I was so shocked I nearly screamed! This book is so amazing and I'm barely halfway through. Definitely the best thing I have ever read in all my fourteen years. And does this video spoil it? Indeed not! :)

You know when you watch a movie from the adaptation of a book? When y read the book after the movie, and when you envision the characters, you see the movie in your head. This is the only movie where watching the movie first won't ruin the greatness of the book! It's THAT amazing. I've read it more than 5 times. This is the best movie adaptation I've ever seen. Nothing compares.

i've just been watchin' a french movie before this trailer and the huge gap that part them reinforce my idea that french movie are soo rubbish especially compare to english one! when british actors embrace their caracters perfectly, french ones only fail being convincing, it's like they have to carry their role heartfelt-less-ly!!! when english dialogues are poignant, catching, french ones are empty and crude! frankly on cinematography ground i must say i'm a bit ashamed being french!

@Solweig93 Hi. Did you ever watch Tipping the Velvet? That was a good English drama series. I think the same author that wrote Fingersmith actually? Worth a watch if you haven't seen it. :o) Also, Aimee and Jaguar I can highly recommend. That's based on a true lesbian love story set in WWII Berlin. Very sad but a must see for all I reckon! Enjoy both if you haven't seen them already. :o)
the actors played their character very well, especially Elaine and Sally. you wont see any awkwardness in their love scenes, instead, you believe it. this is one of those movies that you dont wanna end.

I absolutely love this movie. And the book. The twist in the middle is just genius. It sucks that you can't just forget it and relive that OMFG WHAT THE HECK -moment over and over again like it was the first time around.

i never saw the actual thing, so I didn't know how the story ended..but I thought in English Victorian time, homosexuality was illegal, they even got death penalty for it...and obviously Mr. Rivers found out about Sue and Maud during a scene in the movie, did he tell anyone? did it mention anything about that in the movie? too curious! lol
@xtremeNarutoPK3 it is a 'movie' cos its about 2 hours long straight (or even more), but BBC separated it into 2 or 3 episodes so BBC would say it is a 'drama' but in fact it is also a 'movie', and some say it is a 'TV film/movie' (in wiki), if that make sense at all :)

i just received the dvd i ordered yesterday. this movie is great. maud is soooo hot in this movie. not to mention that she's also a great actress. loved her voice and her accent.

One of the best movies I have ever seen! Incredible story, twists and turns, rich characters, Secrets galore, and Sally and Elaine were both amazing in this along with the rest of the cast.
And the book is utterly awsome... its beyond description! sarah waters is such a very talented writer... her imagination is very deep that could capture every readers heart..

Can someone PLEASE let me know if there is / will be fan videos of this movie that are NOT focusing on Maud/Sue love story but on the whole brilliant story around it. Or even only on Gentleman's character. It's a shame people seem to care of nothing but the lesbian love thing in this brilliant story!
Well, I wouldn't call that a shame exactly, since that is the main story. But I'm sure there are some other videos on the other characters because you are right, everything about this movie is brilliant. But please don't discount the major relationship because you don't find it the most interesting thing in the movie.
I do, because stories are more than their main events/themes. The others shoudln't be this much insignificant as they seem in fan's eyes seeing to how many tons of Sue/Maud videos there are and none or very little of anyone or anuything else...
Well, I think love stories are so much more than heterosexual relationships and one's like Maud and Sue's in this movie shouldn't be seen as so insignificant in the eyes of society and art culture. Do you see why so many girls may be holding onto this rare jewel for dear life?
Damn, I've only seen the first half, this on air in 2 parts... Why did Sue speak of "her fate" if it turned out the way it did... then again this whoever he really is "Gentleman" seems capable of anything what so ever so... I WANNA SEE THE REST!! I found the book today, had it in my hands but didn't buy it, wasn't in English and I believe it should be in its original language, because of the intensity of their dialogs. Meanwhile, I content myself watching the movie again & again, straight or not pple should watch this; there's no malice just pure love... Perfect movie!

This sure is one of those movies (and books) that you wish would never end. Every one should see this! I even feel bad for those who have not seen or read such a masterpiece as Fingersmith is.

maybe you don't have all 3 parts. it is a 3-episode BBC series. each one is an hour long, so its a 3-hour movie in total.

i just received the dvd i ordered yesterday. this movie is great. maud is soooo hot in this movie. not to mention that she's also a great actress. loved her voice and her accent.
i just love everything about her. sue is great is this movie as well.

One of the best movies I have ever seen! Incredible story, twists and turns, rich characters, Secrets galore, and Sally and Elaine were both amazing in this along with the rest of the cast.

@SpaghettiWstrnGrl It is a brilliant film. I know it's in German with English subtitles but you should check out Aimee and Jaguar. That is based on a true lesbian love story set in WII Berlin. Very sad but I have to say it's my favourite of all. At least check it out if you haven't already. Amazing story and amazing acting as sad as it is.

Can someone PLEASE let me know if there is / will be fan videos of this movie that are NOT focusing on Maud/Sue love story but on the whole brilliant story around it. Or even only on Gentleman's character. It's a shame people seem to care of nothing but the lesbian love thing in this brilliant story!

Well, I wouldn't call that a shame exactly, since that is the main story. But I'm sure there are some other videos on the other characters because you are right, everything about this movie is brilliant. But please don't discount the major relationship because you don't find it the most interesting thing in the movie.

I do, because stories are more than their main events/themes. The others shoudln't be this much insignificant as they seem in fan's eyes seeing to how many tons of Sue/Maud videos there are and none or very little of anyone or anuything else...

Damn, I've only seen the first half, this on air in 2 parts... Why did Sue speak of "her fate" if it turned out the way it did... then again this whoever he really is "Gentleman" seems capable of anything what so ever so... I WANNA SEE THE REST!! One of THE most entertaining 19th century movies ever... (After Young Guns)...

I found the book today, had it in my hands but didn't buy it, wasn't in English and I believe it should be in its original language, because of the intensity of their dialogs. Meanwhile, I content myself watching the movie again & again, straight or not pple should watch this; there's no malice just pure love... Perfect movie!

Cannot actually choose between book and movie, cos both are fantastic, story, actresses, everything. but I do prefer more the end that Muad said, how much I want you.... how much.. I love you......!!

This sure is one of those movies (and books) that you wish would never end. Every one should see this! I even feel bad for those who have not seen or read such a masterpiece as Fingersmith is.
