Hey everyone, please check out my version...I love Christy so much, figuring you guys will be hard to please so any tips welcome :-) /watch?v=aPgqvjLdFjE
Good question! Don't know, but Christy learned it from someone called Hamish Imlach and it seems to be an American song that came from Scotland hundreds of years ago!
The US can be a great holding point/ source for these old songs, that our forebears took with them across the Atlantic! Let us not blame the children for what we have forgotten!
"Celtic" music/songs are never written in America brainless! But they are often preserved there, taken by & cherished by the Scots & irish who emigrated there!
black is the coler of my true loves hair her lips are like sum roses fair she has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands and i love the gound wereon she stands i love my love an well she knows an i love the ground wereon she goes
I disagree, I listen to almost only metal music, but this is such a powerful version of this song, and the way Christy presents it is perfect aswell because you know that he is so passionate about it, he is enjoying it, therefore anyone watching will enjoy it aswell.. Christy doesn't need an orchestra behind him to show everyone how great a song this is, I prefer the more raw approach that Christy goes for.
but give Christy credit, you can see that "HE FEELS" his music, I thjink he's cult and I've seen him perform all over the globe, hes straight, hes true, hes an artist, an a good Irish one at that....
Get up Christy, yer a lad... (I'm flying over from Germany tommorow, would love to see a gig of yours back on the auld sod if possible)
whats your problem elvis?! suppose your one of those gimps that goes into watch a video of someone u don't even like...well then fuck off somewhere else
im sitting here thinking of ways you will DIE and one way or the other im sure you'll get what you have coming if your going to commet on this man having met him myself i can tell you your brain dean dead so stick to jedward muppet
Black is the colour,of my true loves hair Her lips are like, some roses fair She has the sweetest smile, and the gentlest hands And i love the ground, where on she stands I love my love, and well she knows I love the ground, where on she goes I wish the day,it soon would come When she and I,could be as one I go to the Clyde,to mourn and weep For satisfied,I never can be I write her letter, just a few short lines And suffer death,a thousand times
this is by far my favorite Christy Moore song. it's so beautiful and romantic. It was the first song I heard from this artist and I fell in love at once.
love that song! A friend and his girlfriend sang it on New Years Eve. He played the guittar and I think every girl was crying that night :-)

....so what does his brother have to do with a chick with black hair?
brennan2185 1 year ago
@brennan2185 His brother has nothing to do with the song ... but he was wishing him all the best as he was going to America.
fearghak 1 year ago
@brennan2185 He was wishing him luck--it might also be a favorite of his brother's.
irkofan 11 months ago
Awesome song...but what does his brother have to do with anything?
brennan2185 1 year ago
@brennan2185 His brother is Luka Bloom, changed his name to make a name in his own right, rather than always being Christy's brother.
