  • Great video. I agree. I think anybody can find the answers they want to find just be looking into themselves. But sometimes help is needed in order to be able to do that. I'm actually thinking about looking into a psychologist. But anyway, about the medication, I think it is a great thing, so long as the person taking them realizes that they are only to assist rather than to actually cure. But I totally agree everybody feels the way they do based on their life experiences up to that point.

  • veganicwitch, great video, with alot of good personal insights. although as for people born with depression, well, you are looking at one (or rather reading his comment). I've been born very lucky, good family, friends, no abuse, no poverty, no identity issues, and yet for as long as i can remember ive been anxious and depressed. Luckily for me i have a doctor who delves seriously into my issues, and prescribes the minimum of drugs, and worked to find what was right for my particular problem.

  • Thank you :) Like I said, there are some people who have physical problems, just like you could have an illness in any other part of your body. I'm so glad you were able to get the help you needed to be happy :D

  • thankful, and despite my own experiences, i agree almost entirely with your video. People need to see the whole picture. In addition to medication, i had to change diet, excercise, and see a councillor. And while the medication is the primary factor in my own wellbeing, i know that the other three elements, or rather the lack of them were a factor in making my condition far worse.

  • Yeah, true, those things had a huge impact on my wellbeing too. Too many people don't make the link, like I have a friend who was eating only icecream and Coke and was REALLY depressed. When I told her that could be having an impact on her mental state she was not completely sold on the idea LOL

  • absolutely, very soon after ditching the sugary drinks, and drinking Water for a change, i noticed a big improvement on my energy levels, which in turn made me get out more, which made me feel even better etc etc etc. While i myself heartily recommend medication for people like myself, i agree completely with you that alternatives, and Causes must be fully considered beforehand.

  • Thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate it! :)

  • farmaceutical inustry s.. an industry. one doesnt need to say anything else about what that means in a capitalist society.

and yeah..it feels we´re living in a dystopian cyberpunkysh society (without the goodies :P) , 1984, brave new world.. growing up, evolving, feeling, all the good part of being human are getting to much artificial. even fucking! lol unless it is to bring to the world another poluting-exploited-consumer-soldier. thats ok. praise the lord.

  • Hells yeah!! You rock mistress pav :)

  • lol I´ve got to stop seeing your videos, seing a bunch now in a row I havent yet and cant stop! great subjects, great views! O_O I´ll overdose!! lol

  • *giggle*

  • #2 example: I had a boss that was notorious for her cruel behavior. She told everyone she was manic depressive and on meds. So, after she would abuse she would apologize and blame her mental illness. Now, if she was on meds it clearly did not help her. I believe she may have used this an an excuse to abuse others. No doubt she had anger issues, but whatever medical attention she was recieving was not working. Medicine is no good if it doesn't fit the actual problem.

    Very thought provoking.

  • Thank you! I'm really glad you went to a 2nd doctor and resolved the underlying issue :)

  • The psychology among people is such a twisted and complicated labyrinth. It really must be assessed carefully and individually. The medical industry is out of touch with humanity in this way. Two examples for you:#1. I had a rapid heart beat. Dr. told me I had anxiety disorder. Tried to prescribe drugs. Two years later I had heart surgery because it was indeed a physical problem. I knew it had nothing to do with stress. I went through more than 1 Dr. until I found one who did a thorough exam.

  • Very insightful as always Jessamine. Great Vid.

  • Thank you! :)

  • So much I want to say in reply but YouTube comments are so short. I agree with what you're saying for the most part but have found my own experiences to be an exception. I probably wouldn't even still be here for the past two years without having seen a doctor and gotten medication for anxiety and depression.

I should really make a video reply some time to explain myself properly. Urgh, being on video. :(

  • Hey there, I said several times that some people may need this kind of assistence. My main issue is that the environmental causes of these issues are not considered and that psych drugs are over prescribed by doctors. Please don't take this as any kind of criticism or anything like that, everyones circumstances are different :)

  • No criticism assumed. ;) It's very true that a lot of doctors just prescribe psychiatric drugs without even doing a rudimentary check of what could be causing the problem in the patient.

Some doctors are a lot better than others though. My GP asked me about things like substance use and recommended me to a psychiatrist and later psychologist, while offering me the choice to try medication as well if I wished.

Sadly, doctors like this are often an exception.

  • Ohhhh good, its hard to tell some of these things from text comments. I'm glad you have a good doctor who gave you all the options, they do exist, they just seem to be few and far between.

  • You're such a wonderful and caring person hon. I so wish we lived closer together! /big hug

  • Me too sweety *sigh*

  • Very true :) Your intelligence never stop to amaze me Jess :) I myself as transsexual girl was most depressed at the age of 13 and 14 because it was then puberty took me the hardest and testosterone changed me fast and I mean fast and I hated all the changes that came send my hatred for my body got higher and higher and I started to see more and more stranger in the mirror it was not a good time in my life. And I felt extremely powerless about it, It felt like curse trough me.

    Love Jasmine

  • This is exactly the kind of thing I am talking about; there was a real reason for the way you felt, you had to go through an internal process to overcome it. A doctor could have just prescribed you with drugs but that wouldn't have addressed the real problem, just numbed you to it :)
