Had it on double vinyl. Seriously underrated album (see Allmusic). Bought it the day it came out; loved Bill Nelson's guitar in particular; it still holds up now (the double vinyl is still in my dad's attic!)
Hmm, didn´t know this one. But fact is, that most of his stuff feels really good. Gives me the impression to be happening somewhere inside myself. Like is was part of my own music. If there is a music I would admit to love, then it would be his.
So, thx 4 posting, thx yt for "leading" me to this video. And showing me another part of my musical soul...
I bought the CASSETTE of "Gone to Earth" quite a few years ago and always loved this piece. I feel like a could glide off a mountain side and float on the wind..it envokes that kind of feeling for me.....freedom
only slyvian could make music like this while off his tits on schnitz (he admitted it in an interview). if any mortal did the same they would sound like the prodigy, but david a makes gentle, melodic masterpiece. i think he is fuckin fantastic.
Superb lyracist, musician and vocalist. I have followed sylvian since 1984, been to concerts etc. He is highly respected amongst fellow musicians. This piece is just a perfect example of his work. He is just about producing beautiful music and not the comercial side which is quite something in this age of comercialism. His music speaks for him, truly inspirational, thanks david
the best album of David, a fantastic musical experience: sound, silence, spaces. The best cd of ever. I hear Gone to Earth from 24 years!!! Thank you David, thank you PereMarquette for this video.
I wonder why YouTube keeps on recommending Phillip Glass whenever a Sylvian song is played?? Seriously strange.

@hub1971 I agree Dude but I say The Prodigy have their place .... try "pandemonium" or "the Omen"...... anyway I like them and Sylvian`s music.

Oops. I just removed someone's comment instead of replying -- Doh! *smacks forehead*
I first saw this video once on MTV back around '87, probably on 120 Minutes. I think it was after SOTBH was released.

Only one comment. Shame, that. Because w/every passing year this man just gets better and better.
He's aging like fine winr.
And he's still quite young here!

A pity some people find his songs and sound boring, they just don't catch the drift...

Yes, allthough hearing "Taking the Veil" had rather the effect of riptide on me while hearing David's solo work for the first time :)
