  • Interesting...

  • 1:35 for Cthulhu

  • so why do the title always have cthulu in it when ever it is "The Shadow Over Insmouth"?

  • The singing in the beginning is the same as the one in "Sonne" by Rammstein.

  • This isn't accurate at all. Lovecraft was a man of his age; he was notoriously racist and vehemenently anti-gay - like most everyone in his Century. How did this production even happen?

  • WHERE TH FUCK IS CTHUHLU!!?

  • Very Lovecraftian but it really doesn't warrent the title Cthulhu seeing as it seemingly isn't about him at all...

  • what the music play on beginning ???

  • THEY CAME OUT OF THE SEA AND KILLED LOTS OF PEOPLE

  • they need to make a reanimator movie

  • Sooo it is about cthulu. No?

  • nice.

  • Hello Cole

  • This is more like "The Shadow over Innsmouth" more than anything else.

  • I think if you don't like horror movies and you don't like the Cthulhu mythos but you do like gay drama then this might be the movie for you. And i hope you enjoy :-)

But I thought it sucked. The only way i can imagine it could win a award. In a H P Lovecraft film festival was if it was the only movie that year.... or well maybe threats of violence or bribes

  • "It's beginning to look a lot like Fish-men, everywhere I go!"

  • sooo did they show the monster thing? Sorry im not well read about the Cthulhu. Isnt it like a big monster/god? Did they show it in the moive?

  • @neal4utt nope, but that's not bad.. No good lovecraft movie would show cthulhu, because it would destroy the illusion. In the books, if you saw him, you would go completely insane.. A cheap computer-animated Creature would destroy everything a real lovecraft fan cares for ;)

P.S.: even though it didn't show cthulhu, it was really, really bad.. but i have to say, there are no good ones out there anyway

  • @neal4utt They don't show THE Cthulu, to do so would drive you insane, but they do show the denizens of R'yleh, the city Cthulu rules.

  • This seems more 'Dagon and the fish people' than 'Cthulhu'

  • Where is Cthulhu ?...

  • @Grees114 in R’lyeh :P

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • whers cthulhu? D: MISLEADING FUCKING TITLE!

  • @holidayswithjason its more or less a redo of shadow over innsmouth

  • @holidayswithjason As far as I can remember Cthulhu never actually appears in any of lovecraft's novels.. he's just mentioned alot.

  • @S0ryiu

well never rlly read one of hiz novels...

just kinda saw south poark and now i wanna see this movie

  • @holidayswithjason It's more short stories than anything, actually. Lovecraft didn't write many full-length novels.

  • @thdedg45 I totally agree with you, but the sexuality does nothing to enhance the story. This is a Lovecraft adaptation, remember. Lovecraft himself expressed little interest in sex, and the sexuality of his protagonists is rarely mentioned in his stories, nor does it advance the plot.

  • this is a fucking faggets movie not a cthullu movie,i read a lot of lovecraft books and theres no faggets in the tales , so why they do that?

  • this is a fucking faggets movie not a cthullu movie,i read a lot of lovecraft books and theres no faggets in the tales , so why they do that?

  • They call this Cthulhu because its a more well known Lovecraftian name, but this is more of an adaption of "The Shadow over Innsmouth", except the book didnt have any gay sex scenarios

  • Where's Cthulhu?

  • this piece of shit has nothing to do with the call of cthulu, and the faggets? why they do this to lovecraft? i really hate this movie

  • @jokereaam You're an idiotic bigot.

  • I was hoping to see southpark:(

  • Oh no its a faggot movie

  • Hm it DOES seem more like shadow over innsmouth...but I dunno I suppose it could be good.

  • is Cthulhu himself even in this movie?

  • LOTSA PEOPLES

  • What is the song played in beginning ?

  • e or a shadow on a wall. Never show him. It's a well known fact that the slightest glimpse of him would make any man lose their mind. And plus it's just scarier that way.

    Thank you for your time.

