@rs200000000000 They don't make them anymore but I've discovered that you can take a supercharger from a pontiac or buick and put it on the camaro. But in order for it to work properly your gonna have to use some of the parts from the engine that the supercharger came off of.
@gmpushrodpower your gonna have to change out some of the top end on the engine like the valves and the cams and some of the electronics/sensors. From what I understand this retrofit, if you can call it that, is labor intensive.

no sir. i have 180k on my cammed 3.8 and im planning on running a procharger on it. as long as you take care of them and do regular matinence they last 300k+. these motors can handle boost as well. its all in the tune ;)
V6 turbo's and superchargers are great and all but why not go with a cam, ported heads, high compression pistons and a huge shot of nitrous. It would be about same money but wayyyyyyy more power and torque. Later on down the road put 4.10 or 4.56 gears in and some slicks then take it to the track. I guarantee people would shit themselves seeing a v6 get those numbers.

SC would be easier and cheaper. just have to find a SC off of an older thunderbird 3.8L and get an adaptor plate and a new tuner and custom dyno tunes. the tuner i have does not support tune files made for boost unfortunately. i would hope for an extra 40-60hp tho. that would be sweet! and that would also be very different like vettemaro said. and +1 with buying a V8 instead of motor swapping. just too much involved in that IMO.

To do a gm eaton supercharger like off a 05 monte carlo you would have to do some fabrication the rear of supercharger. like cuttin part of it off and making your own intake that would curve to the side because of lack of room. and if you were going to buy a motor to do a motor swap you might as well buy a v8 since it already has lots of power, good luck with whatever you decide to do

@nando8nando If you're looking for THAT motor, 3.8L v6 SC, find a late 90's-early 2000's Buick Regal, they came stock with that motor. the later ones pushed ~300hp with the right setup, earlier ones ~240-260hp

A V8 is fast but it's inefficient when you gas it, in order to get that 29mpg you'll need to be nice with the throttle and never floor it, The 3800 in question is a lighter engine with better mechanical efficiency, but it will never be a platform for drag, it'd be nice but really it's just not made for that, on the other hand it's prime for high speed maneuvering making it an optimal choice for auto cross, check out the concept behind lotus cars lighter = less stress on the entire vehicle

what is the exhuast set up u got sounds good i got a 01 monte total rebuild with zzpreformance g1 cam and new ported heads not charged just N/A i got headers but cant find a good exhuast set up it sound like a ricer car ??
@bjsniffitproductions If you can't find one, get an ls7 top. It was the factory supercharging option for 3800 trnsverse cars. port and polish the intake and heads and things like that and you will have a fast 3.8.
@vinylcollector08 6 is decent and a good setup for what the car can handle, superchargers can go to higher numbers though, and there have been camaros tuned at 24 PSI, which is incredibly high

@nando8nando If you're looking for THAT motor, 3.8L v6 SC, find a late 90's-early 2000's Buick Regal, they came stock with that motor. the later ones pushed ~300hp with the right setup, earlier ones ~240-260hp

No daddy doesnt pay for anything. I bought my car when i was 16. All the money i put into it coumes from my pocket. Thats why i work 2 jobs and when i want to go racing that comes out of my pocket. The camaro has a 565 with 1 fogger running a 7.90 at 172 and the mustang has a 406 sbc with 2 foggers. and no daddy doesnt spend his money on any of my stuff. Again thats why i work 2 jobs. what the fuck are you talking about have you ever owned a vr4 asshole i had a 92 and a 98 vr4 the 92 stock was 13.3 in the 1/4 mile with atop speed of 161mph and thats a 4000# car with a 3.0 v6 after larger turbos a chip hks dragger exaust bigger intercooler the top speed was 192mph and ran 11;00 all day and all wheel drive means dropping the clutch @ 7000rpm leaps to 40mph in around 1 second nobody would ever take me out of the whole grow the fuck up and do your homework

A V8 is fast but it's inefficient when you gas it, in order to get that 29mpg you'll need to be nice with the throttle and never floor it, The 3800 in question is a lighter engine with better mechanical efficiency, but it will never be a platform for drag, it'd be nice but really it's just not made for that, on the other hand it's prime for high speed maneuvering making it an optimal choice for auto cross, check out the concept behind lotus cars lighter = less stress on the entire vehicle

Well acceleration is what its all about. Idk about you, but i usually dont go above 100mph. But i do street races at stop lights and on lonely strecthes of road. Im just saying, youre more likey to floor it until you get to about 80-100ish than going something ridiculous like 180. So being fast in the long run isnt worth much unless youre doing like a 2 mile race.
