Thats pretty wierd i bought my iphone 4 on the release day in texas. an my was perfectally fine. it was even preforming better than i thought it would. ive still yet to have one problem with mine. except for about 3 droped kalls

That's the exact noise that mine made when I got it wet. You just need to turn it off and leave it over night and the problem should go :)

Yes, reset the phone. Turn it off hard turn off (slide to power down) then power it back on. If it persists try it again, it took us a couple of resets.

that's odd... I'm glad I've waited.

I've also waited because I'm not ready to leave Verizon's amazing service, but because all 1st edition apple products have these minor glitches. They'll fix 'em soon hopefully.

I have a 3GS and it did this once so far since the firmware update. I just shut the phone off and rebooted and it hasn't made the sound since. Of course, it's only been about 12 hours...
