such a close minded religon..or rather blind faith...this is evil to me.. but the image of Christ as a man of good works and perhaps even divine insight that I can understand.. God himselfhowever, no not even close... If being a good hearted person doing good deeds with an appreciation for the divine is not enough, then to hell fire I go sad but I guess that's how it goes. Sorry I don't share the same revelation of waht claims to be Jehova's words "The Bible"
People have accepted Catholics as christian. So where do you draw the line! Christianity is just a word that doesn't mean anything, There are somewhere around 3,000 denominations of followers who claim to believe in and follow Jesus Christ. Yet none of them agree with each other, and are busy cherry picking the Bible, and twisting the words around to make it say, what they want. Let Jesus sort it all out. We are called to love one another. So where is true Christianity?
@RudeAwakning those people that twist around the words and sugar coat it to fit their own needs are blasphemous liars that dont deserve to call themselves christians. true christianity is not just believing in christ just because thats the religion in a nutshell. christianity is more in depth than that and you must base your life solely on the purpose of living like Jesus himself and living sin-free. as far as WHERE it is? i couldnt tell you. people have all but abandoned christianity these days
The Church came before the Bible. Christ told His disciples, "Go out and PREACH & Teach to all nations." He never said to write a book, except to John in Rev. The printing press was not invented until 1500 yrs after Christ. Prior to that it took years for monks to write them and at that time, hardly anyone even knew how to read. The Bible came from the Catholics. All other religions are man-made. Christ gave the KEYS of THE Kingdom to Heaven to St. Peter, down to Pope Benedict XVI.
Anti-Mormon blogger validate the truthfulness of the restored Church of Jesus Christ by their attacks. Jesus was regularly accused of working for the devil and the crime He was wrongfully crucified for was blasphemy against God. Ironical the same type of accusation made against His modern day prophets and Church today. Mark 3:22
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" Isaiah 5:20
Born again concepts turn out to be totally false if you actually measure them against what the New Testament says. Yet these born again video makers are pretending to be the ones that stick with the scriptures. Do these people actually read all the scriptures or do the do the typical cherry picking and taking out of context.
didn't your GOD say " there shall be no other gods before me!" so why do you worship Jesus an man who said he was the son of your god , Jesus can't be god because he talked to god as his god so unless he was mad he was talking to him self . so by worshiping jesus you brake your own rules ? I believe in the wizard of OZ life is a journey and there is no wizard at the end just a man behind a curtain claiming to be a god , we have all we need in are selves
The Problem with defending christianity is that everything u are saying in this video has already been said before. Christians and Muslims are the only groups that "demonize" non-members of their group. The problem with Christianity is that it is a dogmatic Iron age religion trying to survive the intellectual curiosious atmosphere of the Information age where telling people to simply "believe" and not think won't cut it.
Regardless of what you think of his other teachings I would like to share a fitting quote from Charles Stanley; "Man couldn't have written the Bible if he would have, and wouldn't have written the Bible if he could have.." Not only is this true but it should give pause to consider for agnostics and anyone else who is weak in their faith. God Loves Us! His Word is a gift and should be cherished by all of humanity.
Jude was a Jew. Could it be that it was the Jewish faith (possibly in its Messianic incarnation) that he was referring to? There is no evidence that the "apostles" converted to a "new" religion (except possibly Shaul (Paul). They remained observant Jews. Yeshua (Jesus) warned his followers that he did not come to abolish the Law. He also said that anyone who ignored least of the commandment (mitzvot) would be least in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Uh . . . ! There are two different Jesuses in the Bible?! But now you seem to be manipulating your very scriptures, accepting some and discounting others as having (and correctly so) pagan origins. The truth is, ALL mentionings of Jesus in the Bible are references to solar cyclicity, or, as I said, to a state of mind, known as the Christ Consciousness.
I didn't say there are two different Jesus' in the Bible as in two true ones. I said there are "false Christs" which is exactly what the real Christ said and is recorded in the Bible. (Mark 13:6; 21-22) (You have read the Bible, I take it. Surely someone that opposes something knows what they oppose.)
Yes, I have read the Bible (most of it, anyway). I used to be a Christian, believe it or not. During those times, I used to blindy "believe". Now, I don't believe in anything. I either know or don't know. Blind faith does not suffice for me any more. Anyway . . . I enjoyed our little chat! Nice speaking to you, and all the best.
I realize that you're going, but I just want you to know that I'll be praying for you. One thing Jesus said is "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not (done many things) in your name? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity." (Mat 7:22-23) Note that he doesn't say, "I knew you, but because of your sin of thievery, unbelief, etc, I became forgetful." He says, "I never knew you."
Many people think that because they prayed a prayer, walked an aisle, went to Bible School, or did something else that they believed in Jesus when that is hardly the case. I'm not sure if this is the exact case with you, but it sounds like it to some degree. It has happened to many.
There a great preacher named Paul Washer who rebukes the pastors of this day for doing those methods and leaving people with false assurances. I have some of his videos. I'll share one with you if you like. Just let me know.
LaneCh, you sound like a great guy. Let me conclude our discussion with this . . . I was a TRUE believer. I have the Bible in Greek, Latin and nearly all the English translations. I even have the Apocrypha. Whenever doubt would arise, I would explain it like this: I can never hope to understand God. Unfortunatley, that's not enough for me anymore. Hope it remains enough for you, as you seem very content and happy with your faith. Take care.
