Hitler took an ancient Sanskrit symbol that was used by many different cultures as a symbol for love, power, strength and good luck, and then he moved it from its original position, turning it to the right, so that it now sat on one of arms at a point, in order for it to convey the message of the National Socialists. The fact that it was tilted, changed it completely, and it therefore no longer really had an association with the old symbol.
