This is just a great video, nothing against bobybuilders, they are not athletes after all, this guy might aswell be Jay Cutler or Ronnie Coleman doesnt make difference,Valery has real functional strength/endurance,I have much more respect to a natural athlete such as Valery, all hard work and dedication that pays off unlike when you get fast results with roids, look at those guys that stopped doing roids, they look awful
This guy seriously can't even perform a proper clean? This is why it is critical to learn proper form and technique and not just mindlessly throw weight around in the gym.
its not that the bodybuilder isnt strong, its just that bodybuilders use a different training method in their sport. bodybuilders use isolation training for developing muscle while doing kettlebell training uses more of the body and more muscles to do the lifts...kettlebells tie in the muscles together and it trains the muscles to work together which makes the body more functional. kettlebells also work stabilizer or balancing muscles so its better for funcional strenth.
Bodybuilders cannot run, punch, jump or virtually do anything. You can hear them in the gym talking ' today we are doing leg, chest, arm' and all that rubbish. The fitness legacy of last 20th century is useless. You should do weights, but they have to be mangeable and incorporated in a form of circuit and also done in supersets. Functional training is the way to go. In daily life grind you don't lie on a bench and push 8 plates! And once you have big chest and biceps, you cannot do shit!
@jukcoder Depends what your goals are though bro, bodybuilders train purely to look good, nothing else. You can't really judge the for not being able to swing a heavy bell, or throw massive weights over their heads because that is not what they train for. Bodybuilders train for aesthetics, pure and simple
@jalidav1 actually bodybuilders train by isolating and seperating each muscle group into individual exorsizes. lifting a kettlebell is very contrary to their lifting techniques which is why its harder for them. kettlebells arent isolated exorsizes and kettlebell lifts are meant to tie in muscle groups together by getting them used to working together...in laymens terms more than one muscle group is used for kettlebell lifting unlike isolattion training bodybuilders use.
@dirtyjew1974 why did you feel the need to give me that tutorial without addressing the point I made? the point is everybody has different reasons to train, so while bodybuilders aren't very functional, it doesn't matter so much to them because their goals don't involve them being functional, they train to look good. It isn't kettlebells that tie in the muscle groups, it is the specific lifts chosen, you can tie in muscle groups with barbells and dumbells too just by choosing lifts differently
actually i did adress what you said so i think you didnt read what i wrote carefully. you said bodybuilders train to look good and nothing more as if all they had was the look but not the strenth so i disagreed with that statement. bodybuilders are very strong but train in a comepletly manner than other athletes and by nature of the sport bodybuilders do normally do isolated lifts because bodybuilding looks at specifics so they train in specifics while kettlebell training dont us isolation atall
@dirtyjew1974 Well if that is indeed what you were trying to say then you were wrong, yes bodybuilders are stronger than the average guy who doesn't work out, of course they are. But to call them strong is exaggerating, especially when you consider the likes of the people who train for strength, for instance there are some powerlifters benchpressing over a 1000lb now, the reason they isolate is simply to build muscle and create a look, any other type of trained athlete is far more functional
@jalidav1 well indeed i wasnt wrong actually and i never said bodybuilders were stronger than power lifters or the average guy...thats what you were assuming. what i said was that bodybuilders were strong and guess what, they are. ever see a 260lber who can only curle a 50lb barbell? me either. of course power lifters are stronger than bodybuilders, of course bodybuilders are stronger than the average guy, that goes without to say. you sure dont read carefully and stop making stupid assumptions
Yep - technique is everything, and as said previously having "useable" muscles, not just Beach muscles. these big guys on the roids cant live with kettle bell athletes either , because they have no endurance.
Yep - techniwue is everything, and as said previously having "useable" muscles, not just Beach muscles. these big guys on the roids cant live with kettle bell athletes either , because they have no endurance.
lol this cunt is hopless hahahhahahah couldnt even CLEAN the kettlebell safely let alone press it out, then valery steps in and fucking annihilates him bahahah 11 reps, the other guy couldnt even do 1 partial!! lol lol.....................i like how he cant lift it the second time and he figures it must be cause i dont have any chalk on my hands......yeh chalks gonna make him lift it hhahaha RUSSIANS RULE!!!
@12meor I'm an advocate of KBs myself but in this guy's defense, regardless of his poor (not to mention scary dangerous) technique, he still shows strength by being able to still "clean" a 132lbs to his shoulders from the ground. Yeah, he's still stuck in the "use my shoulder muscle only" mentality but if he was shown the basic technique and still couldn't do it then, yes, that would prove he has no applicable strength and is useless muscle bound. I laughed at the chalk part too! My 2cents...
@MetaRoland actually its more because the kettlebell works everything rather than a few muscle groups like that muscley guy obviously does when working out and building muscle
bloated muscles don't really give much power, for example.. what's he gonna do in a fight with someone? is he gonna curl them to death?
i can lift 110 pounds to the length of my arm over my head if its not strength try it. but it is true the larger bodybuilder is most likely stronger because of his weight but if you can't do it then you are not strong ask any competitor in any sport.
... i meant that a larger muscle isnt necessarily a stronger muscle. strength comes from a muscles efficiency to contract... a large muscle that contracts at 25% is going to be pound for pound weaker than a smaller muscle contracting at 40%. thats why in most kettlbell sport we see the guys that lift real heavy arent huge bodybuilder types.
Valery's jerks (watched a lot of them) always seem like he doesn't fully lockout the arm. Maybe it's the angle. Also, does the head have to be through for it to count as good?
Val is jerking it, still very hard. The big guy is trying to press it with no help from the legs and hips making it virtually impossible. Two very different techniques hence two different outcomes!
Well he tried to jerk it but he didn't know good technique. This might be common sense but I say it anyhow: one arm jerk is a kind of movement that if you haven't practised it you won't jerk much more than you can press. These guys who filmed this probably hadn't trained one arm lifts but were just generally strong.
Strength is a skill. One arm pressing a dumbbell and OAP with a Kettlebell are simply different skills. What would be interesting is to see if that same guy that failed could one arm press the equivalent weight in a dumbbell. He'd probably get a lot closer. Im 160lb and work with KBs. I can OAP the 79lb Kettlebell but can't OAP the 70lb dumbell (yet). Different stabilizers involved.
It is a skill. His starting position was very much off. With better instruction he will be able to do that "easily". At least the technique, a 60kg press is VERY impressive even for a strongman.
pretty sure that is BJ Barabas and he's a pro lightweight strongman. Look him up on here. Him not being able to press it has nothing to do with him being "weak." He just didn't know the technique. All of you need to get a clue
@williamiscrazy its not that bodybuilders are weak, they just train differently. bodybuilders train using isolated exorsizes and us slower movements so the stablizer muscles arent worked very much as with exorsizes with kettlevells. using kettle bells requires faster and more explosive movements so using kettlebells sorta like the plyometrics version of weight lifting. odds are the kettle bell lifter couldnt lift as much on a bench press or squat because of the same reasons, differnent training
Amazing what technique proves!!! Good job Val!!!

This is a great example of how important technique is in performing the lifts.
Valery is impressive!
The strongman's form was completely off and had he properly trained for a few months he would probably smoke this lift.
It is mentioned in the video and is true that having huge shoulders could hinder the proper placement and movement, very revealing video.