Orthodox, as I used to believe that it was the least changed of all Christian sects. However, I now favour the Coptic Church for the same reason. It is the most like the very early Christian sects, which, as far as I'm aware, had a gnostic and mystical resonance.
Oh, I'm not familiar with the Coptics. I do know, however, that the gnostics weren't part of the early church. They were actually heretics that tried to claim to be Christians. They wrote many things, but they aren't held by believers as being true. Ireaneus wrote "Against Heresies" refuting many of them. Have you ever read any Protestant writers?
The same holds true with Mithra and Christ. I admit that Mithra isn't a real god, but because Mithra isn't, that doesn't discount Jesus Christ who has come in the flesh.
I feel sorry for people who believe in God. What a load of nonsense! God was created by man as a pathetic means of trying to explain his (man's) existence. Accordingly, the concept is replete with ambiguities and inconsistencies, just like any other man-conceived theory. The truth behind man's and the universe's existence is far more profound than anything we, as humans, can currently hope to understand.
Unbelief is a product of man hating the truth and loving a lie. Evolution (although I'm not sure if you hold to it; I know many unbelievers do) is really the pathetic means of man trying to explain his existence. I do agree, though, that the universe is far more profound than we can possibly conceive. Knowing who the Creator of it is (the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), however, isn't.
"Unbelief is a product of man hating the truth and loving a lie." Uh . . . With all due respect, what are you talking about? The truth for me is a matter of fact. The truth for you is a matter of "blind" faith. I can backup my view; you, unfortunately, cannot. And, yes, I fully accept evolution. I'm a palaeobiologist.
The truth is you're a sinner and not only do you say you have no sin, you say that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is not the true God. That's called lying.
I'm a sinner, am I? You seem to think that you know me very well. Please tell me why I'm a sinner. According to your scriptors, I'm a sinner because Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge. Apparently, I'm going to burn in hell for this, unless I accept Jesus of Nazareth as my Saviour. Yeah, right! I'm really going to blindly accept that as fact and live my life by it, without questioning it!
Yes. I suppose I'm going to burn in hell now, right? Didn't Jesus of Nazareth himself preach that no-one should judge another? Yet you seem to be very ready to deal out judgement. Isn't that a sin, too?
As far as the judging issue, Jesus did say as recorded in Matthew 7:1 "Do not judge lest you be judged." but he also said in John 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance but judge with righteous judgment." Does he contradict himself? No. If you take Matt 7:1 in context, he is talking to Pharisees and remarking against hypocritical judgment.
Everyone's sinned some time in their life. To scare people with the prospect of eternal hell is just plain wrong. The truth in my opinion is that God, Jesus, angels, Lucifer, etc., are all just myths, and I lament the fact that twenty-first century Man still entertains such concepts. No disrespect; it's just my opinion.
Also, you correctly state that what you say is your opinion, but you must understand the difference between opinion and truth. For example, you may have $20 in the bank. Someone may come along and say, ...
"Well, I don't believe you have $20 in the bank. My opinion is that you don't have $20 in the bank." Does their opinion negate the fact that you have $20 in the bank? Of course not which is why it's dangerous to rely on opinions. I'm going to attach a video that deals a little more with this.
"Well, I don't believe you have $20 in the bank. My opinion is that you don't have $20 in the bank." Does their opinion negate the fact that you have $20 in the bank? Of course not which is why it's dangerous to rely on opinions. I'm going to attach a video that deals a little more with this. You'll know which one I posted for you when you look at it.
You are very insistent that what you propound is cast-iron truth. Here's the truth, according to me . . . The Bible is almost entirely astrotheology in context. Whenever it speaks of Jesus, it is in fact speaking of one of two things: the Sun, or a state of consciousness which all must strive to attain. (Please approve that I my continue . . .)
Kind of. The story of the crucified, virgin-born saviour is an ancient one, much older than Jesus. Looking back into history, there are at least 17 accounts of this story. None of them speak of an actual person but the Sun's cyclicity, and in particular, its annual and precessional cycles. And the story also has another, more profound, meaning . . .
I can see where you can confuse the Jesus of Scripture with the Jesus of Christ's mass (Christmas), but they are two different people. Although Mithra was a Sun God and Dec. 25th later came to be known as the birthday of the Son of God, it still doesn't negate the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in the flesh to atone for the sins which both you and I admit we have by the shedding of his blood for everyone who believes.
See they are two different people and what I've been guilty of in the same thing in the past of saying if a is true, b is true so if b is true, then a definitely true. In other words, (in this example) when it rains, the ground is wet. The ground is wet so it's rained. Well, a water truck could have come by or the neighbor had his hose on, etc.
Again, we start from different axioms. The worst that could happen to you if mine is right according to the Bible is you are sent into hell to burn eternally for your unbelief. The worst that could happen to me if yours is right according to you and your friend's subjective opinions is I'm not accepted as being "rational", but if my axiom is true, then the worst that could happen to me according to you and your friends is actually a blessing, not a hindrance.
Hardly any offence here, but claiming that God exists, because you believe that he exists is one of the most pathetic reasons I've ever heard this far. It seems that reaching the Heavens is your only reason for believing in Christianity anyway, i.e. a spiritual insurance. Good luck on getting there with this policy, by the way.
