  • I just wanted to add that you have excellent taste in fragrance and such lovely cheekbones! :)

  • @FM897 aww thanks! ;-D

  • @kokolaroo Thank you for the advice and the feedback! It's funny you mention Comptoir Sud Pacifique because I ordered a few samples of their Vanille Extreme and even though a lot of hardcore fumeheads turn up their noses at the brand, I didn't think it was half bad.

  • @FM897 I've never heard that about CSP in fact all I've ever heard was that they were a cult favorite with a high profile following. I swear everytime I wear Vanille Coco people actually follow me to ask what I'm wearing...lol ;-)

  • One of these days I'm going to cave and buy Un Bois Vanille. I've heard and read so many good reviews and I'm pretty certain I'll like it. The thing is, I'm actually looking for a true vanilla fragrance, not necessarily a complex one. But I may just purchase it anyway because it sounds so delicious!

  • @FM897 Well before you buy you really should take a whiff first. It really is unlike any Vanilla out there in my opinion...you definitely get a lot of wood/smoke and if you're more into a gourmand it's probably not for you. The truest Vanilla I'm come across is probably Comptoir Sud Pacifique ;-D

  • I am a huge Serge Lutens addict Un Bois Vanille is warm and enveloping and utterly comforting. Terriffic choices Koko xx

  • @TheSukiebapswent Such a wonderful scent! And I love that it's so different from most vanilla fragrances!! ;-D

  • Can you do an updated video on fragrances? love your videos..Can I ask what your heritage is? I was raised in an Asian neighborhood but am Latin. hello from Santa Barbara CA.

  • @sbgitana1 I've done pretty lengthy reviews of the new fragrances I've gotten since this video but perhaps down the road I will do an updated one ;-)) I'm Korean.....hello back from Canada! ;-D

  • Do you have any solid perfumes?

  • @LauraStar127 No I don't ;-)

  • I have never heard of anyone else who does that! I give away THEN purchase. So cool!! Great video thanks! 8-)

  • @freakyguru Well in reality I edit out constantly, sometimes I actually feel better getting rid of stuff than I do buying stuff....lol! ;-D

  • Pee yowzers.

    HAHA!

  • @Cardsmaster ;-P

  • @kokolaroo

Have you ever tried Black Cashmere by Donna Karan? I have a feeling you might like it - it's quite a fragrance.

  • @Cardsmaster I have smelled a Cashmere by Donna Karen but I'm not sure if it's Black....is there only one? If so...I didn't immediately respond to it but perhaps should have another whiff......;-)

  • @anamariabrown6 Omgosh I would love to sniff Serge Lutens use of Apricot!! Unfortunately Sephora stopped carrying the line ages ago. I'll have to see if they carry it anywhere else.....thanks for the tip! ;-D

  • I'll have to try the Fig & Apricot by Fresh for my wife; it really sounds fantastic. I love their Cannabis Rose, which is an impressive composition.

  • ....and with me, many perfumes do not smell good on me, or if they do, after awhile, they begin annoying my nose and I get sick of them. So for a long time I just stopped wearing anything.

  • @mzstacia79 Hopefully one day you'll be able to wear something again. I will say that your "nose" changes a lot as you age so you may not be as sensitive like you once were ;-D

  • Hello Kokolaroo! I absolutely love love Jessica Mcclintock perfume!! Like you, I used to wear it in my teens...well, my early 20's when my best friend bought it for her and I loved how it smelled on her.

  • wow good looking woman

  • I have been through soooo many bottles of Falling in Love along with the huge bottles of body wash and lotion, just wish it would last longer. :( It feels so soothing, almost like the scent of a lovely candle. I used up a big bottle of fig and apricot years ago, it had great staying power. I also buy pink sugar because hubby loves it and I do get compliments when I wear it. It isn't really for me, but you can pick it up for a great price for an everyday fragrance and surprisingly it lasts. xo

  • @dawnten I think I've picked up 6 or 7 new fragrances in the last 5 months or so, so I'm definitely taking a chill pill on new scents for awhile...lol! Have you tried the vaseline trick to make your scents last longer? Just rub a little on the areas before you spray and it should make it last longer ;-)

  • @kokolaroo Noooo I never knew about that trick! Thankyou! My fragrance collection has become out of hand as well the last couple of years. I used to always wear one signature fragrance and Chanel #5 if I went out at night to shake my tail feathers. :P My friends would often come to my home and say that it smelled like me. Now,...guess I am going through a midlife crisis and not sure who I am?? ...I have noticed that I am no longer tolerant of strong parfum scents, used to love it. xo

  • @dawnten I was exactly the same way!! I had one signature scent and now I have 10 or 12...lol! I'd like to think that that I've grown more into who I am which is multi-faceted ;-)))

  • how do you think the serge lutens vanilla scent would go on a man let me know thanks

  • Wow, we have such similar taste in perfumes! I've been debating the merits of ordering Un Bois Vanille but after hearing your favorable review I think I will bite the bullet! I love warm sweet gourmand type scents, and I since I'm such a huge fan of vanilla in general, I'm sure I''ll love this.

