@Ameliadams I do find it strange when people make such statements as if they were the truth. She's not French Canadian. While her French is actually rather good, she has an anglophone accent and makes the grammatical mistakes that one would expect from someone who learnt it as a second language. It is therefore an error to say that she is French Canadian....and another error to say that she speaks English and French. That implies she speaks both to the same level, which she doesn't.
-I can also speak French, but it's not always perfect.
-Did you come for the rehearsal?
-Yes, I'm here to practice my lines and things like that, because I've never presented in front of...at the ceremony? I don't know the right word... Award?
-Ceremony!
-Oh, ok, all right.
-Where did you learn to speak French?
-In Alberta! Even in Alberta..(?)..when I was very young. It was about 13 years ago since I last spoke French regularly, so I forget a lot.
i like her accent by the way.. it's clearly Canadian but I guess people in english-speaking Canada learn the Canadian version of French and not the one spoken in France
i am always so impressed with people who can speak more than one language. i learnt spanish in school for like 5 years and i can hardly speak any. it's hard to learn another language
@vanillabamboo1 in europe it's normal to learn 2 foreign languages (english + something else, usually french, spanish or german) .. unless you're in the UK of course, then you learn 0 or 1 foreign languages.. xD
@sebastianflyte07 Well, she says it has been 13 years since she has spoke french on a regular base and she forgets a lot because of that. I personaly think it's really really great for someone who stopped speaking french regularly 13 years ago!
ok it's just because i'm learning french i'm interested. but like at the beginning she tutoyer him straight away. and when he says he speaks good french she replies 'oui je sais, tellement dur..' as tho he'd asked a question. j'sais pas le mot isn't it connais? j'avais tellement petit..
so these were things i thought were like quite non-native mistakes but everyone's like 'no it's perfect it's just a different accent'
@sebastianflyte07 Yeah, this one was a mistake. She meant "Oui, j'essaie, mais c'est tellement difficile". But the whole thing was still pretty good though :)
@Siobanphotogirl I almost forgot, she has a Quebecers accent this is normal when you live in Canada, you can talkin fench accent from France when you used to live in Canada.
Même si c'est notre langue maternelle a nous les français, j'peux comprendre que c'est difficile ! (même moi j'm'embrouille parfois avec les temps xD)
What are you guys complaining about? It doesn't matter if she speaks french with accent or not. the important thing is that speaks the language and people can understand her. really, stop being ignorant . Lots of people speak different languages with accents.
I don't think she has the quebec accent... ( I would know, i live in quebec and speak french w/ quebec accent) I think it's more of an parisian accent..
its less tighter around the lips and less enunciated than parisian french. and the intonation is different too. quebec french intonations tend to rise at the end of sentences. not always, but more common than in european french.

its less tighter around the lips and less enunciated than parisian french. and the intonation is different too. quebec french intonations tend to rise at the end of sentences. not always, but more common than in european french.
but her accent isnt exactly quebec french. it sounds like it at some points, but you can tell she's not native.
