  • Heavy artillery level: Batou.

  • 0bama was having gay sex with arab children and spreadin communism/Islam in the USA

    during this video. *l*

  • Never bring a tank to a Major Kusanagi fight. =P

  • Man, they just don't make anime like this anymore. The atmosphere in this was so damn thick, Like Bladerunner.

  • The music in this movie is absolutely amazing.

  • Just poetry with bullets and music.

  • the weapons+tank deisgner and action sequence are from a time where production artists knew their stuff. no fancy neon lights or fancy unnecessary explosions. Pure military efficiency+ realistic futurism+ ballet combat sequence. Some kind of combat poetry.

  • apparentley saito's in this film, where the fuck was he? i must have missed him

  • Robot can't reach huminis(human).

  • Reminds me of metal gear

  • @MrThommyL Metal Gear reminds you of this.

  • Such a good movie

  • Best anime ever.

  • This is one of the few animes that I actually enjoy

  • 1:33 lol Absolutely NONE of the glass didn't hit the tank.

Why'd she rip her cloths off, to increase mobility?

  • @yarow122

She can only cloak when naked.

  • @Carritohmc thanks i needed that....so now i can show the emotion.....AH DAMN THAT GOTTA HURT!!!

  • Can somebody tell me uh....what the fucks happened here?

  • @TheAlanwake2010 she's a cyborg special agent on the trail of a super hacker, follows a lead and ends up running into an ambush (the tank). The reason her arms rip off is she's using so much force (ignoring pain receptors, pushing herself to the limit) she practically breaks herself (similar concept to a hernia or muscle strain).

  • @88FFX88 this is the movie

  • im not gonna lie i think she looks hotter in ghost in the shell stand alone complex...

  • Shes so hot and radical if i was an animation on the show i would save her and die for her and the world that would be tight yo but its just a cartoon show

  • @rizzle400 Dude , you are noble

  • Damn she looked hot with no clothes on!!

  • A few things to point out for those that are clueless. 1) Motoko's body was/is full cybernetic. That's part of the reason why she shrinks after she breaks herself. 2) Awesome gun. Makes another apperance in the first series; second episode "testation". 3) Taxi driver was a really good movie, but it's not science fiction. To compare the two is a complete FAIL. 4) One of the best animes of all time, period.

  • so no one mentioned kenji kawai?

    too bad.

  • Anyone else find it kinda funny when she shrinks after her arms break?

  • It took me several viewings to notice the blood dripping down the arm of the tank at the end. It's a nice subtle touch.

  • Dubbed English makes me sad.

  • the tank looks so very trheatening...

  • Maybe she should have jiggled it a few times and used proper lifting technique. Probably would have come lose without having to rip her arms off.

  • @Krusnik66 it's like a jar of pickles.... need loosening

  • @Krusnik66

You know man, sometimes when you're fighting a tank that has at least 5 times your strength you just gotta go quick about it, don't have time to jiggle, you know what I'm sayin'?

  • one of those scenes you must play at max volume :D

  • Hence why i would like to have a prosthetic body...only keep your brain as the primary organ and everything else synthetic...come on technology push the boundry

  • GITS 2.0 suck compare to original GITS. this scene was amazing but suck in 2.0

  • The comments to this video are like in a weird alternate opposite universe where logic has no meaning.

If you like the matrix there's no reason to dislike this movie. OH REALLY? In what UNIVERSE does that statement make any sense?

Go watch Taxi Driver, that's an actual good movie.

  • The video has an ad from someone called Ben Howard, a nausiating nasal sounding prick.

    god I hate youtube ads.

  • ghost in the shell always had a great sense of danger, there's was lots of tension in the action which would probably bore a lot of people who want EXPLOSIONS

  • Her face when she got grabbed was pretty much "Oh shit"

  • What 's the season and episode number ??

  • @88FFX88 Its from the first movie

  • @88FFX88 SMH (Facepalm) fuckin kids

  • I love how, if you pause exactly between 5:53 and 5:54, you can see that even the half second it took the cannon's toggle to cycle was animated.

  • O_O SHEESH!!! HER ARMS RIPPED OFF!!! F**k! And finally found this video.

  • In one of my vids i have said GITS is my fav film and this scene a big reason why. A true classic.

  • This scene is really excellent.... it just makes me a little uncomfortable and sad:(

  • The tank for some reason reminds me of a dinosaur with big guns. Really big guns.

    GITS was a great movie.

  • The director of Matrix got many of his ideas from this anime. Lobby combat scene and this have similarities.

  • 5:53 now thats a fuking gun!

  • This is an action scene but still so calm and easy to follow. Oshii's action scenes look like this in Avalon too.

  • 16 years later and this scene still remains one of the most visually spectacular animated fight sequence ...... ever

  • @dudeinthesea Oshii is one of those directors, that no matter what medium he is a part of, his action sequences will always stand the test of time. They're just... extraordinary.

  • i like motoko but Bato did it better:D.....

  • I want Batou's gun!!!

