Best things have already happened in entertainment and one of them we are just watching on you tube right this moment. YES, Gene Kelly was A STAR, and he remains an eternal legend. I am so glad that I have brains to see the best of art and entertainment (which goes hand in hand acctually), unlike the morons that just take what they´re given and go through life not knowing that magic exists.

@EmmoF2 Even the so called Good dancers of today like George Sampson don't measure up to Gene Kelly's Talent 'cause Gene is perfect and has so much soul. They don't make those types anymore. Its also silly to compare him to pop stars. Bieber, Cyrus are only required to be mediocre but their job is to be iconic and sell out concerts and albums using their looks and charisma. Its a given that Gene is more talented!

Completly agree, but though Gene Kelly is an enoumously talented guy I have to go with Donald O'Connor more. O'Connor I feel is a better actor. He doesn't rely on being a ham bone like Kelly does. He can sing, dance, act, make us laugh and do it all without being fake. As much as I love Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor takes the cake. He plays Cosmo Brown in Singing in the Rain BTW.

Kelly was more like a Drama actor. Still both were entertaining. Anyways, I was just addressing the people who keep mentioning today's celebs and comparing them with legends like Kelly, I felt it was pointless and they are only trying to look "smart" on the internet.:)

Its just the dancing part where I feel Gene dances a bit more free and really looks effortless and natural. While Conners is a tap dancing god , he dances a bit too professional , sticking with the books too much,and maybe a bit too speedy e.t.c. He had a style of his own and he is the one that made way for bboy/street dancing. I would still say Genes the better dancer.

@BrithishIsBetter639 Fred Astaire! He dances with so much more elegance than Kelly but at the same time, he can adapt to other styles easily. They still have really contrasting styles so its probably just a matter of taste to pick one over the other. Fair comparison could be Astaire vs Nureyev.

This is amazing, what's makes Gene in my opinion one of the best dancers who have ever lived is not because of what he can do, it's how he does it. I have never seen another dancer as animated and controlled as he was. It doesn't even look like he thinking about what he is doing, I really admire his ability to perform like that with no signs of hesitation or focus
