  • thumbs up if u start saying yes after 6:54

  • I was just diagnosed today

  • ive felt fatigued, slugish in the mournings, crappy short term memory for the past 3yrs, depressed for the past 5yrs, all i did was "man the fuck up" and keep on rolling.

  • < all of the above.

but ive already been treated and surgery, but most docs dont know how to treat us correctly

  • all of the above

  • What about hyperthyroidism

  • I am 17 years of age and have suffered from an under active thyroid all my life, however unlike having half a thyroid i have not got one, meaning i really on my tablets i was based on 125 mg however being young i never remembered to take them cause sickness i then felt so bad when i started to remember them i increasing them 200mg and feel awful, sick, unwell and unable to concentrate, i have never felt this way before and just want to lye in bed all day.

  • @katiecakes28 if it doesn't get any better whilst taking your medication regulary ask your practitioner about adding T3 [liothyronine] to your regime. I needed to add this in order to feel well again. Hope you feel well soon x

  • This is great (BEYOND great) ,but what are you supposed to do when your doctor doesn't DO any of this? Typically it's ME going in and asking for certain tests. A few days later, a nurse or secretary will call my voice mail and leave a message saying, "Your test are fine." and that's the end of the story. NO follow up or other options from the doctor and no way to REACH the doctor except if I make another appointment. I've started asking for copies of my tests but I'm not medically trained.

  • This may sound stupid but is it possible to have an over and under active Thyroid? Like, it'll switch between the two at different times in your life.

  • One thing that I dont get is when people are talking about losing weight, they say all you need to do is eat right and excercise. I do not agree with this, I think the one of the first things you need to do is to check your thyroid incase that may be the reason you gain weight so easy or your tired all the time

  • Im turning 21 soon am not overweight as i dont eat probably a meal 3 times a week but am still big build ... Drink a lot of water and sweat all the time for nothing have just been told by the doctor that i need blood checking for hypothyroidism .. I often sit in bed for 3 days between work but now i sldont even wanna go there its ruining my life :(

  • very good video, i like this guy i wish i could see him about my thyroid issues.

  • Lol his last name is hyman

  • This shows up as a search for ne-yo so sick song lyrics, wow

  • what do you think of bioidentical hormones?

  • wow...your videos provide sooo great information=) they help me out a lot=) thank you if i'd live in the us i'd definetely go and see you=)

  • I just had my quartely ck up today and my Doc told me that my Thyroid was low according to blood test. I've been told by other docs that I was always borderline. I also struggled with weight my whole life, more so the past 20 years. I'm 45 and tired alot. Doc ask if I wanted to get my thyriod treated. I told him no cause I wanted to see if I could do it naturally. I'm already taking, lovistastin, lisinopril, clonazapam, and bruproprion. I did'nt want another pill. thoughts anyone

  • P.S. I have every single symptom you mentioned and have been this way for about 7 years. My visits to doctors have been fruitless despite swollen and dry feet, depression, hair loss - Thank you for giving me some hope!!!

  • I have had severe pain & burning in my head situated where you would place a hair band. I tried everything & nothing worked. Going to the hairdresser was so stressful because after shampooing my hair, that same area burned so bad I would cry.

I was told by a lady who owns a health food store to take iodine pills. Of course, I tried them & after the first day of taking only one pill per day, I have not had a single pain. I hope this will also help my hair loss in the same area. Thank you

  • The doc said I can take only half propranolol if feeling better, but I stopped it completely cos it made me feel worst last year and got very nervous with more palpitations. I have a node and have to do a gamagraph next week and a biopsy if the node is cold. I'm scared cos I got a 16 hour job teaching adults and half to start in the next 10 days and I'm not sure if I will feel well, I dont want to faint in class. I do need the job for the medication, etc. Do you think I will be OK. Thank you

  • Hi, I've been really ill feeling faint the last 2 weeks, palpitations, short of breath & sort of attacks with this mix. I am hyperthiroid now, not hypothriroid so stopped taking levothytroxine for now and taking prpranolol. T3 is 230 ng/dl (90-190 range), t4 15,1 ug/dl (4,5-12,5), free t4 is 2,5 ng/dl (4,5-12) TSH 0,17 uUl/ml (0,3 to 4,0). 5 days later : *TSH U.S. 0.05 uUI/mL (0.3-4.0) *TSH 30 generacion ultrasensitiva. FT4 1.80 ng/dL (0.8-2.0) TG-PLUS IRMA (tiroglobulin) 16.6 ng/mL (2.0-70.0)

  • I have had all of this AND more since i was 33 i am now going on 44 and the doctors only say it is anxiety and in my mind i feel like i am dying everyday but they say i am okay. I am tired of being sick all the time..so of course i now am depressed..i am told my thyroid is fine.