  • @meghandidit Hmm I wouldn't call it a gourmand....it's a VERY different type of Vanilla. One that I've never come across before. Remember it's called a woody vanillia and there's definitely a smokiness to it. If you want gourmand I would suggest you go for Laura Mercier's Gourmand line...they are amazing ;-)

  • I'm re-watching this to get some ideas. BTW...where are you girl...miss you!!!

  • Love your videos, can't wait for more! You should check out the perfume review channel "Katie Puckrik Smells" here on youtube, she's great!

  • @off2lovelyLondon I've been subbed to Katie for awhile and you're right, she is great ;-D

  • excellent, thorough, cerebral reviews. thanks for posting this - will definitely have to check out the Fig & Apricot, sounds divine!!

  • @mimzywhimzy Oh it's definitely worth a sniff ;-D

  • i like your idea of giving stuff away.. i too hate holding onto things i dont use .. id rather give them away and feel less cluttered

  • Great video! Have you found any new perfumes you like? What perfumes do you like to wear in fall/winter and colder months?

  • @Jen100ism I've recently purchased a slew of new fragrances...they are in some of the more recent haul videos ;-)

  • lmao I am also the same about the thing with giving a perfume away when I get one

  • I love your choices and I love how you explained your perfumes :) This is a great video!!

  • @chesterlover4eva Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it ;-)

  • where did u get the Fresh Fig & Apricot?

  • @michaelandria01 Sephora ;-D

  • I bet the fig leaf makes it. We used to have fig trees when I was a kid, and on a summer day the scent is downright intoxicating.

  • @johnlovesbridge I think there is more apricot to it or perhaps the fig is just a subtler scent? Either way it's gorgeous!...and yes very intoxicating! ;-D

  • I just found out that the Shiseido stores carry the Serge Lutens line and I tried Un Bois Vanille and I fell in love with it, it's the perfect vanilla perfume ever. I used to wear Flowerbomb - Viktor&Rolf but it got me really sick one day so I kinda feel sick whenever I smell anything vanilla but Un Bois Vanille is amazing even when the weather is hot and humid.

  • @hinlintin I think it's the vest Vanilla fragrance out there by far!....;-D

  • I just discovered Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille and I LOVE IT!

  • @leeyah87 Isn't it AMAZING!! It's unlike any other Vanilla fragrance I've ever smelled....soooo gorgeous and complex....and smells better and better the longer it wears.....;-D

  • Yes, I totally agree! It's a beautiful & complex vanilla - definitely nothing like any other vanilla I've tried and that says a lot because I'm a vanilla nut :op Un Bois Vanille is a "grown up" vanilla & I love that I have finally found a sweet vanilla that doesn't smell like cake. That's not to say I don't love sweet and foody vanillas because I do, but it's nice to have something more unique. I also love Indult Tihota (vanilla & musk) and Profumum Vanitas (vanilla w/ myrrh & floral notes).

  • @leeyah87 Are they both Serge Lutens as well? I have only come across about a half dozen of his fragrances and un bois vanille was the only vanilla they had out. I have to say the others were nice but way to strong for my liking....I liked the bottom note on 2 of them but the tops were too overwhelming....I think I got really lucky with un bois...LOVE IT!!

  • great collection

  • @rorychoc Thank-you ;-))

  • you are very beautiful and this was very helpful!

  • @cheshirecass aww thank-you and I'm glad you found it useful in some way ;-)))

  • I enjoy the fragrance line by Fresh and I actually have the strawberry flowers perfume. I love it but it doesn't last long after I sprayed it onto my skin. Does that happen with the fig apricot one?

  • @gaibei9 Yes I've heard a lot of people complain that

it's not very long lasting...I do find the fig & apricot does stay

for awhile on me....not sure if I could say that for everyone. Not sure

if you've heard this trick but put a little vaseline on the areas you spray

and it should keep the scent there all day. Let me know if it works for you;-))

  • I really like the scents created by Fresh and I actually have the strawberry flowers perfume. I love it but one of the down side is its inability to stay on my skin. So I was wondering if the fig apricot lasts for quite some time after it has been sprayed?

