  • Yep, but you only have one loop at a time, so it's very limited. Maybe the Mini-KP2 can do better, but I'm not sure that this entry-level product will do the same as the more expensive models.

  • one question does it loop? lets say u beatbox will you be able to loop it?

  • Did you record this with a tin can and a piece of string or...?

  • You just went from ashy to classy, bro.

  • Someone tell me how to hook this up into my pedal board? PLease!

  • Sooo, you may know... does this have auto bpm like the korg site says, or do you always have to use tap tempo?

  • and it gives us sight.

  • @tacomonday1 and we see the light, an it burned so bright, now we know were right

  • what is the maximum length of the samples?

  • hi.. may i ask you, how many samples can it record/play back at once?

  • whered you get this beat from? is it a drum machine? if so, which one?

  • @drecos1

It's the drum intro of "god given" by Nine Inch Nails.

  • @Deweak I love it when I recognize a sample as soon as I hear it! Nice choice.

  • @Deweak Hey, if you still have this thing, can you get me some rough measurements for me? length x width x height please. Im trying to see if I can squeeze this into a guitar :p

  • @JgHaverty It's not bigger than you're hand, that's for sure.

  • weak

  • i love #81 tbh good vid (Y)

  • you got some ashy hands.

  • Black man, dry skin ! Thanks for your comment, you make my day :-)

  • how do you connect it to computer?

  • There is no usb connection. It only works in the audio domain.

  • oh ok

  • @ Punkfunc

but you can connect it between your pC and your sound system... from 3,5mm -clinch.(miniKP).clinch-3,5mm or 6,3 =)

    that´s no problem

  • @punkfunc

You would need to pass the output signals into a MIDI (digital) converter with a USB output. Then you could run into any digital production software.

  • it's all about effects dude.

The kaossilator is used for making beats, but this is used for effects and shit.

  • nice vid. um sorry if this is a stupin question but what leads do u use with the mini kp?

  • Rca/phono cables...if you dont know what they are, if you a techy person you will proably have some...google them.

  • hey Deweak,

Can you do the effect with the mini, like the one in the Intro of: Radiohead_Everything in its right place??

The voice effect was done with the first kaosspad

I"m not being able to post the link of the song, but you can find/hear it anywhere

  • GOD GIVEN!!!!!!!

  • Mini-KP is only an effects processor with preset programs. No editing allowed, apart from the global tempo.

  • Can this do effects aswell as edit / process / mess with other sounds? :)

  • holly shit

  • GOD GIVEN!

  • i thought this was nine inch nails haha

  • shoulda bought the kp3. way better then this

  • Can this be connected to the new numark NS7?

  • hey im like not even into this stuff but this looks like an interesting piece of tech i heard it goes for 250 a pop and is battery powered

  • how would you link one of these up in a guitar effects system??? without having ine built in your guitar

  • how do you properly connect it if you have a stereo and a dj mixer. i mean i know that the "In" pair of wires from korg goes to the dj mixer, but what about the "Out" pair, do they also get connected to the mixer??

  • plug it in to the line connection so you can switch from line to phono, or plug it in as a mic so you can have all 3 going at once

  • thank u so much!

  • God Given....NIN....

  • how much loop time does it have?

  • Figure it about before you make a video please. None of these have done the kp-mini justice.

  • how do you hook up a korg mini kp into a behringer vmx 300 mixer???????

  • mixer - mini kp - amp

  • i done that u plug an rca on effects out on the vmx 300 and then plug it to the input of the mini pad the on the mini pad out connect to mixer effects in hope this helped u out m8

  • God Given!

  • Nails Nine Inch multitrack file - great!

  • Soo, what do you think..wait and buy KP3 or buy the Mini-kp?

  • Buy mini-kp, i you don't like it, be happy you didn't buy kp3. If you like it, buy kaossilator or kp3.

You can use them together... So it doesn't matter if you have mini kp before kp3.

  • Are the mini-kp and the Kp3 equal on the Fx-front?

But it would be nice to have midi actually..well well..we will see..

  • I don't really know about that :D

    Other Decision is Yamaha Tenori-on..

  • Yeah if you have that money to spend. xD

and if i had that much i would get a Analogue Solutions Concussor module set

  • Very good example of what this does, thanks

  • dat is whack

  • i think that matthew bellamy (from muse) haves one of this on his guitar, just look in a supermassive black hole video and you'll see it

  • aye he gets them built in to his guitars now

  • he has the Kaoss pad 3 built in

  • no, he has the KP2 built in.

  • GOD GIVENNNNNN

  • Hey, I'm purchasing one next week, and I'm just a beginner. I want something simple that I can make beats on by itself. No attachements. Is this the one for me?

  • of course it's for you! haha! this is designed for monkeys to use..it's not pro stuff.