There's little point in trying to find a bit of reason in a fanatic, which, you Sir, certainly are. Try using your axiom for figuring out why.
If you consider this a victory, great, keep living in your fancy little world. "Arguing" with you is a mere waste of time as your intellectual abilities are, pardon me saying, rather mild. Be well.
It's obvious that you couldn't stay away as you insinuated you would. If my intellectual abilities are so weak, (according to your opinion, of course) why have I not been the one who resorts to ad hominem attacks? It's rather obvious who doesn't deal with the issues. Take comfort in knowing that your opinion isn't as autonomous as you may believe it is. It will be a big crash to you ego to realize that, but, in time, it will surely be a blessing if you admit that.
For example, I hold that if you say you have no sin, you are deceived and the truth is not in you. (1John 1:8) Obviously you don't hold to this standard of determining a person's credibility, but if I changed that standard as an axiom, I wouldn't really be a believer of what the Bible says.
No, but you can discard my comment, declaring the victory over a fleeing non-believer.
Never the less, let me ask you a question: Why should God exist? Why shouldn't the Dragons and whatever from Beowulf exist? Define a difference between the two mystic entities we've learned from early medieval literature.
Well, first you have to agree that we start from two different axioms so if you stay an unbeliever, you will not agree with my axiom, but I will share with you the truth of the matter.
First, the question really isn't, "why should God exisit?" It should rather be "Does God exist?" and when you ask that, you have to understand that I don't hold that Allah, Zeus, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster are real gods so the only position I debate is the position that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the only true god; the others are false.
As far as Beowulf, I've not actually read it or seen the movie, but I've read reviews of it and they've said that the movie greatly differs from the book. I've heard that the book is somewhat of an allegory of Christianity although I can't affirm that directly.
I am familiar with the Scriptures, though. Are you familiar with the actual claims made BY the Bible or just the claims made ABOUT the Bible? The reason I ask is because there are many who hear claims made about it and dismiss it altogether without examining what it actually claims.
Okay, look, I think you're not really following me, so I'll try again. The question is precisely, "Why should God exist?". What is your reason for believing in God's existence? As for Beowulf, it was a mere analogy to the Bible, in my eyes, yet another fictional scripture. To get back to the point, why do you believe in God, from the Bible, but not in the Dragon, from the Beowulf?
Again, we start from different axioms so I don't agree with yours. You start with "Why should God exist?" I start from "Why should we exist?" I come from the view that I have sinned against God. If you believe the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob does not exist, then you don't believe you've sinned against a "fictional character". I start with the premise, "Why should we exist after sinning against Him?" You start with "Why should God exist? I haven't done anything wrong."
You still aren't following me. It's your reasoning, not your point of view that's crucial here. Why do you believe that God should exist? Why do you believe in Him? Why don't you believe in Spiderman? Finally getting my point?
And, no, I do not reject the idea of God because I'm scared of his wrath, but because of I cannot be scared of something that in my eyes doesn't even exist.
"And, no, I do not reject the idea of God because I'm scared of his wrath, but because of I cannot be scared of something that in my eyes doesn't even exist."
That's precisely what I said above. You don't fear him which is why you think you know something, but you don't know anything as Scriptures say "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Prov. 1:7)
"You still aren't following me. It's your reasoning, not your point of view that's crucial here."
I understand exactly what you're saying. You're saying that because you don't believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, I have to begin with the same premise and compare Him to Spiderman or some fictional character to a novel.
Again, you're asking me to adopt a premise which would exclude my belief, just as I am asking you to accept one that would exclude your unbelief. It's really as simple as that. I tell you the reason you don't believe is because you don't fear God. You tell me the reason I do is because I don't think by reason, basically.
Absolutely falls. That's why you've got gas, light and YouTube in your house. But I'm quite certain that clergy could do much better at all of the above, should they feel like it.
If gas, light, Youtube, and yourself is your God and what you serve, then, of course, your answer naturally ensues. Who gives a scientist the knowledge to make gas, a light, Youtube, etc.?
The difference between Mormons and other christians is that other christians believe that they are saved by faith alone and nothing more. Mormons believe that not only by faith but through Christ-like actions we are saved.
While I agree that there is definitely hypocrisy among some RC's (as well as some who profess to be Christians), Mormons and Christians do not believe the same things. Mormons may use the same terms, but the definitions are vastly different. See the video attached above (the blue one). Christianity isn't about having our own righteousness which is of the law, but the righteousness of Christ that comes by faith.
Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins. Jesus shed his and it is by believing, repenting, and trusting that we have fellowship with God and are made right in His sight. (Php 3:9; Heb 9:22)
If anything, those scriptures are testifying against catholics. i have known many catholics in my life and they are far from christians. they say that they are rightous people but many that i have known do not attend chruch often and instead spend their weekends committing sin. Yet, they still claim that they are christians.
Now ask urself, did Jesus HIMSELF ever said/spoken in ANY VERSION of the bible the word 'CHRISTIAN' itself?
ANSWER: NO. There isnt any.
Be far from him even saying ['CHRISTIAN' is ur religion] OR [my followers are call 'CHRISTIAN'] itself since he didnt even utter the word 'CHRISTIAN'..
So i wonder by WHOSE authority did u CLAIMED urself to be 'CHRISTIAN'?

