yeah, but lets not forget also that VHS has won because it went cheaper early for that time. Now if Sony don't go to the cheap way, it will have only shot them self in the foot for the second time.

It takes only 1 or 2 great box office to turn a small producer onto becoming a serious rival, and when big producer starts looking behind, its too late, and they start wasting big money producing flopps imitations in trying to get an award that they can't have,unless they buy it.

True I did'nt like it when CD's came and I still use Tapes untill 1999 LMAO true though. I did'nt even have a computer untill 2001. the same time I switch to DVD But I still love making my videos on VHS. I still use Mini VHS to record my video but put them on DVD's now cause DVD's are cheap.

did you hear about the faulty video editing studio batch where sony had to pay out 2million for repair. Sony used to be good when it had the beta max a much better choice but as you see with this generation bribing is used to secure the position of a format and if it stays or not.Also i have 2 hi def players and they're better then any blu ray of the same price.

Have a look at call of duty 4 for online play its top dog at the moment. I have a Blu-Ray/HDDVD Player (do Both) and i MEAN it, the HDDVD Image are simply nicer, i have bought Beowulf on HDDVD and watched it, nice graphs, really realistic, i rented it on Blu-Ray on Blu-Ray Release... sorry but the HDDVD one were nicer, stronger colors and more realictic graphics, sounds (5.1) were nicer on HDDVD. However the Blu-Ray were faster on loadings.

Well. Before I made my decision I had to ask myself which format has the majority of movies I want? Once I found out which one it was I picked the player. I got the PS3 after reading about it in home theater magazine and now I have 52 Blu-Ray movies and counting! I wont buy anything from studios that support HD-DVD. They have already lost and are to short sighted to see it!

I hate the fact that if I buy a bluray disc title and want to take some where for a trip or a friends, I have to either have a portable bluray player (i wonder what that will cost) or buy the SD version. This whole updating and profiling, I just feel sorry right now for people that want full benefits of their bluray player but bought a current bluray player.

Warner chose bluray cause of payoff, jut like paramount with HD-DVD. In fact, I am willing to bet that warner was given the equipment to produce the disc. Besides, there are too many issues when it comes to interactive features. I know a production supervisor for a company that does both formats, and he says Bluray is the most difficult disc to produce for movies.

What was the top 10 movie that came out on High Def in 07. and what format had the most movies sold. Blu Ray Spider Man 3, Pirate 3, The Simpsons Movie, Wild Hogs, Ratatouille, 5 exclusive from Blu and 3 movies exclusive from HD and 2 movies were on both format do the math.

Actually, HD-DVD outsold Bluray in the fourth quarter. Most of the Bluray titles that were moving were the ones offered instantly at the time of purchase. Besides most of Bluray titles that were sold when Bluray players came out were b/c of the PS3. Good tactic by Sony. Toshiba was offering 3 instantly, 2 in the box and 5 by mail: which there selection was better in HD than Bluray.

the problem is that hddvd and blu ray players upscale dvds as well. so you go with the company that has the most titles you like and buy the other titles in dvd or wait until one has a advantage. i clearly go blu ray. hddvd titles are far too few.

Spiderman 3 and Pirates 3 looked like crap in Bluray, compared to the Bourne series and Transformers. Even better, the Harry Potter series looked better in HD than it did in Bluray. Bluray does have titles that look amazing: Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, Resident Evil, Superman Returns(looked a lil better in Bluray), 300 (did look better in Bluray).

OK, 1) watched on the same tv. 2) shouldn't have to make any adjustments to settings b/c if I took both discs and made no alterations to either player then its apples to apples comparison. 3)I know they don't touch there settings in an electronic store b/c I work at one.

4) it maybe a failing format right now but being it does have price points that bluray doesn't and that bluray hasn't come up with a gameplan with versatility (still have to buy a second disc in SD to play at a friends or a portable player) I will be happy to go blu. 5) Spiderman 3 had crappy CG work, compared to Transformers. And Pirates 3 I wasn't impressed at all in Bluray, the other two were good but the 3rd was as good. One could argue it was the player or the studio.

But for right now, I will be happy to enjoy the movies that are better in HD, if there is a movie in Blu that is worth it, I'll just get the SD version. BTW, what's up with the last Rush Hour movie requiring two disc for a format that has the capability to fit on one. Fair enough! But while you're "considering", Blu-Ray movies are outselling HD-DVD by 3 to 1at the moment and it's likely to increase over time. 80% of PS3 owners dont know they have a built-in HD movie player! When those teeny-boppers do it's game over for HD-DVD!

I purchased a HD-DVD player first. From my point of view, HD-DVD was more affordable and more of the movies I watched. Now as far as features go, Bluray may have more space but that is irrelevant if the entire movie is only 30 gigs. Besides, as soon as Bluray comes up with a formula to smash the advantages of HD-DVD (combo discs and ethernet ports). This whole thing with profile players is ridiculous and one of the reasons why I didn't go blu.

It will probably be Universal that leaves first and Paramount will leave soon after.