  • @soberek Try this:

    watch?v=HyAl9qK3Rlg

  • @P3tr05h Damn, STILL not big enough.

  • the spinning barrel of the tank when it runs out of ammo, so iconic and classic.

  • That tank is super sexy , really

  • What purpose did it serve to cripple herself ?

  • @kanesoban She essentially tried to rip open the cockpit of the tank, where the brain is located, with brute force.

  • @RPGflms Didn't realy worked did it?

  • @kanesoban Well... you got to understand Motoko's character first to know why. As I see it, she was really desperate to learn about the Poppetmaster and this was her last shot before either section 6 kills her and the Poppetmaster or section 9 takes custody and use it to bargain with. Think about it, through the whole movie Motoko is always doubting her own ghost, her own humanity while there is this program running around claiming that he is as human as everybody else... see the duality of it?.

  • @kanesoban she answered that at 1:50..

  • @kanesoban It's a methaphore of the revelation of her soul with an anatomical description of her body. Erotism always have been THE way to understand Motoko. Because she incarnates the perfect mystery of feminity.

  • @kanesoban Have you ever tried lifting something by using so much force that you pull a muscle? Same concept, except she doesn't have (or can ignore at will) some of the pain signals that tells our brains to stop straining or we'll break.

  • the best part.Tanks should look like this in the future.

    thanx for posting.Dude

  • because parachutes are for pussies anyway

  • why can't I embed this vid? too violent?

  • 5:54 motherfucking awesome gun, i remember seeing this when i was younger, i looked everywhere for some info on this gun, i can't remember what's it called D:

  • 05:42 - I want that gun =/

  • This scene is so damn BEAUTIFUL!!! Perfect example of how anime makes art out of violence. Love this film.

When she gets torn to pieces, I feel sad and at the same time exhilarated. It's hard to explain why. And I know that a great many men find this scene erotic. Hell, I understand them.

  • too bad the remake litterally sucked

  • I don't think 'literally' means what you think it means.

  • it just the way it sounded. i just rekon the original is better :)

  • @sophiavladimirovna33

"I feel sad and at the same time exhilarated"

Yes I know the feeling and I think I know why it gets to us. You see - its like an epic fight between David and Goliath. She fight with such a skill against this powerfull enemy, she even manages to inflict damage on him and when she's on the brink of victory she fails, the effort tear her to pieces...Its like in life :) you try as hard as you can against the overwhelming odds and sometimes despite the efforts you lose...

  • @sophiavladimirovna33 well.. She IS naked.

  • man this bring me back it made me like anime :) Major u rocks

  • the matrix is based on this movie , really

The makers of the matrix where fans of this movie

  • This Tank Fight ist my favourite scene in the whole anime, it's just so unexpected! There's also that climatic feeling which makes the tank look like a big boss at the end of the stage - and the calm, but incredibly fitting music makes everything even better.

  • if you liked the matrix there is really no real reason for your to dislike this movie. At the time it came out it was groundbreaking and revolotionary for anime. I dont know if you were raised in the 90's or not but it kicked ass then and i still think its a great movie. But i do agree with you on the sequals, they were no where near as good as the first

  • @RPGflms one of the sequels even demoted Motoko to a cameo. She's at least 50% of the reason to watch Ghost in the Shell in the first place. Dumbass idea.

  • i think your right. can you call a few good series.

i like gun and sword fight. like samurai champloo and cowboy bebop. If you dont know this shows, you have to search (for samurai champlo) mogen vs jin on youtube. for cowboy bebop. watch the fight between spike and pierro le fot...

  • Have you watched Ninja Scroll?

  • No but thanks for the tipp!!

    IOU

    Peace

  • Leave now and make sure i don't ever find you

  • the wachowski bros are indebted. BIG TIME.

  • For sure, and this wasn't the only scene that the carried over into the matrix.

For those of you that have not noticed...See any resemblance between this scene and Neo fighting through the loby of the first matrix movie?

  • @RPGflms There is no comparison. Sorry for answering this a year later, but there is nothing similar from this fight to the matrix fight. The only thing is that there is a person running around in a gunfight using pillars as cover. That's it.

  • Bleah! Brutal from 5:20

  • Anyone know the title of the music thats been played in the background?

  • ive got the soundtrack

  • it's called "floating museum" on the soundtrack, google "galbadia hotel" it's on the mp3 list.

    I love it too :)

  • Best scene of my favorite movie.

  • me too defo, makes me think of the bigger picture for some reason.

  • All really need at the end of the day is a really big gun.

  • tank fight makes my top 5 scenes out of movies of all time, pure class.

  • What is Motoko doing with her rifle? Exchanging the barrel?

  • im pretty sure the barrel overheated and she dumped it in the water to cool it off.

  • Comment removed

  • Found what i looked for.. she's exchanging the barrel of her rifle to fire high-velocity ammo.

  • cool, waht i thought was that she was switching it out beacuse she wore it down with the hv ammo, but i ddint want to tell you anyhitn that i didnt kno for sure.