  • How hard is it to make an adaptation of "The Call of Cthulhu"? Or anything related to H.P Lovecraft? Seriously. Filmmakers make it seem like it's as difficult to put to film as "The Naked Lunch" or "Dune". It shouldn't be that difficult. But I know if anyone did try to tackle it, they'd try and show him in all of his slimey, scaley glory. That would ruin the movie. No matter how good the rest of it is. If anyone ever does have Cthulhu in a movie, it should just be a fleeting glimpse of a tentacl

  • they came outta the sea, AND KILLED LOTSA PEOPLE!!!!?!?!!!!!)^&!@)&@*(@^

....sounds about as smart as any plot from today's movie generation

  • I'm really looking forward to Del Toro's "Mountains of Madness", which he says will be an R-rated film aimed at adults. Sounds awesome. Check out "The Devil's Backbone" to see his scary ghost movie.

Generally Lovecraft movies have sucked. "Dagon" was an OK monster movie, but cheesy and shallow. This "Cthulhu" film had more dramatic depth, but obviously low budget and the gay sub plot was sort of random.

  • This piece of shit pisses me off too much. If you want to make a ridiculous movie about anal sex to promote your gay agenda that's fine, but don't steal Lovecraft's creation and ruin its name by associating both.

  • @Crossbowman I hope you are joking. Why are straight people so paranoid about gay characters in movies? Do you realy think that seeing gay people is going to turn all the straight people gay? You would have to be very confused about your own oriantation to feel threatend every time you see a gay character in a movie/t.v. show. I am sorry I got so far off topic but I get pissed off when I hear about the gay agenda, I have not seen the movie so I can't comment on its quality.

  • @scifiviewer83 I'm not paranoid about there being a gay character. I'm paranoid about a perfectly good story being twisted and ruined to fit the director's/writer's/foo's sexual choices.

  • @Crossbowman I agree that the original story was ruined to make this movie, I just don't see how it is promoting the "gay agenda"to have a gay character in the movie.

  • @scifiviewer83 It's not just a gay character. If it was only that, I wouldn't mind much. But much of the plot was changed to call attention to the fact that he is gay.

The movie doesn't feel at all like a Lovecraft movie with a gay character, it feels like a gay movie with a few elements ripped off from Lovecraft.

  • @Crossbowman I know this movie has very little to do with the original story, I agree that it is a poor adaption of a classic horror story.

  • @scifiviewer83

beacuse in the books of lovecraft there is no fucking gays

  • what the fuck has this to do with Cthulhu ? this sucks

  • @Subit5xk oh i don`t know, cthulhu just so happens to have monsters at his will, old ones,if you will, and he creates them by maddening a man then morphing him into some demented monster.he repeats this until he has an evil army.and so,if cthulhu, who, standing in water 700 miles deep,it only comes up to his waist, appeared, basically we would feel that.oh no you wouldnt feel a monster of 1000 feet tall come out of the bottom of the sea from another dimension.not at all.if someone saw him theyd go mad.

  • H.P. Lovecraft maovies suck gaint balls. The books are okay though.

  • @11chingchangchong okay ? they are awesome !

  • @romas1995 That's your opinion. I really think they are gay.

  • esto debe ser un rollazo de lo mas chabacanero que se pueda imaginar uno...

  • is even cthulhu in it?

  • Why COLE'S VOICE WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!??!?!?!?!? They shoulda just stuck to the 'ocean zombies' and skip the gay part. Makes me sad...

  • Stupid idiots whining about some gay scenes... Grow up you fucktards this movie actually looks pretty good and decent Lovecraft movies are hard to find.

  • homo eroticism makes it edgy, Those "ocean zombies" are deep ones and "cult families"... have u ever read a lovecraft story?

  • To everyone bashing this movie, I have this to say. If Cthulhu is a great unfathomable cosmic entity, isn't it a greater service to him NOT to attempt to depict him bodily, only to show his effect on his unwitting victims? Furthermore, this movie is all about the time leading up to Cthulhu's return

  • blahahahahahahahahahahah

  • ...what's this world coming to? First they ruin cowboys, now they ruin the Mythos?