"Well, I don't believe you have $20 in the bank. My opinion is that you don't have $20 in the bank." Does their opinion negate the fact that you have $20 in the bank? Of course not which is why it's dangerous to rely on opinions. I'm going to attach a video that deals a little more with this.

(Please approve that I my continue . . .)
turxxx 4 years ago
Why do you think the Bible speaks of the Sun when it refers to Jesus? Is it because of Mithra?
LaneCh 4 years ago
Kind of. The story of the crucified, virgin-born saviour is an ancient one, much older than Jesus. Looking back into history, there are at least 17 accounts of this story. None of them speak of an actual person but the Sun's cyclicity, and in particular, its annual and precessional cycles. And the story also has another, more profound, meaning . . .
turxxx 4 years ago
I can see where you can confuse the Jesus of Scripture with the Jesus of Christ's mass (Christmas), but they are two different people. Although Mithra was a Sun God and Dec. 25th later came to be known as the birthday of the Son of God, it still doesn't negate the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God came in the flesh to atone for the sins which both you and I admit we have by the shedding of his blood for everyone who believes.
LaneCh 4 years ago

LaneCh 4 years ago
Hardly any offence here, but claiming that God exists, because you believe that he exists is one of the most pathetic reasons I've ever heard this far. It seems that reaching the Heavens is your only reason for believing in Christianity anyway, i.e. a spiritual insurance. Good luck on getting there with this policy, by the way.
There's little point in trying to find a bit of reason in a fanatic, which, you Sir, certainly are. Try using your axiom for figuring out why.

"claiming that God exists, because you believe that he exists is one of the most pathetic reasons I've ever heard this far"
It's one of the most pathetic I've heard, too. Who said that?

Ah, the ad hominem: the mark of a true defeat.
LaneCh 4 years ago
If you consider this a victory, great, keep living in your fancy little world. "Arguing" with you is a mere waste of time as your intellectual abilities are, pardon me saying, rather mild. Be well.
maxgrin 4 years ago
It's obvious that you couldn't stay away as you insinuated you would. If my intellectual abilities are so weak, (according to your opinion, of course) why have I not been the one who resorts to ad hominem attacks? It's rather obvious who doesn't deal with the issues. Take comfort in knowing that your opinion isn't as autonomous as you may believe it is. It will be a big crash to you ego to realize that, but, in time, it will surely be a blessing if you admit that.

