Interesting that he says Gekko went to jail, since that was never explicitly stated in the movie. Buddy was the only one that definitely went to prison.
Only that Gekko would be arrested, not that he'd necessarily go to prison. With his wealth he could, for example, hire a huge team of lawyers to get his case dismissed on a technicality or get him acquitted (maybe bribing jurors). Maybe I'm thinking too much into this. XD
The best lawyer in the world won't get you acquitted after a confession, and in that situation none of the defences (duress, insanity, etc) are going to save you. Trust me, I'm a lawyer :P
It is not allowed to record someone's voice without his prior consent. It is therefore illegally obtained evidence and cannot be used in court, as we all have learned from Carlito's Way, so maybe Gordon should get Kleinfeld as a lawyer ;-).
I'd tend to agree with that. Isn't there the 'poisoned fruit' doctrine in the US, so what was improperly begot (i.e. the wiretap) cannot be used in court? Besides, a lot of the stuff that Gekko did in the movie arguably isn't even illegal.
PS That banker dude running the show in the law firm's boardrm has got to be the WORST actor alive. It was awful hearing his voice. LOL.
OIiver Stone in the dvd said that the guy was actually a major fraud, pretending to be in 'Nam, pretending to be a banker, etc etc etc. Of course, Stone didn't find out until after the movie was out. It's obvious he's no actor, that's for sure, I agree w/ you there. ;)

Gekko inspired me to look at a career in Investment Banking - and I'm not drunk.
Seriously, though, Gekko did some stuff I don't fully approve of - but all in all, he was AWESOME!

By saying "I did go to jail" he admitted that he in fact IS Gordon Gecko :D.

The sequel that 20th Century Fox has in development centers around Gordon Gecko being released from prison.
Michael Douglas may also be talking about deleted scenes that he was in with Gecko going to jail.

It was implied after Bud recorded what amounted to a confession.

That banker dude wasn't an actor, he was actually a famous investment banker who made a lot of money doing precisely is role in the movie.

You might be right, could be construed as "fruit of the poisonous tree"...
I don't really know, it's strictly American, doesn't apply up here.