  • have you tried Jean Paul Gaultier's Classique? it smells heavenly!

  • I did have a JPG scent years ago...I think it was a gift. Was it a female figure that was sort of a blush color?....whatever it was it was a little too overwhelming for me...beautiful but just a tad stron;-)))

  • Hi!!! I really understand what you mean about cleansing and getting rid of what you don't need. Clutter to me is an emotional thing to me as well. I rather give it away to someone who will love and cherish it, than keep it pile up on my drawer collecting dust. CheersT

  • Absolutely! I actually mentioned that in a video I just recorded;-))) It seems we have like minds;-))) I love passing things on to be loved and enjoyed!

  • I love L'OCCITANE's Cherry Blossom Fragrances. Its not to sweet but fresh.

  • Thanks for sharing;-))...I'll have to check it out!

  • Love Maya's bit in Sideways too!~ One of my favorite movies. Thanks for the cool video.

  • I love her monologue!! Thanks so much for watching;-)))

  • Thank you so much! I have that same philosophy for the makeup/beauty items that I get. There are so many things out there that I would love to get, but I don't allow myself to get everything for many reasons. Mainly, when you minimize what you have, you really learn to appreciate it and actually use it up!

Btw, I love Burberry too! It's such a classic fragrance.

  • That's so true Mandy!!! I actually talk about that in another video I recorded but have yet to post;-)))

    Thanks so much for watching!!!

  • i totally agree with you - there is such a cathartic effect when minimizing the stuff in one's life!

i love your videos so far! you are so eloquent with words, which is sometimes harder to find on youtube.

    elainey sent me. :)

  • It really is so liberating isn't it!!! Thanks so much for the kind words and your support;-)))

I think Elaine sent everyone LOL!!! She's the best!

  • I haven't even watched the entire video yet but I just want to say that I sooooo need to do that! Get rid of some things. I'm overwhelmed and can't FIND the things I love because there's tooooo much!! Awesome that you can do that!!

  • Do it do it....I guarantee you won't regret it!!!

  • Oh yeah ? It's weird because aqua allegoria are really light fragrance (eau de toilette) but as you say the scent of a fragrance is always different depending people. Because if you talk about Givenchy yes I agree it's kind of heavy

  • Yay! Great collection and really tantalising descriptions!

I'm quite inspired by your cyclical approach--something new comes in means something else has to be passed on. I met a chocolatier in Brussels who has a similar concept: each month she introduces a new praline (or whatever) and takes something away.

Really great idea to donate cosmetics et al to shelters or charities, too. I'm going to follow suit....

    Bises!

  • Oh I'm soooo thrilled to hear that you will follow suit. I have to say that the first time I incorporated that philosophy it was unbelievably liberating!! I hope you have a similar experience;-)) Besides it's so wonderful to live life with a giving heart ;-))) Thanks again for watching!

  • I ordered the Burberry classic on strawberry net I'm impatient to receive it! I loved this smell on a friend of mine! :)) I used to love this Bvlgari too!

  • Oh you have to tell me how you like it! I loved this on a friend of mine too...which is why I got it. It smells a little different on me than it did on her but I still liked it. It sounds like we have very similar tastes in fragrances ;-)))

  • I remember when I went to China about 3 years , I was wearing Givenchy Very Irresistible and I keep this frangrance and when I smell it it's an emotion that I can't describe , it's wonderful !

  • I love when you smell something and if you close your eyes you are transported right back to that time!!!

  • I know Serge Lutens but the vanilla one I didn't know so if you say it's the best smell of vanilla I will smell it. I really appreciate vanilla sent even if I think it doesn't correspond to my personality Anyway I also think that you're defenitely right about that this is really important to let the fragrance live onto your skin for a while before to decide to by it. I'm so sensitive to the smell of a person , it's so important !

  • I love vanilla and the Serge Lutens is the most complicated one I've ever smelled. I don't really like vanilla when it smells like candy...if you know what I mean ;) If you do smell it, let me know what you think :-)

  • I like Hermes Jardin sur le Nil.

My perfumes are Chloé and also an Aqua Allegoria Pivoine Magnifica by Guerlain. And it has a strong smell of peony which is my favorite sent of flower so if you like peony you absolutely need to smell it ! To me it's the best brand (Guerlain) because it's really about their experience I think you can't find someting similar in the other brand like YSL , Givenchy (even if I love Very Irresistible) , Chanel and more which smell always the same or almost.

  • I have smelled a few of the ones you mentioned but alas they were a bit too strong for me :(
