Hey dud did You say you were feeding the snake 10 mice and one large rat? If so that is called power feeding it and it will shorten the life of the snake. 1 Large rat a week is plenty to feed it. I have a female red tail boa and she is 6' 6" and she is almost 2 years old. You are feeding that snake way too much at one time!!!!
@badassrott You have no idea what you are talking about. The weight of the boa was 30 lbs at the time and 10 mice + 1 xlg rat = to less than 2lbs. Large snakes like that are normly fed 3-4 pound rabbits oonce a month.
Joboa i am curious as to why you feed your snakes in a separate box or tray....i've seen other videos where the owner does this too. I used to have two Royal Pythons and just chucked the live mice in the tank and it was fine, but that was a long time ago...maybe things have changed. I have now got a baby boa and have been doing as i did before....chucking the food in the tank....he doesn't seem to mind, but is a feeding box/tray necessary?
@JaenAlbatros It's a good practice to use a feeding box because over time the snake becomes " Classically conditioned " (look this term up on wikipedia if you not sure what it means, I just don't have the space to explain it here ). Thus feeding response is induced by placing the snake in the feeding box where there is residual food scent. Feeding your snake in it's cage conditions it to associate objects entering the cage with food and you risk being bitten if the snake is hungry.
@J0Boa Ahh, I see....that is a very good point...I guess I was lucky in the past, as my pythons never struck at me, but then again, I did just tip the mice in from the box that I had just brought from the pet shop, coz I really could not handle live mice, yuk! Snakes are infinitely more preferable to handle! lol.
I will devise a feeding box in time for the next feeding and will also look up the term you mention as no, i have not heard of it before.
I have a female boa and she is so kind. Not being nasty but i think u r scared of the snake and that is why he bits. I show mine who is the boss. I feed my dead rat and i DO NOT strike feed her because it makes them more nasty. Also even if she goes for the glass i grab her out and slap her across the face to tell her it is wrong what she has done. Also to much heat makes them nasty too. My snake knows right from wrong.
@gayproud1 Based on your comment I can infer that you are a complete idiot ! I'm really concerned for the wellbeing of your snakes. Do more research or let someone else more competent take care of them !
@J0Boa Seems to me u like ur snake to walk over u and good luck, because if u r soft then one day u will be her/his food. My snake don't fuck with me!
@gayproud1 You slap your snake across the face???? Omg, that is cruel!! You should NEVER hit animals! I hope somebody that knows you reports you to the RSPCA!
Serves you right for getting bit. I hope the thing attacks you one day and leaves you seriously injured then maybe you will wake up and realise how dangerous and evil these animals are!
@simmick1 wow.... your a fucking retard. red tails are one of the most docile of all boas ive had mine since she was just a baby. she is now 6 1/2' and i have had her for 4 years and never once has she even hissed at me let alone struck at me. way to be stereotypical.
@simmick1 how are they evil? for what? without them rats and mice would over produce, ruin crops and spread disease. they fulfil a role on the planet. they are part of the tao, the yin in yin and yang, or, if your a christian, then you should have learned that everything comes from god, and you should love it.
@terminator101985858 Snakes are truely amazing animals afterall they are living dinosaurs.I'm sure that when you get older you'll be able to hava a snake. Thanks for your comment and please subscribe to my channel and stay tuned for more snake videos.
@RhysScfc easy, I make sure my hands don't smell like food then I pull slightly on his tail (making sure I'm out of his reach). He doesn't like his tail pulled and tries to get out of the box and run away. At that moment I can pick him up as I normaly do, he'll climb on me and I take him to his cage.
@J0Boa well i also have a red tail... its a good idea to get a bin that they fit into its a lot safer for you and your snake... it looks like your snakes is almost about to fall onto the ground at times
@missjustinbieber1011 I'LL FEED YOU TO MY BOA JUSTIN BIEBER AND I'LL BE DOING THE WORLD A BIG FAVOR ! OOps I forgot, my boa does not eat disgusting little maggots
are you sure that the snake isn,t a female. it looks big for a male. 2 years old and already 6 feet. my female boa constrictor is 1 or 1 1/2 years old and 4 feet on large rats.
J0boa, is this snake unusually fast? I've seen a lot of videos and this snake seems to strike and coil a lot faster than other snakes his breed and age.
I think boas are fast strikers in general, but I agree with you, he seems to be faster than most captive boas. In my opinion, that is due to the fact that he was raised entirely on live pray and for the past few years I've been feeding him frozen-thawed with an occasional live feeders to maintain his hunting behaviour and of course to provide him with vitamins.
Yeah, I was jokin. This actually reminds me of a video I saw on here of some total dumbass who kept a bucket of mice right next to his hungry snake's cage. It would try to attack the glass (potentially injuring itself!), and this idiot is like "Check out my angry snake heheheheheh."
Hey man, beautiful Boa, im getting a true red tail soon, but first an albino burmese. I feed my snakes live rats, not frozen, even though most of the times not recommended, these animals were born killing machines, and need the thrill of the hunt to stay mentally healthy.
Joboa looks really strong and healthy, great snake, great job!
Thanks dude, I have an albino burmese python as well. They have completely different behaviours from the boas. They are great snakes but require a lot more attention and care compared to boas.
you should just feed it 2-3 rats. saves time and mice are like junk food. not to much nutrition from mice
