  • I love this!!!!

  • "Come with me to the Emerald City!"

    "Seattle??"

    First thought!

  • @subwayeatfresh45 Just wondering why did you think of seattle?

  • @Estarile Seattle has a nickname and that is the "Emerald City."

  • i live in NY so when i went to LA I sang this all day long a lot of people thought it was cool

  • 1:09= KACHING!$

  • Someone should make a video about one short day, in the Windy City!

  • Elhaba Menzel and Glinda Chenoweth :)

  • This is my fave song

  • "Come with me...to the Emerald City."

    "ok!"

  • I learned this song before I went to New York last year. When I went to New York, I went to a workshop with my choir and learned the choreography with an ensemble member of the Broadway cast.

  • That chord they make at 2:11. DAMN.

  • Why is Kristin Chenoweth the only one credited singing this song?

  • I love how at 2:14 Elphaba and Glinda sing the main "One short day..." as the Emerald City citizens sing "who's the mage, whose major..."

It sounds so wonderful in unison :D

  • Over the summer I helped a few kids at a drama center do Wicked and this was the number one song <3

  • My biggest dream: spend one short day in the emerald city.

  • My biggest dream: be Elphaba on Broadway or the touring company

  • @Sangofan4ever Amen sister.

  • @latigremusic Same here. Elphaba Thropp is my favorite character. I'm being her for Halloween.

  • @Alexandra01842 I was Elphie for my cousin's halloween birthday party last year. It took me hours to get the paint off though. You might want to give the greenery a miss

  • My biggest dream: Be Glinda in this show on Broadway.

  • @CameragirlRileyJ My biggest goal is to play Elphie. Let's work on this goal together.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG I'M GOING TO GO SEE THIS PLAY IN EL PASO,TEXAS IN AUGAST

  • @broadwayxdude06 On the 22nd. Can't wait!

  • @KatieeeBug03 mine's is 20th! we'll have to right about this later! do you know who the current cast is? i thought it was teal and katie ( who i saw it with the last time as glinda, she was phenomenal, carmen cusack played elphaba) but they're on broadway straight from the tour.

  • @broadwayxdude06 The website says the current cast on tour is: Anne Brummel as Elphaba, Natalie Daradich as Glinda, Jody Gelb as Madame Morrible, Don Amendolia as The Wizard, etc.

  • @KatieeeBug03 oh thank you very much! my friend saw it in pittsburgh, i see it tuesday and she was saying it was anne something and natalie.. im thinking it was the natalie that played elphaba a couple years ago. thank you! i looked all over for it. i can't find the cast button on the website:( i literally looked all over for it

  • @broadwayxdude06 To find the cast just go to the button that says Wicked Cities, on the drop menue go to On Tour, it Lists Pittsburgh at the top, and click on the gray Company Info button. That's where you'll find the cast. Hope that helps :)

  • Could we say this is the BIG piece from Wicked, with all the cast ? Like Masquerade from the Phantom ?

  • done this play in belfast with cinemagic, best experience ever! :-D

  • Come on! We'll be late for Wiz-O-Mania!

  • @justawonderland I agree. I didnt even see him when I went, he was sick so I got the understudy. Not complaining really. haha

  • best broadway musical!!

  • When I went to NYC this weekend for a trip with our showchior we met a guy named Kenway who is in this musical on Broadway! there, he taught us the choreography (from the actual preformance) to a small part of this song and we learned the music too! it was one of the best experiences of my life, and Wicked was the best thing I've ever watched. ,3

  • @SwaggaOfACripple I did the same in London today :D

  • on kristin chenoweths last night, instead of "come with me to the emerald city"

idina menzel said "stay with me, ill miss you"

kristin burst into tears, and then idina was like

"hey lets go the emerald city"

    so cute

  • 4 people never went to Wizomania

  • I love this play! i feel deeply about it and i say that i would see it ALL the time. i cant get over this song after i lisen to it!

  • I LOVE THIS PLAY!! I CRYED AT THE SONG FOR GOOD!

  • @lovelybratteen same :)

  • @lovelybratteen I have not seen this play yet, but the first time I heard "For Good" I had tears in my eyes too!

  • @justawonderland

good point but, Tim Burtons films and all arent GOTHIC, he just likes making films that may be scary and good to watch at the same time, this is not a hate comment

im just saying my opinion so ya :)

  • @justawonderland plus, after Sweeney Todd, I'm afraid he would cut the chorus.... If they were making a movie just off the book, maybe... it's way darker

  • I am going to see Wicked today with my bff!! =D

  • i love musicals SO much so this is fab song :)

  • I love how this sounds so much like a welcome to an amusement park.

  • @justawonderland Actually, the book the play is based off of is very dark, so Burton would probably do a lovely job with it.

  • 4 people missed the "like" button...

  • Now I wanna visit The Emerald City. <3 *.*

This song is so fun! :DD

  • @justawonderland Well, as much as I love Idina and Kristin, I think it's time we start making way for new performers to appreciate their hard work and decidication. Idina thinks so too.

Oh, and they cast girls who can sing and act (Broadway performers preferred), no amateurs, unless they surprise me.

  • imma sdo it for the talent sho

  • @justawonderland I know! They should just hurry up and make the musical with the originals. It would be blasphemy for someone else to sing Defying Gravity, or Popular D;

  • @PrescribedDelight So everyone else on Broadway who play Elphaba and G(a)linda are are blaspheming, in your opinion? That seems extremely narrow-minded. Just because Idina and Kristin did it first, doesn't mean others can't do it just as well!

  • @jmosketti1281 The original Elphaba was actually Stephanie J. Block I believe (who the role was written for)...Idina was just the original on Broadway in NY.

  • @jakemkay no Stephanie was Idina's understudy she went on when Idina cracked her rib falling through the trap door

  • @ChelseaSmileMusicLuv Idina was the original brodway but Stephanie J. Block still originated the role...and I quote for wikipedia "Stephanie J. Block (born September 19, 1972 in Brea, California) is an American actress and singer. She is most well known for her work on the Broadway stage and for originating the role of Elphaba in the early workshops of Wicked."

  • I love this song it is great to dance to

  • love the song but 2 me the best play on broadway

  • Not gonna lie;

I always end up dancing and singing into my hairbrush...

  • @justawonderland But, the actual book is actually rather dark. So.. wouldn't it fit? Also.. people thought that's how Alice would be, but it actually wasn't very dark. I don't know.. I think it'd be good if he did it.. maybe if it was just the book.

Perhaps the musical shouldn't really be made into a movie, I just think that.. because I don't think anyone could ever really get the musical right, especially if the originals would be too old to play in it. x:

  • 3 people had one long day....

  • @greatwpzz

well i think lion king is pretty good

but to me Wicked is the best

    not a hare comment (:

  • @mickygirl929 it is the best play on brodway

  • @mickygirl929

This and Rent. Idina menzel is amaaaaaaaaaaazing.

  • @mickygirl929 Best play in the West End, too.

  • @mickygirl929

    probably????

  • I wonder what Wicked would be like as a movie directed by Tim Burton? O_O

  • @SoukuneKana Instead of Wicked, try thinking of Wizard of Oz in general. Burton would probably be more keen to mess with the original rather than the Wicked version.

  • @SoukuneKana it would fail. and I think he would ruin all the love and soul that wicked has. xD I know I sound really sour. but I never liked his directing style. It's all on the surface-- I never feel any depth or dynamics in the characters. Theres a strange disconnect between dialogue and emotion. I hate it. None of it tugs at my heart. I think he forces it. Even with the orignial Wizard of Oz. He'd just win with the flying monkeys.