  • @tips4u33 yeah the tests are inconclusive.. use the temperature test instead,.. dont use allopathic medicine either this will make you worse.. take iodine, tyrosine, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, progesterone and wild yam vit c, seaweeds / kelp, vitamins and minerals, B vits etc.. all will help and very important to stop drinking tap water as this is mainly caused by fluoride in water.. but a distilling machine..!

  • My NP says I may have a Tyroid hormone conversion problem. My TSH and T3 are normal, but my T4 is always elevated, along with my Adrenal glands too. AND my pituitary gland results come back wonky all the time. The endo's i've seen don't have a clue or any answer. I've lost 25 pounds of muscle, my skin's very dry, it peels, i get rashes under my eyes, the color of my skin has changed, constipation, heart palputations, insomnia, hair loss ect ect. frustrating stuff!

  • @Donatello97

I am having similar symptoms, although not the peeling of my skin. And it is my TSH that is very low. But, does your muscles feel like it has lost some feeling? Hope everything returns to normal and you feel better!

  • @tmat04

I wouldn't exactly say it's peeling, it's just ver very dry, and if i wipe my fingers across my nose, forehead or under the eyes i get this yellowish dry skin all over my hands. Not only that but my skin is thinner now. I've noticed this because i can't get a clean shave no matter what around my upper lip. Sounds funny I know, but it's true and the pigmint color has changed from a healthy pink olive, to this pale brownish grey color. I've got some slight facial puffyness going on....

  • @tmat04

I'm dark and a bit sunken under the eyes, and i even get bad exema under the eye area, nose and forehead if i don't keep using cortisal. Anyways and yep! I've got total muscle weakness. I can't work out whatsoever, since my arms feel like noodles. But that doesn't matter, eating is 80% of it and it doesn't matter how much protein, calories or this and that i eat, my muscle has been shredded away and i can't gain any of it back, ahh the symptoms of over active glands. ;p

  • @Donatello97

I'm very sorry you're going through all of this! I will keep you in my prayers. I strongly believe you will get over that hump and feel better. Are you losing hair also? And what about fatigue and vision problems?

  • @tmat04

Well, I'm loosing a llttle bit of Eye brow hair here and there along with my eye lashes. I can easily tell by looking in the mirror that they arent as thick at all anymore and that there are a few spots of hair on my eye brows that are missing and some of it hasn't been growing back for months. And I've noticed there is hair missing in a few spots from my facial hair, and my head hair seems to falling out quite a bit whenever i wash my hair....

  • @tmat04

Hell this morning i was looking in the mirror and i tried to rub some dry sking off around my eye area and a couple of more eye lashes fell out. It's on going and never ending. This whole thing has been going on for over 4 years now. Hair loss can be permanent which pisses me off the most.

Oh and as for my vision....I know things are definitly a bit jittery here and there. But ya, how are you doing? What kind of symptoms are you going through and do you have a diagnosis? :)

  • @Donatello97

I think it's your thyroid! And if this is the case your hair loss will not be permanent. But the sooner you have it dealt with, the better.

I am also shedding a lot of hair on a daily basis. I can see a lot falling off when i comb my hair and when i shower. I feel very tired, even after getting sufficient sleep. I am always constipated and have lost weight. I even notice the difference by the way my socks, shoes and clothes fit. My vision sometimes get blurry and my eyes pain.

  • @tmat04

    Aghhh, that sucks! ;p

I can relate to alot of those symptoms for sure. So I'm guessing you've been passed around by endo's left and right? I've seen 5 already and they were all left scracthing their heads and seemed so simple minded about everything....I asked one of them if he could lower just my T4 Hormone since it's always elevated as shown in the blood work, and he basically said "I could, but why?"....And I'm thinking, "what do you mean why!? My t4's freakin elevated"

  • @Donatello97 I feel your pain. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, an atrial heart arrythmia, and having PARAthyroid "issues" levels abnormally high, and I just got diagnosed approx. 1 1/2 months ago with Hypothryoidism, was slightly elevate; on my SECOND Endocrinologist now, he put me on Levolthyroxin and I STILL feel like crapola, have ALL the symptoms, feel like "something is wrong" in my body and I am only 46 yrs old... UGH. This SUCKS!!!!

  • @DERedhead65

That sounds horrible, you've got 5 different problems going on? Yikes! :(

I've had this problem since I was 22, and I'm now 26.....I would of much rather had this problem in my 50's since I feel like I've missed out on a lot during these past 4 and 1/2 years in my youth. Anyways, have you seen a Naturo Path? I'm actually taking a natural medicine my Dr. Perscribed me called 'Thyrocalm PX' yet I haven't exactly noticed any results and I've been on it for 2 weeks now.

