dr Cosworths back in the late 80's&90's.

I used to race these & my last Capri had an ex Gordon Spice/Neil Brown Grp1 engine with triple DCNF Webers fitted. What a monster Capri that would be today.KTM 735V or PUD 944T did you survive i wonder ?? Cosi's came & went but i'd love a 3.0lt Capri in the garage again, happy memories.

  • My friend - former racer from Germany - Bernd Siller had a 320HP race Capri with 3.0 litre Essex engine tuned by Gordon Spice. I believe it was a real locomotive !

  • lol i like how u machines the front pully off and pluged it i did the same

  • Hi, the manifold is from Swaymar (rather rare today, but you can buy it on eBay). Front pulley was machined off by grinder, hole was plugged. Thats all :)

  • is that a Offenhauser Dual Port Intake Manifold ...i got a holley carb exactely like that one but i need a intake manifold for my ford v6

  • Where did you get the inlet manifold? I wanna run a 4 barrel weber/edelbrock!

  • hi mate, try e-bay, or classic ford mag classifieds. Price 100-200 Pounds.

  • I've modified inlet manifolds for the Essex V6 engines so they can use the Webber 48IDA, so there's always the possibility of doing the same for a Holley. Its just a case of getting a manifold a working something out. If your interested let me know. Cheers, Alan.

  • I was under the impression that the Holley works better with the float bowls orientated front and back on the manifold, not side to side. I had an Oselli engineering manifold with swaymar heads with the Holley bowls along the engine and it worked very well. Peter Baldwin set it up on his rolling road, peaking at 245bhp at the flywheel. I sold the engine complete, but miss it, yours sound spot on, good luck, Alan.

  • Yeah, I know an Oselli engines from books, Oselli Capri 230 had a peak between 200-210 HP, so your engine with 245 HP was a real monster. I have an original Swaymar manifold for side to side orientation but sometimes thinking about change of carb orientation on it. I suppose that Oselli manifold is extremely rare in this days, just Swaymars can be seen on eBay.

  • nice motor. what bhp you got there with that combo? thinking of going essex m'self.

  • I expect 200 HP on flywheel.

  • Nice looking engine! What size alternator belt are you running. I want to remove the fan pulley from mine and can't find a belt the right length.

  • I have a 1275 mm long belt installed, but 1260 mm seems to be ideal.

  • What a wonderfull engine you have there, i'm loving it.
