@ANU1god I've read that over the centuries, people have bred sheep to grow the most wool, so it is too much for them to handle on their own, so they need clipping to be cool and comfortable in the summer. Some breeds still do shed on their own I believe.
@ANU1god: Originally sheep would only grow enough wool to keep them warm in the winter and moult it in the summer. However humans have bred modern sheep to grow more wool and not moult it. For more info please see the link to wool in the video description. Thanks
Oh dear - watching that lamb beside it's dead mother....can't tell you what that did to me.....that must be one of the most horrible and moving things I have ever seen.....thank you for all you do and did for her. I am so thankful that I live without needing their flesh or their wool. .....and I DO live...no one will die without it. Thank you again.
For the last few years we have been adopting starlight ,and before that it was laura who sadly passed away, what a great job everyone at hillside does.and to see them all on youtube..great,thanks
What a beautiful film - had me in floods of tears in 2 seconds flat, but such a happy ending, thanks for caring for Starlight and all the other animals xx
She was soo cute and still she is so cute! i accutally adopted one of your animals from hillside! topsy and alice but they sadly died! i think sheep are cuter when they have been shaved! they are cool and they won't over heat! it is nice to see the animals happy!!! :)
God, that's heartbreaking - but thank goodness for Hillside she now has a wonderful life - you do a fantastic job. I've just started up my monthly donations again. Lots of love and keep up the amazing work. xxx
Isn't it nice to see how relaxed and happy a sheep can be when being sheared if it's done by somebody with gentleness, sensitivity and compassion rather than yob who's just shoving her about and bullying her and trying to get the job done as fast as possible to move on to the next.