  • @MreowrProductions blahahahahahahahahahah

  • @MreowrProductions Homophobia ruins everything.

  • @siralucard19 What?

  • Comment removed

  • @siralucard19 Still confused.

  • @QueenAnime99 To be honest, though, homosexuality has no place in any Lovecraft adaptation, ever. I'm not a homophobe, but Lovecraft definitely was and was outspoken about it. I love the man's fiction, but he wasn't a particularly swell guy at all.

  • @gorboy I see what you are saying. Good day.

  • @QueenAnime99 Changing Lovecraft's story into a piece of softcore homo-erotica makes about as much sense as that Uwe Boll wanna be director who tried doing several adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's stories 'The Fall Of The House Of Usher' & 'The Pit And The Pendulum' and threw homosexual themes into it.

It doesn't improve the original story and it makes for a halfassed film.

  • @cha5 Someone already explained this to me, but thank you for your mature and rational response. I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with the choices the movie made, but I take issue with some of the homophobic comments that have been made on this page. Please see my response to MreowrProductions to better understand where I was coming from. Good day.

  • @QueenAnime99 Tori Spelling ruins everything..

  • @AvarwaenHorne If you think so. :D

  • @QueenAnime99 Just like movie industry forcing homosexual motives to make movies look more "artistic" and "deep"... and their not, just another BS to acquire more positive medial attention

  • @YuriPRIME I was talking about some of the seemingly homophobic comments on this page. I'm not entirely sure what you're saying since I don't know how it's possible to tell when a movie is using gay characters/relationships/themes to make it look "deep" and "artistic." However, I am a firm believer that moviemakers should try to make the best movie they can make. Good day.

  • @MreowrProductions Just as using Cthulhu as the title is totally out of place, your comment also is.

  • id actually like to see a movie about the whole cthulhu story etc and with the bloob

  • def not watching this movie, horrible work on the scriptwriter's behalf. H.P. Lovecrafts books were about supernatural events not gay relationships. in fact the main characters never had any real relationships in his novels.

  • @TriscuitHatesJoutube yeah really, wtf is this shit !?

  • @TriscuitHatesJoutube Yup, I agree with more top comment. Homophobia really ruins your great movie experiment :3

  • @TriscuitHatesJoutube So, I'm seeing you were focused on the relationship of the main character. But you know, thats just ONE aspect of the whole movie...

  • this movie is shit!

  • The movie is good, but he gay part just ruins it all

  • @cocainecripin Why do the gay parts ruin it?

  • @QueenAnime99 The movie is too busy showing gay shit instead of the actual movie.

    Faggots ruin everything.

  • @cocainecripin upset because it was not a pussy fest.. stupid hetero-breeder-overpopulating-freak... There I got a name for the breeders of this earth!

  • In fact, the movie is based upon H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth", the god-monster's name is Dagon. I'd imagine they just named the movie Cthulhu for name recognition.

  • @jeffburdges name recognition blahahahahahahahahahah ... I hate fucking yuppies.

  • There should be a movie for the game InFamous. And the one to play Cole is Jason Cottle because in this movie, with that buzzed haircut, he looks almost exactly like Cole.ANYBODY AGREE???

  • And... Where's Cthulhu? ._.

  • I think it isnt possible to make a decent HP LOVECRAFT Movie. My last hope is GIULERMO DEL TORO but who knows whats going on in MOVIEMAKINGLAND. I sill have hope. ;o)

  • darren aronofsky could do it :P

  • omfg.... this is ... awfull looking... why on earth did people... just god...

  • its more shadow over insmouth than cthulhu, in general it wasn't a horrible movie. either that or I was really tired while watching it.

  • where can i download this movie?

    please someone answer D:

  • They could have followed the tales a bit better, this looks effing terrible, acting and all

  • Why isn't this in the 20s?

