ohhh I see too bad I don't have the luxury to try things out atm. T_T I'm very occupied with my job right now as a game programmer. =] Will check it out if I have time, thanks. ^_^
Can't really comment on this cause I haven't experienced other graphics engines out there. But yeah I find it alright, it had all the features that we needed. Ogre doesn't have a 2d ui module by default though, so that kinda gave us a hard time (but it has some ui modules developed by other people). But personally if I was to go back in time, I would rather use XNA for our thesis instead of OGRE. =]
oops sorry for the late reply been disconnected from the net for a while due to my current job lolx. umm we already scrapped the whole engine cause nobody was maintaining it, and now its nowhere to be found sorry X_x' It's not that great btw, if you really want to develop games, I suggest you check out xna. Do a google search for xna creators then click on the first link. ^_^
We worked for about 6 months for the engine itself.
For the game, we worked on it for about 2 weeks I think using the engine.
All in all I think we worked on this game using the engine for about a total of 60 working hours. (just an estimate) sorry I couldn't give the exact development time =p
Do you know a gay guy named Adrian Aiinas? He's from a computer science course and as far as i can remember he's talking about something very similar to this.. still great stuff.. I suggest you join the YOU GOT GAME competition.. you might land a place there.. gudluck dude!!! more power!!!
Wow... This is amazing.. especially from an amateur.. Great stuff you got here man. Are you the only one who made this? this is so friggin' cool!!!! What programming language did you use? And um..
C++ but I recommend using C# + XNA instead of C++ for new game developers and small projects like this lolx hahaha thanks ^_^ there are 4 of us in our thesis ^_^
1.) Computer Science = Anything that is computer related.
2.) Don't take my word for this one. Maybe the hardest part in computer science is understanding how the computer works. One more thing, if you really love what you're doing, no matter how hard it is you'll eventually succeed despite the hardships and trials.
3.) Programmers, Web designers, Game Developers, Hackers, Hardware Engineers , etc...
Wow,
Great game friend...

You should try Dark GDK, although that requires C++. I use Dark GDK and its very good, i have some tutorials for it on my channel if you need help.

Here are the stuff that we used.
1.) OGRE (Object Oriented Graphics Engine)
2.) Fmod Ex (Sound Engine)
3.) ODE (Open Dynamics Engine) (physics engine - only used for collision)
4.) LUA (scripting language)

thanks for the reply... What sites, books, or topics can you suggest for game development? like what you've made..
I really need advices for my thesis title... And I don't have any idea where to start at.

vulatskee, what softwares did you use for this particular game?
khookie 4 years ago
We used many third party software to develop this game namely:
1.) OGRE (Open Source Graphics Engine) (I think)
2.) Fmod Ex (Sound Engine)
3.) ODE (Open Dynamics Engine) (physics engine)
4.) LUA (scripting language)
5.) Legacy engine (our very own game engine integrating all these components) ^_^
and also, the game is programmed in C++

ha ha...that is coo. Hey I was wondering since you guys made this, if you could answer a few questions for me? Thanks :-)
Cuz that is my intended major and I want to understand more about it.
1) In your opinion, what is computer science?
2) What is the most challenging aspect of this field?
3) What sort of jobs do you know of that people get with this degree?
4) Is programming a large part of computer science?
5) In your opinion how is computer science useful?
1989grim 4 years ago
1.) Computer Science = Anything that is computer related.
2.) Don't take my word for this one. Maybe the hardest part in computer science is understanding how the computer works. One more thing, if you really love what you're doing, no matter how hard it is you'll eventually succeed despite the hardships and trials.
3.) Programmers, Web designers, Game Developers, Hackers, Hardware Engineers , etc...
4.) Yeah, programming is everywhere in Comsci
5.) No Computer Science = Manual Labor
