@mondosacro dude it thier opinion its your opinion carolina kostner has the most beatufil triple flip like its their opinion yuna kim has the best triple flip
@songaji1 Carolina has the best triple flip, high, long and elegant ... there is no comparison ... just because he won the olympics does not mean that her triple flip is spectacular ... triple flip Carolina is spectacular ... sorry for my bad english
Judges also watch the jump on the angle of where they are sitting. Flip is a jump taking off the inside. If it's straight, it's now considered a wrong edge because it is not an exact edge. They don't look at the ice mark, but how the foot buckles into the air.
It's a flat edge, but could be lip. I'm in between. Flat edge was allowed last year. Now it's wrong edge if you have it on flat edge this year. Since the Olympics, Judges have been very picky on the jumps and even mostly on footworks. The time of the Olympics people have been doing the same thing as the other. Judges are looking for definite outside and inside edges on both lutz and flip. Which sucks sometimes, but we gotta live with it. Flat edge also can get someone into the outside edge.
If there are some people who insists that Yuna's flip is a lip, they should fix their eyes. Her flip's edge was and is always backward SLIGHT INSIDE. This is a textbook flip.
Hello, I'm planning to make a video on jumps. Now, I'm picking out jumps that are "special", e.g., "best triple loop", "weirdest double axel", "fastest rotation by my not-so-healthy eye", etc.
If you would like to participate, you can send me a message with the clip of the program, the year, the music, and the skater's last name. I'll reply what I have so far. I accept only women skaters, sorry. :(. Although I also like men's figure skating!
plus, Mao gets always downgraded on her triple axel. All through this season, and last season except for the Olympic. How can you say the triple axel is her trade mark? She's not good at other jumps and that's why "trying to jump triple axel" became her trade mark.
@BradleyPak absolutely agree. not being bias or something. and i think she's just lucky for not falling on 3A at the olympics knowing her inconsistency..well just give credit for her courage and overflowing desire for gold to do that coz it's her only chance of getting the gold...and ofcourse if yuna failed her huge jumps.
Not only triple jumps, but Mao can not complete to Yuna in any elements. Mao's program interpretation is worse than other top skaters and she is so slow across the ice. It's not like there are 16 years old with old rivalry relationship .
@jipureij I already did, Yu-Na starts her takeoff on a remotely flat blade not telling us whether she is on an outside or inside edge. Once she takes off her outside edge is undeniable. She is on the wrong edge.
@pinto89100 watch?v=u-JDIGUkEok go watch this..-_-; bashing her on every triple flip video of Yuna's is just simply pathetic. Also, as for commenters, it's not just NBC who was amazed by her performance and said she was perfect. It was the CTV (canada), CCTV (China), RUS-EURO-(Russia), SPA(Spain), UK-EURO (England), BBC (England), GER EURO -(Germany).
@jipureij Mind giving me a valid address, thank you?
You can call it pathetic all you want, but I'm tired of this stupid fabrication that Yu-Na's flip is perfect when it's not. I'm not saying she's sucks but the simple truth, that is not bashing. I'm not blind and I have watched figure skating for many years, I know what an inside edge looks like. Apparently you don't, and I strongly suggest you going on google, enter "inside edge on figure skating blade" and learn how it's supposed to look.
@pinto89100 watch?v=u-JDIGUk that's after the youtube url. It doesn't let me post my comment if i put the whole url in the box..i'm not sure why. I have been a figure fan for a while but i was more of mesmerized distant watcher before. I only started paying more attention and stared to look deeper in to the techniques recently. I was trying to find more videos of that triple jump and it looks perfect to me. SLIGHT 5degrees inside edge right? it's supposed to be almost flat isn't it?????
@jipureij Yes, I've done that already but for some reason the link simply doesn't work. I'd also like to apologize for my rather rude comment now that I have re-read it.
I'm pretty sure I know of the video you're trying to send me which shows a breakdown of Yu-Na's flip, which I have seen. I have to say that the video only proved to me that Yu-Na does indeed take off on the wrong edge. Going into the cornering skid she is on a slight inside edge but as she progresses the blade is (cont)
---remotely flat and once she takes off she's on a full blown outside edge. I know my comments must be annoying, but really it's incredible how many people have actually been fooled into thinking her flip is textbook. She is a very, VERY good jumper and very talented, I am not denying that. But it really irks me that other skaters are being called out for doing lips in videos and in competitions, and for some reason Yu-Na has gotten around this to the point her flip is called textbook.
@pinto89100 no. she has textbook jumps. the edge must be a slight edge go and look onto the isu video on flip. they clearly said when take off, the marking should be straight lined with slith edge. that is what yuna has unlike mao and many other skaters. deep inside edge with curves on ice when take off
@sumimimi0 The flip has to take off from the backward inside edge, otherwise it's a LIP. Yu-Na used to have a really bad lip, but I acknowledge that it has improved, although not enough to call it textbook. That's ridiculous.
Mao does not lip, her problem has always been the lutz.
@pinto89100 i didn't say mao had lip. i said she had deep inside edge. yuna has inside edge. i don't see a reason arguing when people like scott hamilton says that she has perfect inside edge. she has a slight inside edge can barely see. can you prove she has lip? you can barely see she has an outside edge. many men actually jumps like yuna slight edge, barely seen
@sumimimi0 Scott Hamilton? ROFLMAO. The guy who said a 3-3 combo is harder than a triple axel because it has more revolutions (NOT) ? I'm not listening to the guy who's biased commentary makes it so obvious that he favors Yu-Na Kim.
I can't prove anything unless you know what an inside edge looks like. If you think that Yu-Na doesn't lip, then you either simply don't know or you're DELUDING YOURSELF. Go look at Yu-Na's LP at SA where the angle couldn't be more clearer---(cont)
@pinto89100 i have similar feeling about Hamilton. According to his thinking 3a-2t should be worth as many points as 2A-3t, isn;t it? This guy is ridiculous.
I don't know if Yuna's flip was lip, but if judges decided it wasn't, then I don't get why Rochette got more points for it. Rochette flip wasn't as good as flips of Mao & Yuna and she got the highest GOE among all. Strange
@resfriada1 ?? since when did he say that?? i think he did not. unless scott is stupid which he is not, same revolution but the level of dificulty is so different.
@sumimimi0 No, no- he didn't say it. I mean "according to his thinking". He told that 3-3 has more revolutions than 3A-2t and because of that it's more difficult. 3a-2t has the same revolution as 2a-3t so concluding there have the same level of difficulty. Of course that would be ridiculous, just like saying 3a-2t is less difficult than 3-3 becasue it has less revolutions.
@resfriada1 uh.. i have the whole package of nbc, for olympic sp and lp,, scott did not say that... and do not believe that pinto guy about yuna's flip, he is spamming every yuna's flip videos, saying her flip is a lip just because she got a attention mark for the 2009 season.
@resfriada1 well, if scott did say that,,, he is not totally wrong. he is actually correct, 3-3 is harder than 3a-2t for mao. mao cannot jump a triple lutz but can jump triple axel so..... but only for mao, definitely
If after that, you still think that Yu-Na takes off from the backward inside edge, then I suggest you go to google and look for a picture of a backward inside edge and study it.
this is textbook right here. if you say otherwise, apparently you don't know squat about figure skating.