Cool idea for a movie, but a terrible follow-through.

  • looks like dont have relation with the original tale

  • u mad?

  • a little bit - there is just no reason for it except to be nappy

  • I love HPL but I Sadly watched this movie and I have to tell ITS HORRIBLE, stupid and boried! An insult to HPL. DO NOT WATCH THIS SHIT, Please!!

  • Well.... It looks bad. I don't mind the guy on guy tho ;)

  • Looks pretty pathetic. I'll take Eternal Darkness.

  • I think Tori would have been good as Yog-Sothoth, and she wouldn't have to have worn a lot of makeup either!..otherwise, worst acting ever, and really an insult.....And oh yeah, the gay sex??? yeah, that makes sense!!..

  • Tori Spelling? lolz

  • This looks terrible.

  • does this movie even have cthulhu

  • ok people if the guy wasn't gay he wouldn't have left. therefore there would be no movie lol. notice how mike never came out and stayed there?

  • This is actually more like H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth"

And why the hell did they add gay sex!?!?

    Most stupid move ever.

  • Comment removed

  • @Atreides22222 Isn't that one of the things gay people do? If you think about it...it actually makes sense.

  • @Atreides22222 I'm sure you wouldn't be complaining about straight sex....

  • @Atreides22222 I was actualy thinking that and "The Alchemist." And...uh...to make it cool with the indie movie kids...?

  • @Atreides22222 It is based on "The Shadow over Innsmouth", according to the film maker, but they didn't use that as the title.

The gay sub plot is weird. Lovecraft himself was famously homophobic (and totally racist), but also believed to be a closeted homosexual by many of his friends. I suppose you could weave some psycho-sexual theory about where his vision of horror came from, but I don't think this film was trying to do that.

  • @Atreides22222 Him being gay my fit the story better, they are mad at him not having kids to pass it all onto. Yes, I think you are Homophobic. I will not blame you if the fear of seeing Men love each other is to much for you. Often we fear what we are selves my be, only in fully understanding yourself will you be able to drop the fears you have with in yourself. see some gay porn, and you will know for sure if you are strait or gay. Moreover, stop fearing our beloved Gay brothers and sisters.

  • Creepy pasta is creepy :(

  • im not against gay stuff

but the gay stuff in this movie was kinda pointless

  • well actually it wasnt cause that's why the professor didnt wanted to go with women and have a child and that was cause so he could resist his fate as to coninue the lagcy and his father go in the sea...so..pointless would be this guy dont want to fuck with anybody...

  • IMHO it would work better for the people of Innsmouth to have the degeneracy of The Deep Ones showing through i.e. 'The Innsmouth look' and mating with one of their "women" would be compatable with mating with something subhuman which no sane person straight or gay would want any part of.

  • but we're talking about cthulhu mythos not your mythos...these are men who make deals with those who lives in the depths...but not have sex with them...

  • Yes well this film doesn't really follow Lovecraft's original Cthulhu Mythos Lovecraft's story 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' inbreeding doesn't go unmentioned however,

"When it came to matin' with them toad-lookin' fishes, the Kanakys kind o' balked, but finally they larnt something as put a new face on the matter."

One can rationalize anything I suppose.

  • Oh come on, are you trying to say that Tori Spelling doesn't have the "Innsmouth Look" ?

  • LOL!

Well I can't argue with you there.

  • The girl is a serious SAN check. :D

  • Is shit movie, you cant make a film of any Lovecraft story, Howards work is psycological and thus is not suitable for big screen...only and unless in was the most scariest movie ever, rated 21 and was exactly doneto the stories, fukkin idiots.

  • chutulu is actually one big monster

  • Jason Cottle - Cole from inFAMOUS oh YEA!

  • soooo coooool

  • Yeah....this looks more like Shadow over Innsmouth. Name fail.

  • Meh.

