This is so naive, I agree that 5 year olds shouldn't have games for they're growing up, but not 8-18. It is not shocking they only ask kids who have the worst deformity (even though her hands didn't even look bad) and not just ANY teen in general, always the worst case one or the "terrified" mother of the kid. I'm 18 and I been gaming since 8 and I am still normal(if not better hand-eye coordination and reading/deducing capability) then others who just go out and throw a football till college
@gttown44 yea just like there are so many parents and children who are retarded, or viotlent, or with missing teeth, she has nothing to worry on. I am happy that I guess I "survived this epidemic thats ruining gamers" but I seriously dont see her as a gamer and if she was and she played the n64 then she has issue...She must of held it wrong for too long.
im sure theres some controller that less impacts the growth and deformation of the hands though. i'll admit the n64 is a really weird controller. and i bet something like wii isnt doing this.
I have this problem haha it was good times on super smash bros, i have a harder time catching than most people, but im still a good catcher just got to catch it with your fingers not your palms.
also when you point, my finger is bent downwards in the middle and then back up and finally a little down again
@diamondsray ask your dr. to look at the left side of my web site. His deformed fingers from driving are on the right side. If he has any questions...contact me
@PirateKing1256 It's better not to play until your bones are hard enough to withstand the dynamic force shock loads that are inflicted when playing. What age is OK? NO ONE KNOWS !
I have a process that will correct deformities to what degree is not know yet. Our people and the medical industry blame biological errors for our problems and fail to recognize the mechanical engineering aspects from external forces on our skeletal system. Corrective actions will happen, but later. Thank you for your question.
ive been playing games consoles regularly since the age of around 8 or so i turn 21 this year my fingers have nothing wrong with them and i can play consoles for upwards of 5 hours a day if im in the mood even now wuith no visible dformities to my fingers thumbs or hands
That girl was not hired. All people on our site, the videos, in our book are actual injured people that devoted their time and subjected themselves to ridicule so they could try to deliver a warning to the parents so they might take heed and avoid their children developing these injuries. These are brave young children that donate their time to this cause. Remember their wordsthis will come to be.
It will eventually bother you and interfer with your ability to perform phusical tasks. The bad part is your thumbs...you will lose the use of them when grasping items of weight. I'm sorry... Mike
You will not feel anything. Kinetic Energy is causing the curved fingers and twisted knuckles. These injuries are inflicted without any discomfort. You'll start to notice it with a physical strength loss...in gripping. One easy one is loss in strength trying to open jars. Next is inability to handle small parts.
Actually, since I found out about this ive examined alot of peoples hands including my parents from driving. Everyone has bent/crooked fingers to some degree, the vast majority of them NO WHERE NEAR the people in this video BUT they are bent/crooked to some degree including mine.
Now, you may say how "Then how come your fingers are fine", because I know the limits of playing. i don't continue playing if my hands start hurting or start aching; I stop and rest them. This girl is a idiot for not following that simple rule of video games. Video game booklets(I read and collect them as well) clearly state that you should not play if your hands ache. This is sort of the same thing with keyboards ad computers; but do you see the news companies reportig on that? NO!!
DZK - The curved fingers and twisted knuckles are created without any discomfort.
Kinetic Energy injuries are silent and accumulative. Taking a rest doesn't help, your fingers will still deform. Taking a break does not help. The injuries are accumulative. This is the biggest kept secret in the industry. They arent going to warn you because other processes also deliver injuries. It so happens that video gaming is the most popular with damaging Kinetic Energy Dynamic Forces.
that these companies will throw at them. I'm also furious at the fact that their showing the N64 and GBC, which do NOT represent the controllers/systems of today. In fact, those systems were BETTER for your hands then say, the Wii. The Wii can cramp your arms within about an hour. An N64 controller exercises your fingers, and the pain and aches would only occur if you were very aggressive with the controller, or if you played nearly 24 hours a day(Which is impossible if the kid went to school).
Young children should not use the Wii. It causes deformities because the children's bones are much too soft and small to withstand the dynamic forces generated in the playing. Including the vibration and trigger pulling.
Microsoft executives told Senator Joe Lieberman the video gaming deformed children's fingers during a meeting in Lieberman's office on 11-14-07.
The Wii was designed to replace the Nintendo...but it is equally damaging for young children.
Thanks megamanzer0 for being opened minded. The funny thing about this is the stiff steering on vehicles became popular at the same time video gaming did.
Stiff steering and video gaming inflict deformities to the hands within a few weeks. Adults compare their driving deformed fingers to their children's deformed video gaming fingers...and say theirs are the same as mine :) My child does not have a problem :) :) What a mess!
I was playing video games since I was 2! My fingers are perfectly normal! And I played a lot of N64 too, and even with that controller nothing happened!
I usally will disagree with these "studies" as they usually are just bs but I could easily see the n64 screwing up your hand it was clumsy and akward to hold. It wouldn't happen with any other controller, I've been playing video games since I was 4 or 5 and am now 25 and never had any problems.
Actually, that did nothing to my thumb but leave a small little scar.
Google "video games deformed" or something. You can find a lot of pictures if you search the right terms. Fingers are meant to wrap around things, yes, but they aren't meant to stay in a bent/pushed position over extended periods of time. Trust me, my hand perfectly matches the contour of an N64 controller, and the way I would sit for hours on end made me bow-legged. Of course, I would play for 9+ hours daily, I had no life
This really needs to be looked at. It's unfotunate that the big corporations always have all the money and power to keep this stuff hidden and not even have to try to change anything.

I can Guarantee you're hands are not fine, we have similar gaming history and my pointer/middle finger are curved. Is it noticeable? yes.
Does it bother me? not a chance. Majority of peoples hands are bent ive personally observed it. Does that change anything? nope I'll still game :)