  • you cant make beats on it

    its an effects processor

  • whats the difference between this red one and the yellow one??

  • The yellow one makes music and the red one modifies music. They make a great duo.

  • Yes, of course ! You'll have great effects for your synth.

  • hi deweak

i´m gettin one mini kp next week

my question is, can i connect it with my micro x and modify the sounds???

  • Yep, I used it as an effect processor for a keyboard. Nice to have realtime control.

  • anybody ever hook this up to a guitar? or keyboard?

  • what's the difference between this and the korg kaossilator?

  • The kaossilator is a synth, so you can make loops with it yourself. The kaoss pad allows you to add strange effects to other music.

  • that drum samples from a nine inch nails song!! its of Year Zero

  • yep, it's "god given", as I said one year ago ;)

  • Is that "god given"?

  • _continued_

Kaossalaor - The one i decided apon, its FX synth, instrements( realistic piano, trumpet, etc , dose, beats, its near perfect! £90 its a bargan and there even cheaper on ebay, ofcorse if you do decide to get a betterone later on, then it is a perfect partner with the kp3

hope this was usfulto everyone :)

  • LOL

  • is there anyway to prevent the pad clipping at higher input levels?

can the full KP3 have a higher input level without clipping?

(clipping - the red light showing on the input light)

  • yo...got mysel a mini pad yesterday, but am stuck connecting it to my mixer!? dunno wat to do?! help please

  • Hi. If you want to use it like an external signal processor, you have to set the mini-kp to "snd" (send) and to feed it with an aux line from your mixer. For this I use an Y jack adapter with (one mono jack -> two mono jacks) in order to use the mini-kp's two inputs.

  • ok guys i have a problem i want 2 get a pad but i am not sure which 1 and i am a bit tite on cash but i jus got a job `^^

KP-MINI kaossalaor or kp3(if i get tha money

  • Well the mini kp is designed to be a more portable versoin of the larger ones, and cant do as much. The kp3 is much better, and you can use it for sampling, whereas the mini kp cant sample at all. Both of the kp's are for effects mainly, whearas the kaossilator is a synthesiser and creates sounds using the touchpad, rather than just putting effects on stuff. It depends what you want it for.

  • thanks for the answer.

  • Depends what you want to do, very difrnt i found out while asking the same Q as you,

kp-mini - Small, cheap (£100) all effects ( youll need some beats/song/background for it to work.

kp3 - Big, needs to be plugged in to use and (£230 !!! but its perfect for crating your own d+b/FX/synth overlay! and a nice touchpad (its shiny and lites up!) and its proffesonal stuff, enter shikari use it,

  • Would you choose the mini over the Kaoss Pad 2 ?

  • proboly, i dont think you can get the kp2 new actully, but im sure its on ebay and stuff

  • @maxhendrixboxer rou reynolds uses the KP2

  • Snaxlax... I have both a Korg Kaossilator & a Korg mini-KP, & I have my KP goin into my Kaossilator & out 2 my keyboard amp. The effects on the KP R pretty wild and pretty amazing & when I use it with the Kaossilator, its like I almost died & went to heaven. I've been makin pretty good beats with it. I'm wonderin myself if maybe either machines can be hooked up to a puter. they probably can, just as long as it has enough RCA cables 2 plug them into, & u have sound comin through. I hope I helped.

  • Oooh! God Given! Delicious.

  • Nine inch nails - God Given

    Album : Year zero

  • Is this sample coming from an external source?

  • you can loop drum beats off the mini kp?

  • YOU'RE LYING!

  • can anyone please say whats the diffrnce between this and a kaossilator??please.

  • there are diffrence by the discription and function of the buttons. the mini have button memory A and memory B, the kaoss. means scale and loop/rec.play!the mini only have also an LINE IN to modulate incomming sounds.

  • Which one is better according to you?

  • well micro is more effects, so if you wanted to warp and edit stuff you get the micro, if you want to make music you get the kaossillator, if you're a rich bastard get both

combine and make crazy good stuff

  • thx dude!:D

  • get the kaoss pad 3. i want it but its 400$ :(

  • get the kaoss pad 3. i want it but its 400$ :(

  • How would you beable to record your mix with this ? Run the out audio jack into a audio interface or ????? Help ..

  • i have a question can you use the korg with a BCD3000 mixer

  • GOD GIVEN!!! love that song...good choice

  • I want to add some effects to my microKORG how would i do it just put a cble in my microKORGS audio out and thn into mini KP in?

    Thanks

  • yeah i gotta microkorg too and i was wondering this. I think u could run the microkorg out to the mini-KP and the out to a speaker, but is there any way u could hook both of them up to a computer?

  • can this be hooked up to a pc somehow?

  • There is no other connexion than the audio inputs and outputs. No MIDI, no USB.