  • I really enjoyed this movie. It was seriously one of the best little independent movies I have ever seen. The whole scene with the camera flash was fucking brilliant.

  • This is more like a retarded version of "Shadow Over Innsmouth" than Call Of Cthulhu.

This is going to be arse.

  • Its like shadow over insmouth rite?

  • And wait...so gay people are lizard monsters?

    That's not awfully PC O_o

  • even if this movie is about the cult, i would like to see one about cthulhu the actual beast. he's so cute hehe

  • Well then you might want to rent the DVD 'The Call Of Cthulhu' which was made by The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society in 2005, IMHO you won't find a better Lovecraft film taken right from a Lovecraft story, the trailer for this 2008 film reminds me too much of those straight to video Poe movies with a gay subtext that what's his name (DeCouteau?) keeps churning out every year.

  • that damn oregon coast..

  • the deep ones are related to cthulu but he isnt an actual character in the film

  • i played a mission about the deep ones in oblivion /??????????

  • what I want to see is cthulhu vs nazis vs Chuck Norris

what an epic clusterfuck that would be!

  • hahahaha i love random meshes like that good choice of names.hehehe

  • scribblenauts

  • hahah yea cthulu vs god XD

  • Shouldn't this be more properly called "Shadow over Innsmouth"? It seems more or less like the short story than anything else.

  • Omfg you are all so fucking dumb... cthulhu isnt ONLY about the big fucking great cthulhu BUT the universe related to him: the innermost fear of humankind, the creatures, the dreams, the CULTS, the FOLLOWERS of the CULTS of cthulhu, dagon etc. You are all very stupid if you are waiting to see the almighty cthulhu on a movie, a monster that could barely be described nor be seen or you would simply go insane, that cant "go trought" a tv screen, the feeling of getting isane.

  • very well put. haha these people dnt even know the stroy behind cthulhu they just know he himself. i would be more disapointed to see him in the movie because i dnt want to se someone elt's depiction of him i want to keep my own image of him, thats what makes him scary

  • exactly, when i read call of cthulu/shadow over innsmouth the way it described him was fuckin horrid and everyone sees things in a different perspective.. so we should just leave it at that...

  • I don't mind the homosexuality, but where is the moster? I might have consider watching this movie, had there been a lot less Tori Spelling and a lot more Cthulhu in the trailer.

  • What does homo-erotic cult-family ocean-zombies have to do with Cthulhu?

  • Speaking of Cthulhu. Is it in this movie?

  • No, it's just a name grab for Lovecraft fans. Rather than thinking of this movie as an adaptation of "Shadow Over Innsmouth" you're better thinking of it as a movie that draws on the Cthulhu Mythos.

  • @darksungames Nothing, maybe the director was smoking some drugs during the creation of this sort of "(bad) remake"

  • @darksungames Cthulhu has become a gay symbol in the 20th century

  • Marsh?

    As in Obed Marsh?

Hmm... That's Shadow over Innsmouth..We saw that in the movie 'Dagon'......it sounds like this is going to be more about Dagon's ilk than Cthulhu's...

  • I don't see how any of this ties into Cthulu. If those things from the ocean were fish men then maybe it would make sense but ultimatly I saw nothing even close to the story line of Cthulu who is an unimaginably large creature with tentacles on his face and will make you insane if you were to ever see him, So what is this movie really about?

  • ... he didn't have any sexual references.. or characters at all... I don't see anything related with.. cthulhu...except maybe that manhole.... this is just crap...

  • ummm isnt Cthulhu itself a huge monster?

  • yeah a big octopus kraken thing

  • more gay imposible.

  • Honestly, this doesn't even seem to have anything to do with Cthulhi.

  • wait isnt cthulu a gaint octopus thing

  • This movie is terrible, bad camera work, bad acting, bad lighting, bad plot line nothing like anything HP Lovecraft would have written. No real ending, no action scenes, and It takes every opportunity to show off soft gay porn.

  • At least it has the porn right?