  • @DERedhead65

I feel like my Naturo path is my last resort, as the specialists have been passing me around and basically saying it just doesn't add up. They hardly even tried and stuck to the basics, basically the black and white area and basically ignoring the grey area. It's hard because there's nothing to work off of since there's no diagnoses, so days go by and symptoms remain the same. But it must be a lot harder for you considering you have all of those things going on. This sucks!!

  • I brought up thyroid binding globulin, and a couple of other things but they shrugged it, kind of like my NP but he went deep into it so it made sense. But I never knew anything about this so called Conversion proble, hopefully that's my answer. I get my results back tomorrow, so if they come back high he's going to treat me. Anyways, so what always comes back abnormal in your blood work? As far my thyroid goes, my T4 is always high and my T3 and Thyroid seem to always be in the normal range.

  • @Donatello97

My TSH (1) is very low, 0.24 to be exact. The normal range is 0.50-6.00. But then i did a second test which includes the whole Thyroid Profile. TSH shows normal at 0.86. This is somewhat confusing to me. Unless TSH and TSH (1) isn't the same. All the others also reflected normal. My MPV is 7.2, normal is 7.4-10.4. NEUT # is 8.1, normal is 2.1-6.8. NEUT % is 75.1, normal is 54.0-62.0. LYMPH % is 19.6, normal 20.0-40.0. I feel very tired (fatigue) all the time, and often in pain.

  • My TSH (1) blood test result is 0.24. But my other thyroid test reading is normal. I always feel very tied, even after awaking from good night or day sleep. I am always constipated. I notice my hair is falling off all the time. My voice feels like it's going. My muscles feel weak and painful sometimes. I lost some weight. CAN ANYONE, PERHAPS ONE WITH SIMILAR SYMPTOMS, TELL ME IF I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY THYROID? Thank You!

  • I'm a little bit pregnant! muwhahaha

  • Well, I have hypothyrioism too. Originally - 10 years ago - I had a TSH of 6,45. Now it is 11... Unfortunately pills (T4) doesn't help... I heard that it's possible to take T3 too.

I don't have antibodies in the blood and asking myself if I'm one of 20% of people having Hashimoto without antibodies... Or there might be a retrovirus in my thyroid. With pills my TSH is 0,9 - this should be ok...

  • how to cure this?

  • @AQUAMARINETMI Get book Hypothyroidism Type 2 by Mark Starr.

  • If I could I would so pack everything I have and move to the same town this guy lives in just so I could have him as my doctor.

  • I need help I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and the pills I was put on a few months ago are not helping me at all. I am 44 have nausea all the time, poor appetite, weight gain, low sex drive, all my skin is so dry and I can rub it off. my voice has always been a little deep or raspy but it's getting deeper. I don't sleep good, I sweat horribly day and night. i am on 50mcg and it's not working for me, Help plz

  • @laysea65

Check out stopthethyroidmadness website and the real thyroid help forum. Knowledge is your friend when it comes to the thyroid.

  • @laysea65 Get book Hypothyroidism Type 2 by Mark Starr.

  • doctors will not treat mild or subclinical illness fearing lawsuits in case your illness was another issue. They wail untill you are either very sick or have lab values and definetly out of range.

  • im gaining weight, even tho i've joined the gym. i cant lose weight. i have dry skin, low energy, hair is falling out. serious constipation, my hands and feet are ice cold, but have been cold all my life. im constantly tired and no matter how many hrs of sleep i had,im just tired in the morning. i have swelling in the feet. my voice is horsey like and i swear my eye shape are different, my facial expression looks weird. :( im scared and worried. do you think i have Hypothyriodism?

  • @QGprincess You definitely sound hypothyroid. I'd get tested for it. My eyes got puffy too, almost looked different from how they used to be. Make sure they check antithyroglobulin antibodies as well, testing for hashimoto's

  • Bromates, something I don't understand, nor do I understand what are Bromines, somehow this is in the wheat and causes low thyroid function, also wheat gluten seems to be guilty of binding up the wrong chemicals and loss of function occurs, bromines are talked about as occurring from sunlight, and they kill the sealife if they get out of hand. I'm not sure about all the poisons and chemical reactions to the thyroid. I think it's big business selling junk and poisoning the land every case.

  • This guy is great !!! I wish we had more ppl like that in this world

  • I've been diagnosed a year or two ago, but the pills haven't changed anything. The Dr. doesn't seem to see a problem w/ it. I need a new one. I really do.

  • I agree. I to am a doctor and have come across hypothyroidism, it is my specialised area of medicine infact. i have just completed my medical diploma and masters in BS at the BS University in Germany. My name is Dr. Jenital Varts MDMA in BS. Contact me and we should definatly have a detailed discussion about the BS of hypothyroidic and about the number of patients whom are prone to BS and hypothyroidism.

