  • Portal 2 song ? :)

  • what happens if u play Devo backwards in it

  • 2 people's brains could not comprehend the awesomeness of this, so thumbed down (and probably had an aneurysm.)

  • Crazy!!

  • Cool converter!

Took me some time to run this Python script though ;)

CNC mill singing tetris theme was huge "visitor magnet" at open days at our school... Kinda sad that it was more interesting than actual milling though...

  • Hope this bot doesn't lose sight of its original purpose and go broadway.

  • i tried some downloed midi, even made a solo track , but the output files in black. help

  • THIS IS AWESOME! :D everytime i hear this song it makes me think of old computers and how lovely my old amiga A500 is! ^^

  • I wonder if it would cut out the cake while playing this.

  • If I were a programmer and a hardware technician, I would program that as an option for standby before it ships out... neato people would think...

  • That is so lame but I had to smile.

  • That´s even better than the original song !

  • This CNC Machine ist totally going to rule the world sometime.

  • Супер :)

  • i was surprised to hear this song. i love this song. can i have th program and is it compatible with CAD

  • i love this song.portal 2 should come out soon.this was a triumph making a note here huge success its hard to overstate my satisfactio

  • THE CAKE IS A LIE

    THE CAKE IS A LIE

    THE CAKE IS A LIE

    THE CAKE IS A LIE_

  • hahahahaha fucking epic!!

  • that speaker is to expensive for me.

  • (O_O) no offence but some people just have too much time on their hands. But its not like im different, spending all my time helping people through tests and killing them.

  • PORTAL!!!

    the cake is a lie

  • Awesome.. Have seen others do this with there stepper motors and was totally blown away by it. I would never have the time to figure this out. I will definitely be looking for it when you do post the midi to Gcode program.

  • A few years ago I began experimenting with spindle speeds and writing (musical) programs for a milling center at work. I've impressed engineering, visitors and management with several different tunes and even taken requests. All hand typed with speeds and dwells calculated with a simple calculator. There is a simple formula for calculating pitch accuracy. With 2 machines you can write a melody with a bass/harmony part. No MIDI involved. I write everything in my spare time then bring it to work.

  • They let me get by with it as long as I don't spend too much company time with it. This post is a nice example of polyphonic music on one machine. I would have to use two machines. Programming a machine to do something it was not intended to do (play music) is FUN! I can tell you it's nothing short of thrilling to hear these KIRA's play a song and watching peoples mouths drop open in utter disbelief! I must also admit that I really didn't think ANYBODY ELSE would have ever even tried this.

  • @libertatus I would love to see multiple machines playing in time with each other. Imagine a huge shop floor, all machines engaged doing some epic orchestral classical piece.

  • This is what you can do with stepper motors, there Frequency driven

  • You, Sir, have found a point of genius that I must admire, doff my hat, and salute.

    A triumph indeed!

  • Hah! CNC Music Factory. Nice pun.

  • This is actually a greater degree of win than the 8080 video.

You, good sir, have won the internet.

  • Dude, i love you <3

  • it would be cool if it was cutting out a galdos eye at the same time it was play the song.

  • /eating cake and dancing at the same time

  • What IS that thing?!!

  • I want to see what the machine would cut out if you ran this with a board or something in the tool path.

  • cool

  • Awesome video. Keep on with that good work!

  • five stars just because the song!...(if had been something else, they would have been 4) so, well done ^^

  • LOL! Awesome!

  • blegh, how can you be so skilled with cnc man?! :P

  • THIS WAS A TRIUMPH !

  • Nice job this is too cool!

  • God this is full of win.

  • Beautiful.

  • Watching this makes me wish I was female so that I could bear you children.

  • lmao

  • lamo

  • OMG its got 2 bits of music coming from it! both axes playing 1 bass and 1 main ... that's soo freaking amazing!

  • And don't forget the Z axis. There are actually 3 axis in total playing Still Alive. X, Y, Z

  • HUGE SUCCES!

  • wow, thats impressive. i wish i knew how to program soemthing like that. i never thought u could make a cnc sing. awesome.

  • Best thing I've seen one of these make yet! :-D

  • damn!! =o

  • WTF! Dude, that's insane.. in a good way. :)

  • Dear sir, I LOVE YOU!

    YOU ARE A FRIKIN' GENIUS!

    Yours Faithfully

    MemcwhoDave

  • OK, nobody has asked this yet, so...

What does it make if it actually has stock in the machine?

This is critical, because as long as it's not some tiny pellet, it could *totally* be a collectors' item!

  • That is so lame it's almost cool again.

  • this sounds better than the original lol

  • hahahh cnc wanted a break and begun to sing

  • Wow, and they say I have to much time on my hands!

  • That is awesome.

... but does it CNC a cake if you turn the spindle on and put something underneath?

  • @evi1wombat No, the cake is a lie.

  • @evi1wombat NO! The cake is a lie!

  • wow

  • Dude publish that coding idea its awesome!!

  • wow, wow WOW!!!! This is the coolest thing... too bad the cake is a lie... or is it?!

  • the cake is not a lie!!!!

Great sounds btw. Pretty stellar :)

  • The cake is not a lie. You just refused to be baked and now all the cake is gone!

  • Sounds to me with this CNC all you need now a monkey with a cup in hand. Might make a few extra bucks.

  • i don't quite understand? can anyone explain it to me :)

  • yeah. screw chiptune, gimme some cnc music!!!

  • Very cool, I never thought of using all three axis for music.

Now to watch some dot matrix music and some music played on an electric spark ;) So cool.

  • Ah, I've gotta do this. I've been looking for a MIDI to G-Code converter for a while now. Great choice of songs, too.

  • Nice man..! Great Job

  • Has Jonathan Coulton seen this yet? If not - someone should make sure he does!

  • the cake is a lie xDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • This will make my 9yrold son deliriously happy, as it did me. Post an MP3!

  • dude I hope you take this a best as possible but your an egg head with a neat-o music playing device. sound could be a scoch better like some of the notes sound flat to me. anyway good job and that must have taken you a while to make