  • aww man.

i really don't feel like spending $500 for the KP3. thanks man.

  • what about the KP2?

  • well it's still around the same price. i'm just trying to save a couple of bucks.

  • no i meant if the KP2 can be hooked to a computer to use with Reason, Ableton etc.

  • yeahh the KP2 and the KP3 can.

you just run it via MIDI.

  • God Given! And It gives us sight, and we see the light, and it burns so bright, now we know we're right!!

  • nice, I was just wondering if the sort of glitch effect that you're getting on the drum sample can be done real-time with the mini-kp also? as in, not to a sampled piece, but if you play a note of something, can it be glitched as so, then keep playing when you take your finger off? thanks, peace!

  • Looks kewl. Will be paying the extra money for the bigger and better thou. I think at the end of the day the bpm detection, memory and other stuff makes a few hundred bucks worth it.

  • Hey deweak! I'd like to know:

How many seconds can this thing sample?

    AND

Can it store more than one sample?

I've been searching for this info EVERYWHERE but i can't find it not even in the manual that's online, and Korg doesn't answer my e-mails so if you could give me a response it'll be much appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • I don't know exactly the KP's sampling capacity. I was able to loop one measure at 80BPM. You can't store any sample : if you remove your finger or deactivate the hold function, the memory is emptied.

  • Hey, awesome!

sounds like "god given" by NIN

  • Maybe because that is God Given ! lol

  • OH..

    lol

  • Do you needa third channel on your mixer for this to work"?

  • SAFE

    thats nang

im gona get a kaos poad but iv never used 1 b4 du know if i cud link it with mi synth and use it with that?

    cb

    x

  • Yes, of course. You can plug your synth in the KP, then the KP in your power amplifier or mixer, and have the effets applied on your synths sounds only when you press the pad.

  • How do you like the mini? Ive been wanting to get the KP3 but since the mini is cheaper I was considering that instead. any suggestions?

  • pretty sweet dude

  • hey, can this used as a sampler or looper?

i´m considering to put this on my turntable ( just got one) to have a loop running while switching records..

  • In this example, I loop one measure from a mp3. You can do the same with your turntable, but the mini kp's memory is limited to one measure (4 beats). You can't have a whole chorus repeated for instance.

  • I don't use it like that : mine is fed by the aux bus of a line mixer so that I can process any of my keyboards or other sources (the routing is a bit complex).

  • sweet :D.

    thanks dude.

i orderd it last week, should arive today or tomrow.

would be awsome if you put up some more vids of you using this so i have somthing to work off.

+ to put a comp through it, do you just plug the jack off the imput into your headphone out?

    Xx

  • Another idea would be to inject the lead vocal straight into the mini-kp in direct mode : when the pad isn't pressed, you hear the dry sound (the vocal) and when you touch it, you add the effect. For instance, it's great to add a "telephone" or delay effect on only few words, kind of help for the sound engineer :-)

  • im thinking of buying one of these for use on stage with my band on stage. we have synth and drum intros and outros which i play on my laptop, and our singer has a korg electribe es1. will this be usefull for making our intros and outros sound just that little bit cooler, and can our singer use this kaoss pad with his sampler?

    cheers.

    Xx

  • For the intros / outros, the mini-kp would make the playbacks a little more "live". I think it's good for humanizing static sequences :-)

If your singer plugs the kaoss right after his sampler, he will be able to add some cool live effects to it.

  • great video! and i was wondering if you would truly recommend this product or would you by the kaoss pad 2?? could you make some more videos so we can see what the mini kaoss pad can do please!! thanks a lot!! good luck!!

  • I recommend this product if you don't use lots of diiferent effects in a live situation. In studio, you have similar effects in the mini-kp and the KP2/3, but the mini-kp doesn't have any MIDI connections or many setup memories (only 2). So on my mind mini-kp is sort of an effects add-on to a setup, whereas big Kaoss Pads can be considered as instruments on their own.

  • hey its god given.

  • yep. I'm a NIN fan, too :-)

  • ummm..How long can the loop be?

  • One mesure lenght, but I'm not sure that memory will be big enough for slow tempos / long samples : I tried at 90bpm and the whole mesure was sampled.

  • Ok. Thanks for info.

  • mini-kp has only effects. No samples or drum loops onboard. For this demo, I just plugged my computer's audio out in the mini-kp inputs and pressed play in iTunes to start playing the track.

The most important thing for acurate looping is to tap the good tempo (on the tap button) in order to follow the music.

  • Are there no synths as well? u know the old kp2 hat several loops and synths on board...

    thx for answering

  • and make more videos like that :]

  • do they have built in sounds, samples or drum beats??

if not what do you use for the beats??

  • can you load your own effects onto that from your comp?

  • You have to sample on the fly. There is no usb or MIDI port.
