  • Re the black smoke, I think it burns oil rather than coal.

  • This needs to be inspiration for the next action/fantasy film

  • good god its a vertical!!!! who the hell built that

  • @Rainhill1829 Its a Daniel Best steam engine, he joined up with "Holt" and with that they founded "caterpillar, inc", what it is today. The engine itself was comeletely unique and revolutionary in its design, the vertical boiler as you noticed and the "Trike" wheels. also the BIG water tank in the front

  • @EthanCollier01 you wouldnt know how many where produced?

  • AWW MAN I want one!!!

  • How do they make the steam black? is black steam worse for the environment than white steam?

  • @se7en1976 thats not steam, its the smoke from the fire box, its mostly soot, which will fall back to earth.... generally speaking, its the stuff you cant see that causes the problems.. ;)

  • @se7en1976 Are you joking or what? Steam is NOT BLACK, it's smoke of coal.

  • @se7en1976 naa thats smoke from the fire, the black is a better smoke as it is unburnt carbon, instead of carbon dioxide which is made of burnt carbon

  • @se7en1976 Steam can't be black. Also steam has no negitive environmental effects as it is just water in it's gas form. Steam machines only pollute by what they use to heat the water with, a modern steam engine using a clean fuel for the fire can be 10 times cleaner than diesel and gas engines.

  • i has got T4 Garett

  • I want to buy a John Deere to cut my lawn that looks like that..

  • and THAT people is the ancestors of the modern combine, and i will admit that is something to see

  • It's Willy Wanka LOL

  • WTF!! What in Hell´s name is that? fantastic machine!!!

  • What kind of fuel does that use? Coal or oil?

  • Dang, ITS HUGE!!!!!!!!

  • Looks bizarre, I love that machine. That really gets my mind thinking about the past. What an imagination this man had who made this tractor.

  • now thats rolling smoke

  • This must have been shot during the ten or so minutes that the harvester was operational. ;)

And I must have been standing right behind you!

  • thats a 1906 best steam engine and a 1906 best harvester, the only best harvester left.
