In that particular game, you need to cheat to keep them alive, but the idea isn't to keep them alive, it's the continuation of each generation. I like the fact that your sims have to eventually die, after all we can't live forever in the real world either.

@maythehedgehogangel Where did I say I needed to cheat? If you're talking about running this on emulator, I do that for the sake of time. If I captured footage off my NES, and if I had to go back and capture footage of something particular that I missed on the first run, I'd have to potentially go through the entire game to get a 4 second clip. Keeping save states of each level makes that a lot more effective so it doesn't take forever to put together a walkthrough.

he didn't explain about the 1 ups correctly. to get the hidden 1 up in world 2-1 you have to avoid getting the hidden 1 up in world 1-1 and to get the hidden 1 up in world 3-1, you have to stomp the third goomba to your right and you'll bounce off and probably end up hitting the hidden 1 up block, but if you simply jump and try to hit the hidden 1 up, it wont work.

Actually, to get the hidden 1-UP in every succeeding stage you will have to collect all of the coins (and I do mean all of them, miss even one and you'll be disappointed) in the third round of each preceding world.

You have no idea how much time I spent trying to jump over the flag in 3-3(because I heard the same thing). I was never able to and I'm pretty sure it isn't possible.

For the 1up trick you stand right up against the next step and jump straight up (don't jump to your right) as the turtle falls onto that step.  It's usually a short jump that makes it work for me. I won't guarantee it will work every time. If it doesn't work you can just fall into the pit before it and try again when you get to that part.

The only reason why the pause trick was suggested for MM1 is because it's damn near impossible to beat that boss without it.

Bottom step homie. You can't do the 1-UP

trick in 3-1 easily on any other step. In fact let me say it like this. You need to perform the trick on the very first step, when Mario is on the ground. Tap the jump button lightly and Mario should start bouncing, but as a kid it use to trip me up.

if youve ever played super paper mario you level up with points and it had a setting similar to the infinite one up trick but if you start jumping on the koopa it will go up to plus 9000 and nintendo decided to play a cruel trick and after 9000 it starts going minus 9000 over and over

For the turtle-tipping - you keep jumping up to the next block to meet the koopa. That's why it's not working. Jumping straight up so the shell is one block above you is how you get it to work.

It's also much easier if you're big.

Just curious, Aqualung, is there a particular reason Bullet Bill are your favorite Mario enemies? Bullet Bills are awesome, I'm just curious as to if there was something to it, like how I like Koopa Paratroopas becuase I like turtles and things that fly and Paratroopas combine that, and Boos because I like supernatural/ghost stuff and because I find them to be adorable with how they hide from Mario, especially with how they're depicted in the Super Mario World comic and other stuff.