Do you agree that we have different axioms?
For example, I hold that if you say you have no sin, you are deceived and the truth is not in you. (1John 1:8) Obviously you don't hold to this standard of determining a person's credibility, but if I changed that standard as an axiom, I wouldn't really be a believer of what the Bible says.
LaneCh 4 years ago
Oh great, another censure fan. Been nice chatting to you. Your God will get you some day for that.
maxgrin 4 years ago
Ah... and unbelievers don't operate on false presumptions, right?
LaneCh 4 years ago
No, we don't operate with people who will cut the line short once the situation gets too tight for them, which is always the case.
maxgrin 4 years ago
Did I do this?
LaneCh 4 years ago
No, but you can discard my comment, declaring the victory over a fleeing non-believer.
Never the less, let me ask you a question: Why should God exist? Why shouldn't the Dragons and whatever from Beowulf exist? Define a difference between the two mystic entities we've learned from early medieval literature.
maxgrin 4 years ago
Well, first you have to agree that we start from two different axioms so if you stay an unbeliever, you will not agree with my axiom, but I will share with you the truth of the matter.
LaneCh 4 years ago
First, the question really isn't, "why should God exisit?" It should rather be "Does God exist?" and when you ask that, you have to understand that I don't hold that Allah, Zeus, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster are real gods so the only position I debate is the position that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the only true god; the others are false.
LaneCh 4 years ago
As far as Beowulf, I've not actually read it or seen the movie, but I've read reviews of it and they've said that the movie greatly differs from the book. I've heard that the book is somewhat of an allegory of Christianity although I can't affirm that directly.
LaneCh 4 years ago
I am familiar with the Scriptures, though. Are you familiar with the actual claims made BY the Bible or just the claims made ABOUT the Bible? The reason I ask is because there are many who hear claims made about it and dismiss it altogether without examining what it actually claims.
LaneCh 4 years ago
Okay, look, I think you're not really following me, so I'll try again. The question is precisely, "Why should God exist?". What is your reason for believing in God's existence? As for Beowulf, it was a mere analogy to the Bible, in my eyes, yet another fictional scripture. To get back to the point, why do you believe in God, from the Bible, but not in the Dragon, from the Beowulf?
maxgrin 4 years ago
Again, we start from different axioms so I don't agree with yours. You start with "Why should God exist?" I start from "Why should we exist?" I come from the view that I have sinned against God. If you believe the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob does not exist, then you don't believe you've sinned against a "fictional character". I start with the premise, "Why should we exist after sinning against Him?" You start with "Why should God exist? I haven't done anything wrong."
LaneCh 4 years ago
You still aren't following me. It's your reasoning, not your point of view that's crucial here. Why do you believe that God should exist? Why do you believe in Him? Why don't you believe in Spiderman? Finally getting my point?
And, no, I do not reject the idea of God because I'm scared of his wrath, but because of I cannot be scared of something that in my eyes doesn't even exist.
maxgrin 4 years ago
"And, no, I do not reject the idea of God because I'm scared of his wrath, but because of I cannot be scared of something that in my eyes doesn't even exist."
That's precisely what I said above. You don't fear him which is why you think you know something, but you don't know anything as Scriptures say "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Prov. 1:7)
LaneCh 4 years ago
"You still aren't following me. It's your reasoning, not your point of view that's crucial here."
I understand exactly what you're saying. You're saying that because you don't believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, I have to begin with the same premise and compare Him to Spiderman or some fictional character to a novel.
LaneCh 4 years ago
Again, you're asking me to adopt a premise which would exclude my belief, just as I am asking you to accept one that would exclude your unbelief. It's really as simple as that. I tell you the reason you don't believe is because you don't fear God. You tell me the reason I do is because I don't think by reason, basically.

You all share in a common belief.

Yet it is based upon rational and empirical conclusions, rather than blind faith.

Absolutely falls. That's why you've got gas, light and YouTube in your house. But I'm quite certain that clergy could do much better at all of the above, should they feel like it.
maxgrin 4 years ago
Do you assume that I'm Roman Catholic?
If gas, light, Youtube, and yourself is your God and what you serve, then, of course, your answer naturally ensues. Who gives a scientist the knowledge to make gas, a light, Youtube, etc.?

The difference between Mormons and other christians is that other christians believe that they are saved by faith alone and nothing more. Mormons believe that not only by faith but through Christ-like actions we are saved.
drummer703 4 years ago

Nice video, but it seems to stress the word Apostolic alot. However, I believe in the Apostle Doctrine (Acts 2:42)

If anything, those scriptures are testifying against catholics. i have known many catholics in my life and they are far from christians. they say that they are rightous people but many that i have known do not attend chruch often and instead spend their weekends committing sin. Yet, they still claim that they are christians.

Stupid & Ignorant 'CHRISTIAN's FOOLS.
