Yes, they complement each other very well. Similar to Benson playing with Earl Klugh. Nobody can compete with Benson - you try that and you will get cut and humiliated - but Santana played in his own style and together they sounded great.

You will sometimes here Carlos throw in some George Benson in some of his musik when playing. He's just having fun and a way to recognize those that mean something to him. Just listen to Carlos' "live" performances. You'll hear what I'm speaking of. No competition here, just them having fun.

The fact is that Carlos Santana is trying. He knows and realizes that he does not have the bag of tricks that George Benson has but he's giving it his best shot. Rather than sounding pathetic and playing chords only, he's trying his best to add a bit of "salsa spice" to this otherwize ghetto/smooth jazz classic. Hes trying to get a bit of "sex and sangria" into this otherwize mellow and retiring relaxation themed song. Good on him for trying.

It is a great song, and even if Santana does get a bit fast where he misses a few notes which i noticed he did,it was still not a speed race. Obviously it was a Benson show, and he invited Santana to sit in. It was a little shaky, neither man was on his best form. But it remains interesting as an historical piece (of course, they're both still alive and could still collaborate--maybe they should). I think Santana should've crafted a workable piece ahead of time, since the changes are similar enough to Samba Pa Ti. But no, it wasn't a head-cutting contest, you could tell that much. Two guitar greats respecting one another.

And when the likes of drummer Michael Shrieve wwas there to challenge (and edit him). There's a clip on YouTube of him doing 'What is Hip' with Tower of Power. Sorry, but Carlos blows with excess. And that seems to be a key problem: He's overbearing. He should revisit his heroes Peter Green and BB King!

Good lord. That was easily the worst rendition of Breezin' I have ever heard. Why is everyone here sucking Carlos Santana's pentatonic cock? 1:38-2:35 was perhaps the least tasteful piece of guitar playing I had ever seen, until he goes and tops himself from 3:45 onwards. Even BENSON was off form - and I think Benson is a GOD AMONG MEN. Maybe he was just put off by the god-awful Santan-age. I mean, honestly people, do you have ears?
