  • hmm..i'm pretty sure in the beginning that first sustained note is on an off-16th note, whereas here it's off an 8th..I remember disputing it with my conductor when we did it. interesante :-)

  • I'm a sophomore, doing piccolo on this piece in our Wind Ensemble. Thanks for putting this up so I could hear what it's supposed to sound like! Haha

  • yess!!! ready to play it now!

  • We're playing this song for the second time in my band in high school and we came to the conclusion that, since this is based off of his daughter, she must have been psychotic. XD We don't mean it in a mean way, but listen to it! It's so crazy! One of the best pieces ever written!

  • makes me sad that you don't have the percussion for the part around 1:40...the cymbal sweeps :c

  • We on;y had three percussionists in Wind Ensemble when we performed this. XP

  • Aww, no love for Niles? I remember doing this piece for my HS marching band about 6 years ago. We did this piece along with Havendance and some random slow piece, but i never had an opportunity to play the full concert piece. My university wind ensemble might be planning to play it though, can't wait! xD And very well played for a high school group (although it sounded like certain sections didn't practice their runs quite enough...>w>) Which instrument did you play for this piece?

  • this is such a fun song. Holsinger really knows when he has writen a good piece about his children dancing. this is a good recording. btw... what does PCEP stand for? is this the one in Michigan?

  • @snowy5599 PCEP Stands for Plymouth Canton Educational Park. And yes, it is the highschool campus thing in michigan.

  • Gosh, the 1st Bb clarinet part on this is the devil... still an amazing song. Y'all did a good job.

  • And all along I thought I had a terrible tone on Bari Sax. Turns out my tone is awesome! =D

  • i love it:)

our wind ensemble played it in our feb. valentines day concert. and it was my favorite piece to play!!

  • Wow, the tempo is very fast. I dont think we did this piece that fast. The repitition gets to be a little pain though. -.- but its still fun. its very blended nicely. Good job!

  • LOVE IT

  • I completely forgot we played this piece. It was a pain in the but to tongue all the things.

  • This song's ok, but I like Havendance better.

Very well played, though. Better than my school could do. lol

  • it was good. by no means an easy piece, but later sections seemed to lack a little bass. felt kind of empty. good recording though

  • Wow, this is very well played. My band is playing this so I know how difficult it is.

  • nice job, my schools wind ensemble is playin this for our feb. concert.

and my director put me on lead trumpet...im a sophomore....im scared. lol idk if i have the endurance for it. but it looks and sounds like a very fun peice

  • i'm sure you'll do fine. :D