  • Is it possible to restore throid hormone levels without taking a thyroid hormone supplement - by doing the other things that you suggested for throid restoration?

I am not sure if the body can start producing its own thryoid hormone if it has dropped - doctors have told me it will never come back.

  • Hey Im only 23 yrs old, I have all the systems you"ve mentioned, I have looked this up before because it was just something I thought I might have. I have to make myself get up and motivated and the weight is uncontrollable, I have to workout for 45 minutes everyday to feel results not even noticable results. Im so scared im too young i've stuggled with low motabolism my whole life its controlling everything. I just had another baby 2months ago I no longer have medicade what can i do?

  • @MrsMaeBaby86 wow you sound a lot like me! I'm 23 as well and I have severe allergies, recurring MRSA infections, and almost all the symptoms of Hypothyroidism. I'm going to get a blood test for it, hopefully it will show something because I'm tired of feeling like this since I was 14-15.

  • @MrsMaeBaby86 oh and another weird thing. I've always been low weight. Even now I'm only 108 but it's as much as I've ever weighed and my muscles feel soft and squishy, like they are full of water. I've been bike riding for a month now with no difference at all.

  • I wish you would also talk about hyperthyroidism.

  • If an hypothyroid person does never get treatment, will it get worst or not? because there are milions of people who don't know they have it, and they won't die! am I right? I dont want to go on any treatment and want to carry on with my life.

  • @scouseland1 I've heard the hormones can even make it worst if the doctor does not find the right dose, and I wouldnt like that and to depend on pills for life. :s

  • totally been going through a lot of these symptoms

i have been dealing with this for a long time

i have no health care i go the free clinic and have been going through a lot of tests i need to really get informed and be positive

    thanks for this video

  • Small node on the thyroid can do it also.

Can be found with an x-ray using radium.

Might not be found using MRI.

  • Dr. Hyman, we need more doctors like you in the world. I aim to be one of those doctors.

  • how do find a good doctor and not some moron who thinks he knows it all like mine

  • I'm 28 and I have almost all the thyroid problem you mentioned, but when I did a blood test my Doctor told maximum thyroid level is 5.7 and your is 5.8 but when I look online it says maximum level of thyroid level is 5. anyways my whole body is gone nuts, weight gain, hair lost 7 etc.. etc.. that you mentioned.

  • about how long can a person live without t3 med or any kind of meds after removal of the thyroid?

  • Dam this is what i got hyprothyroidisim...i have a vid about it.

  • maybe everything and every one

  • Is this guy really a doctor? He clearly does not know what he is talking about! There simply are not enough characters allowed here to go through each fallacy. But for starters - there is no such thing as something called functional medicine.

  • does smoking incease problems with your thyroid?

  • Yes, positively.

  • @KINGABYSS111 yes it does!

  • I gained weight before i was diagnosed, but then again i ate junk all the time and wasn't really excercising. But since i got on the pills, i'm full of energy just like i used to be before my teens,i really have to eat like a pig otherwise i get underweight .

  • @bk1108clara what pills are you taking?

  • @bk1108clara what meds do you have?!

  • How is he a clown? Read his book, it is not just treating thyroid.

Dr. Hyman is right on the money, do some more research.

Thats a good arguement looks weird.

  • Dr. Mark Hyman is not a clown! As far as im concerned he is an amazing person who is speaking the truth about nutrition and health! Thanks for sharing your wealth of information Mr. Hyman! :)

  • This guy is one of these clowns who really isn't qualified to be discussing thyroid disease - let alone treating it.

    He even looks weird.

  • He's a salesman trying to sell his books... what do you expect? A 40 day money back guarantee?

  • I have many of these symptomps but am quite thin, is weight gain a must in Hypo?

  • hypo (overwieght) and hyper (underweight)... 2 types.

  • I'm hypo and barely weigh 100 lbs so it's not always the case.

  • Do you have your thyroid removed?

  • I have my thyroid. I don't think they have found any reason to remove it unless I form nodules or have cancer and they don't suspect that.

  • No I have hypo and weight about 100 pounds. You CAN be thin and have hypo. I researched it.

  • Well, most of my symptoms would be Hypo (I did the basal temp test for two weeks, low adrenals for sure) and I weight 132.

    Thanks!

  • Omg i have every 1 of them symptoms and im only 23!! i was diagnosed with under active thyroid durin pregnancy 3years ago. do u think i need my 100mg tablets 2 be stonger ?? plez help!! x

  • that was very very useful thanks!

  • Maybe, Maybe, Maybe shit you may not a Dr.

  • i feel for this, i am exactly like this :(
