@PeGeProd but how can i learn it if everything that i clcik gives me an error that something is missing, then finnaly ae crashes, i tought the whole thing was there...
anyway, i watched your burn tutorial, and now i know, that was awesome.
This is extremely good, the only thing I would remove is the sparks at the steel, even if you were cutting, the steel would melt downward, not spark, so if they are sparks, make them flying downward, and have some melting steel spreading down.
how do u do dat i am making a starwars series and im tring to learn how to do eveything i need to no. ur vids r a great help. please tell me how to do dat. Ill be sure to add ur name to credits
Thanks Dude, Very nice tutorial and great effect, if u key framed the evolution of the burn marks fractal noise it makes for a nice smoldering lava type effect
Hey man i need some help, i watched your tutorial on melting the wall with the saber and i tried a similar thing but draging it on the grouand. I am having some trouble getting the color to look like yours, also, i cant quite get the melting right. The video moves forward away from the camera, sort of like in 3 dimensions, so it is a bit hardr then i thought to pull it off. If you have any tips, or would like to see what im talking about. I would gladly see you the file. Any help would be cool
Well, you'll need to make the (3-dimensional) layer with the burnmark on it matchmove the camera's movement. In this video, I did it using AE's built-in motion tracker.
The color of the burn should go well together with the material of the ground.
A bad workman always blames his tools... Haha just kidding, I know where you're coming from!
Another thing to critique...
The angle of the burn seems to be off. Also, you need to add distortions/displacement maps for where each new metal slab is! You can see some are poking out slightly more then others are.
Sounds like a geiger counter was used for the saber to metal protrusion.
It's a good thing you did send me this vid too because my friend recently acquired After Effects and he's a Video Copilot head so we're going to have a field day.
nice keep it up!!!

It's really good up until the end. You can see the "burn mark" moving out of sync with the camera pan.

Nice Work man...
where did you find that rare ignition sound?
fegrad0 3 years ago
I ripped it from the first Episode II-teaser that showed Yoda with a lightsaber. It's the ignition sound of Yoda's saber, of course.

cause i got it and i want to do that too ^_^

Yeah, this was done in After Effects. Among my other videos, there's a tutorial showing how to achieve a similar kind of effect in AE.

can you send me the project with the footage and sounds please? So that I can see the whole thing.

Sure, it will take me until tomorrow to get everything together, though.
PeGeProd 3 years ago
Wow, nice work Peter! I can see a few tiny little tracking errors, but otherwise it's awesome!
Keep in mind that you're cutting wood, not metal here =P
BenMcEwan 3 years ago
It's metal plates, not wood. =P
You could catch the tracking errors? Dammit. You're good. XD
However, blame AE's tracker for it. O=)
