Stage 4 from Apollo 8-12 all flew by the moon and entered heliocentric (around the sun) orbit. The astronauts would have done that too if they didn't actively slow down to orbit the moon. The stages from later expeditions were sent to impact the moon for seismic experiments. How big is your nose by now?

I've heard Aldrin talking about this on various occasions. This particular interview he's being quite reticent about this compared to other interviews. I also recall him talking in some Discovery channel show where he was saying quite clearly that he believes in ETs. Then I realized that the either the directors of various clips, or the people who posted the interviews onto YouTube, took his statements out of context and thus gave them a different meaning than the one Aldrin intended.
