  • Very nice truck. I own a v65 and can believe the video. If you were to run a 1/4 mile I think the results would favor the Honda. either way. You have an awesome truck that is fast. And a 4x4 at that.

  • @slowmotion4x4 I tend to agree. If he had another 1/8 mile he would probably have come around me. That was a very fun year at the track.

  • I am thinking that the V65 is not a first generation Magna. The forks are much shorter and it doesn't sound like one. A first generation would destroy that truck. Jay "Pee Wee" Gleason did a 10.92 second, 124.82 mph 1/4-mile on an 83 V65.

  • did u have that thing in 4wd when u were racing?

  • Yup. You can see in one of the other videos what happened when I forgot to lock the hubs in. Lotsa smoke. It's not a real good racing suspension, so as I started making more power I had to put slicks on all 4 corners and race in 4 wheel drive. Very fun.

  • soon as I saw it run the bike down, I knew the other 2 would be cake.

  • crotchrockets are for fags. this dude built a fuckin truck that could whoop about everything out there. give him props!

  • yet the bike is still cooler. i mean, it did tens with peewee gleason and tall gearing, 3.18's. peewee gleason ran both the vmax & v65 in high 10s and the vmax has a freakin' 3.66 rear end. then, i don't even know why someone would put that sort of money into a truck like that.

  • How many thousands of those bikes are there? I mean, a few hundred bucks to pick up a V65 out of the local Cycle Trader is a little short of cool. Taking an old truck and beating the "cool" bikes...now that's good ol' fashioned fun.

  • For a parts bike, maybe. A good condition magna is going to bring around $3,000. Consider the thrill of the acceleration, shifting through the gears, being able to top out in the 150's(not that i care to try)... yeah, hard to beat that with an 1/8th mile pick-up that can't do much more than go down the strip.

  • Well, the ol' truck accelerates faster, and I have to shift gears just like you, though I admit I can't do 150 with my gearing (and also wouldn't care to try). I guess it wouldn't be any fun if we all did the same thing.

  • I saw an ad in a old bike magazine when the magna first came out. Honda said that stock it could do almost 125 in a 1/4 at I think about 12-13 sec

  • There i an article that i read where the editors got the v65 to run a 10.8

  • I had a 85 v65 with a few mods, I could smoke my buddys 98 600cbr which had a pipe and air filter in a 1/4 mile. They were an awsome bike.

  • A bone stock 427 FE makes 425hp and 475 ft/lbs of torque. Now the 427's bored and stroked to a 511... that's a lot of torque and horsepower! Plus the rearend in the truck is probably running a really low gearset which means good acceleration, even if the truck does way a ton - especially on a short 1/8th mile track! I don't think that V65 had a chance! I'd put my money on that truck before any other one! Nice man!

  • That is precisely the point I have been making all along. The V65 in the video is stock, with saddlebags, at altitude, on a poorly prepared track. The result is the truck goes around it, even off the bottle. Why some of these guys can't figure that out is beyond me.

  • Yeah the V65 pulls 10s stock. It would take an insane amount of power for a lifted truck to come close to the ETs that a Magna can stock.

  • This truck makes somewhere between 820 and 880 flywheel HP on the bottle. 920+ at sea level. I think that qualifies as pretty insane for a truck. :)

  • What do you think that truck weighs in at then? BTW That little v65 is turning some little tiny tires. Lets see it pull 10's with those same size tires as the truck....... YEHA RIGHT!!!

  • I think the truck weighed about 4100-4200 with driver in that video.

  • No way a truck can beat a V65

    Fake Video!

  • This truck did 6.96 in the 1/8 mile today (6/14/2008) coasting the last 130 feet after shutting off early. Run down to your local racetrack with your V65 and try that. Real video.

  • i had an 84 v65 magna just yours, till i got in a headon collision with an asshole coming my way. but i loved that bike. as much as i loved that bike, i still believe what this truck does, and what these guys are saying. you have to take underconsideration what they say plus power-to-weight ratio...it is what it is....i know it hurts lol

  • man that truck is nuts, all the haters come out when a big truck like that comes out to play hard!! Nice work, well done. Do you do drag racing only or mud racing as well?

  • We have a traveling mud show that comes to town once per year. They will let first timers run in their street category. I think I'm gonna try it this year.

  • Damn good run with the truck. I know the Magna can do 7's in the 8th because I've done it, but at that altitude, the Magna didn't stand a chance. If I hit 5000 feet on mine, it'll fall on it's face if I try to hammer it. Sweet truck.

