  • This song really reaches out & speaks the pure truth of what's been goin' on, what's happenin' now & what's soon to come. It doesn't matter what religion or faith you are practicing......as long as you have a firm belief in GOD & put GOD 1st in your life, you could never go wrong.

  • Wow- finally found this song- i remember this from way back- thanks, you made my year.

  • ITS ANOTHER!!!

  • Is this dude a Jehovah's Witness? The mention of 144,000 tipped me off

  • Try reading what he told you to, the 144,000 have nothing to do with Jehovah's witness

  • @TheTennessee1967 You're absolutely right, The 144,000 will be Jews sealed by the Holy Spirit and they will be wirnesses of YAHWEH to the rest of the world. What happens is people fail to read the scriptures completely and take things out if context. That's how cults are started.

  • this made my day feel so groovy instead of stressful, i just was searching for a song that would help and this did. I just typed "one thing after another"

  • you know in the early 80s when this song came out i stopped listening to soul and R/B cuz it had a too polished vibe and i grew up in the 70s with soul when it was real but this is truly one of the greatest songs i have ever heard. it should win award after award. and his lyrics are so true. and in 2010 the world is even in a much worse shape. the end is surely near. so this song should constantly be played. its the most beatiful i have ever heard. and mikeyboy dont lie

  • I THINK YOU MEANT TO SAY "i think im pretty confident that this is him"...HAHA YOUR WASTING YOUR TIME... TALK ALL THE SHIT YOU FOOS WANT... JUST REMEBER THIS IS OVER A KEYBOARD! • I love his songs!!

  • This is my jam .... and for the person talking all that foul language - GO SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE!!!!!

  • Lovely song. It is VERY unusual that an actual singer will sing about real hope when all the others aren't . Wonderful ending.

  • Many folks song

  • MAN I FEEL THIS SONG TO THE FULLEST, THIS WORLD IS SO CRAZY, NO LOVE JUST HATE, ALL PEOPLE THINK ABOUT IS MONEY AND FAME..........SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE FLUSHING MYSELF DOWN THE TOILET

  • And he was doing so well until he screwed it up with all the superstitious, religious nonsense.

    Sigh.

  • Comment removed

  • @RACOChampions "he was a very firm believer in Jesus Christ, thanks. "

Sorry, dude...but they call that "superstitious."

    It is what it is.

People do not talk to invisible beings in the sky by telepathic message,no matter how much you would like to believe that.

Virgins do not have babies and people nailed to boards do not rise from the dead.

It has never happened, and unless you can prove it did, it didn't.

    Good song anyway.

    HAve anice day.

  • @kestrel9000 smh.. @racoChampions, just don't argue with idiots.. this guy is clearly atheist... we know who our Dad was.. pay this idiot no mind... "good song" < no it was a great song! =)

  • @Bperki Yes. It was, and IS, a great song. I used to play it on the radio in Stockton,CA, at KSTN.

  • Still relevant 28 years later!

  • when i starts talkin about what his grandmother used to tell him soooooooo deep man , it touches my heart !!!! god bless his soul ... real talk

  • i luv this song

  • @LOVER5Z You don't know what you're talking about. Richard "Dimples" Field did this song, it was his only hit. Smokey Robinson did NOT write or sing the song. LOOK IT UP! And stop with all the profane invective!

  • @4Peace4All You tell 'em again!!! These folks grates my darned nerves jumping out here posting about stuff they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about. Thats exactly how misinformation gets out in the mainstream. I remember when this jam came out ~ we wore this out at the family reunion in Sumter, SC. Gosh, I think I may have been 11 or 12 years old when this jam came out! What memories!

  • @4Peace4All Richard Dimples Field also made, "She's Got Papers On Me.

  • @4Peace4All This was not Richard "Dimples" Fields only hit. He also had a hit with the beautiful Betty Wright, She's Got Papers on me.Look it up!

  • @LOVER5Z i think its spelled "PISSED" ... and sorry to burst your bubble but Dimples did sing this song. Considering that he was my father, I think I'm pretty confident that is was him ;). If Smokey Robinson was your homie, as you claim, then you'd know the differences between their voices and their work.. Looks like you are the only one here mixed up... you should work on that..

  • @Bperki Your father's song is the one I always I listen to when my problems seem overwhelming. It never fails to put things in perspective for me. The ending where he's talking about Isiah is very uplifting. You should be very proud of him. Not everyone has a father who had a Number 1 song on the Billboard R&B charts.

  • @LOVER5Z Hey, i love smokey and was raised on him but you got it wrong- Richard field does sing this song and it came out in 82. Just look it up

  • @LOVER5Z

You have a nasty dirty mouth

    And you are so wrong.

Get you facts together before you speak

    Or just don't say anything

    Ange D

  • @lonz74 YOU R SO RIGHT

  • If you would like to know more to what dimples is talking about please look them up

  • Do y'all not get it? The only of people that teach this is the Jehovah Witnesses. If you would like more to what "dimples" please look them up.

  • you want crazy this is the 21st century and people are creating new ass technology to mess up your world and maybe to entrap you into thier world..now there's a tap card you put money on it to travel on city buses what's next THE MARK OF THE BEAST a one world government well stay tuned you're going to wish u were born in 1929 i know i do, because the world is going to be different when these babies grow up..

  • So true lonz74...the lyrics are a description of what is taking place today! wow!

  • Best song ever!!!

  • No bad how it gets..and i got it pretty poo at the mo.....This puts it all back into prospective...genius..R.I.P Brother!

  • @Njc0las HOW ABOUT SNOOP GOT HIS FROM THIS SONG??

  • @redman803 hip hop when done right is the best music ever!! sampling and using the old school joints, paying homage to those b4 us. resurrecting the sounds of the familiar and the rare and re creating them. thanx 2 dre and snizoop, but this song in its original form is 1 of the best and timeless songs a ever heard!

  • @Njc0las how retarded is this comment. LOL.. How does a song made in the early 80s steal from a snoop song that was made wayyyy later? LOL.. I guess common sense isn't THAT common..

  • @Bperki Apparently not if you can't sense the ridiculously obvious playful sarcasm. Sucks for you!

  • @Bperki I'm willing to bet like $50 that I produce and record more songs in 1 year than you've done your whole life. Learn to take a joke!

  • @sametradesigns Now you said a mouthful because you see it everyday

  • I like this song because the people all around the world have problems sometime it's hard to deal with when you solve one problem something else comes up so let all of us as people help our love ones, friends, mother, dad, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, girlfriend, boyfriend, wife husban let come together.

  • I remember when this song first came out also. This song is timeless from 1982 up until now, same thing going on. The monologue at the end offers positive hope and you don't hardly hear that too often in secular music. Beautiful track hands down. Just found out Mr. Fields had passed may he rest in peace and not be forgotten. Have a peaceful journey,"Dimples"!

  • i remember when this came out i loved it then and it fits my life now

  • In New York back in 1981-1982, the FM stations played the entire song with the sermon.

  • Hey,

I think that I once went out that ugly woman named Sadie.

Talk about adding to my woes.

  • Does anybody have the lyrics to this song? I have most of the words but there are some words I can't make out.

  • it would be better without the religious message at the end. well, if it ain't one thing it's another.
