It depends on the audience or the level of understanding of the person. You don't need to start off by using terms like "zionism" when trying to educate newcomers to the Israel/Palestine conflict. But eventually, people should come to the rational historical understanding of how zionism evolved and how not all zionists agreed on policy towards Palestinians (e.g. remember what Noam Chomsky calls himself).
I agree though, we use the word "zionism" too much.

You have to remember that most Zionists in the USA are Christian dispensationalists on the right-wing. Organisations like CUFI are very powerful and have a lot of influence. Also, Joe Biden (who is not Jewish) stated "I am a zionist, you don't have to be Jewish to be a zionist". Also, Rupert Murdoch (who owns Fox News) is not Jewish. I think both sides are in the wrong! I am sick of the games in the middle east. However the peaceful protesters were violent and that destroy's the whole point of a peace mission. I live in America and i work with Moslem's and they are mostly friendly to me but I do not care for the overly religious, they are not friendly.