  • Riiiiiggghhhtt. Not only did it beat the V65, but it outran a Vmax as well, twice. I believe they are faster than your Magna, no? Actually you are close on one thing. Due to altitude and air conditions (I think we measured corrected altitude at 8,800' that day)he was weaker than normal, and was launching like a 700. Just like yours would at this altitude. Your 25+ years of experience should have told you that. Tsk, Tsk. You should be more careful what you "definately" state.

  • Thats awesome. I have an 83 v65 magna, and it is fast as all get up. I'd love to drive that truck....

  • Just out of curiosity, I searched Youtube for video of a V65 on the track. I couldn't find one at all, and certainly not a stock one doing a 10. On Google I found one credible reference of a stock V65 doing a 10.92 at OCIR during a magazine review, with a professional rider. The real world results seem to show the stock V65 averaging around 11.30 at the track with a typical rider.

  • sorry, but theres no way that is a v65. too whiny at launch. AND, real v65's can run a 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds. and if the truck runs 8.1 in 1/8, something doesnt match.

  • Yep, a V65. In spite of your comment, we are smart enough here in the country to read the nameplate on the side of a motorcycle. Read the posts below. Your post should say that a V65 can run under 11 seconds AT SEA LEVEL, ON A PREPARED DRAGSTRIP. It cannot be done on green ashpalt at 6,600' with a stock V65. Sorry.

  • Your right the bike rider cant ride?

Or this is setup for a fake video

    There is no way!!!!!!!!

If this truck does 8 second in a 1/8 mile

and the magna gets into the 10's in a 1/4 mile

If any one belives this? I will sell you some swampland in florida

  • Another Einstein that can't read the posts below. Your V65 will NOT EVER do 10's at 6,600' above sea level. If you believe it can you must already be a proud owner of plenty of Florida swampland. Ask somebody who knows about drag racing what effect altitude has on engines. Also, please post a video of yourself doing a 10 on you V65. Still Real Video.

  • Some people dont understand, they just turn the key and drive. Didnt you read the v65 Brochure? LOL. Everyone else who thinks 10's did....lol.

  • that is awsome! have you tried any other tire sizes? although she appears to be hooking up quite well with them big mudders!

  • We will be having our first race Memorial Day weekend. I will be running a new set of 35" tires. If I can hook on the launch, the smaller diameter should make a big difference downtrack.

  • i dont know if you can get 15" wheels on that rig, but did you ever look into dirt track stock car tires? they are very wide and really hook up on dirt or asphalt.

  • We actually did consider dirt track tires, but the truck came with 16.5 rims, and anything smaller will hit the calipers. I'm pretty much stuck with 16.5 or 17" rims. I also need a 35" tire. I'm afraid if I go any smaller the gearing reduction will just tear 'em loose. I guess I'm looking for a very soft, 35" tire, as wide as I can get it.

  • mickey thompson has a 35/14.50 baja belted. did you ever take a grinding wheel to the tread of a tire? just run it over as if you were removing paint from metal, and it makes the rubber extremely sticky. try it with an old tire. a little trick guys do to get more traction.

  • Thanks for the tip. I never heard of the grinder thing, maybe I'll try it on an old set.

  • LOL check out the kids, they are just "ladi da".

Pretty impressive Ford truck there. The bike rider was just asleep at the light, the rest just got owned.

  • Some of you guys crack me up. Read the post. This is an unprepared track at 6,600 feet of altitude. For some of you who let your mouth run before you do any research, that means these vehicles in the video are spinning off the line, and giving up OVER 20% of their horsepower. If you believe for a second that you can run the numbers you are talking about at this altitude, then bring it on. You'll find out quick whats its like to lose 3lbs of air pressure.

  • You know they're talking 1/8 mile not 1/4 mile, right?

  • i've had my v65 Sabre in the &'s in a 1/8 mile....i also ran a 10.29 in a 1/4 mile...only thing i did was the dave dodge oil mod...New better mufflers and I tuned the carb's.....i'm good at tuning carb's ;P...I got a 2 stage 75hp shot kit for it 2 stages 25 first 50 second...never hit 2nd button yet....

  • Magnas have been known to do the 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds. a 7 second 1/8th is very possible.

  • At 6600 feet he is down 20-25% of his horsepower depending on air quality that day. I don't think ANY rider is going to put a stock V65 very far into the 7's under those conditions, if they can get into the 7's at all.

  • That's 8 seconds in the 1/8th mile, NOT the 1/4. A V45 with a top-notch rider would probably beat the truck.

A Magna with a good rider should do the 1/8th in 6-7 seconds. This guy needs to work on his launch.

    Fast truck though.

  • nice truck

  • I have seen that truck in person, and the sound alone would make just about anyone fear being in the lane next to it. The engine is...

    ... big

  • lmao that truck is worked 8 seconds...either that or the dude on the magna cant drive for shit...
