"The problems that the show encountered werent standalone versus mythology. Basically the show didnt really get off the ground because the network pretty much wanted to back away from the concept five minutes after they bought it and then ultimately, the show itself is also kind of odd and difficult to market. I actually think they did a good job, but its just not a slam-dunk concept....."
oh come on guys, as devastated as I am to know dollhouse is finishing you cant really blame fox for this one. despite less people watching this than firefly they gave it a second season AND are keeping their promise to show all the remaining episodes despite the low viewing figure.
While you are correct with all of your facts, it's still hard not to blame Fox. In a recent interview with Joss, he revealed that Fox has actually had their hands in the cookie jar for the whole show's run and not just the first six episodes like we were led to believe last season. It sounded like Joss' vision for the show was something very different from anything we've seen so far.
I still love his work, but I sure miss his humility. On the other hand, he has no reason to feel humble these days, and he'd probably come across even worse trying to pretend he wasn't a phenomenon. As far as looks go, it's a fact that no decent, mature director is sexually attractive. I forget the math exactly, but I think that it has something to do with thermodynamics.
first Firefly, then The Sarah Connor Chronicles, now Dollhouse. FOX, you never fail in canceling your best shows. just one huge mistake after another.
Yeah I know, right? This season has totally rocked! I'm glad they seem to be revving up to show us ALL the remaining episodes & I'm sure the DVD set will still be good, but honestly, DH & Chuck were the only 2 shows I really cared about being back this season. :\
What's funny is that when people were telling me it would be Another Firefly, I told them, "At least Fox gives awesomely weird shows a start!"...now I'm going to be reluctant to give them my heart again. :( Shoulda been on FX channel!
I'll be sad to see Dollhouse end. =[
