Gah... Just saw this in my recommended and listening to this reminded me of the series.

Not as sad as Clannad in my head but god, still pulled at my heartstrings. I'm a sucker for dramatic comedies, especially when the endings just kind of make you sniffle a little.

@KingSoraOfKH I think this Anime is sadder than clannad ... don't get me wrong clannad was really freaking sad and an amazing anime but Angel beats actually made me cry... (the only anime to ever make me do that) ... and now I start to get choked up by listening to the ending theme or by watching anything from the final four episodes of Angel beats! ... btw clannad has a happy ending Clannad AS was really the emotional part of that series ... but It still ends up having a good ending (kinda)

@Rockreaper1255 (continued from above) meanwhile angel beats was never given an official ending unless you count the little scene after the ending credits which most ppl liked but thought it was way to vague ... which is why they made a 3 minute OVA which is an alternative ending (personally I liked the first one well enough) but no matter how you look at it most likely none of them ever meet in the next life (except otanashi and kanade also maybe hinata and yui) but that's just my opinion lol

@oxorgreat12 I've seen it already it and it was an amazing anime and one of my favorites also but it didn't make me cry it was way to bloody/gory for me to do anything to but sit there in awe. My favorite character is Nana ... about the ending (SPOILERS!!! DON"T READ AND COMPLAIN) the ending was kinda meh I mean I understand about lucy's little love arc but the very ending with the shadow and the cliffhanger ... not a big fan of that. (END SPOILERS) Other than the ending I loved Elfen Lied.

@Rockreaper1255 [SPOILER!] Well it was like this: Lucy made a promis to Kouta, that she'd never use her powers again, earlier on in the manga you get to discover that Luy weilds a greater power then we thought, ,she turns into teh Dicolius Queen and her horn gets really long and she looks like an elf, her vectors doesn't have a limited range and she's as much and indestructable but using her powers to much will cause her body to fall apart and melt.

@Rockreaper1255 Aftershe made her promis to Kouta and was about to go home she was attack by Nana's "dad" or rather, Mariko's dad, Kurama of wahtever his name was. She instingtly chops pf his hand right when Kouta arrives and Kouta say something in the line with "That easy… You couldn't even keep a promis, you lied to me… I hate you!" Kurama, who's still alive picks up his gun and tries to shoot lucy when she's in a total misery and crying, trying to explain to kouta what happend.

@Rockreaper1255 Kouta gets killed. Lucy rages and uses her power to bring him back thus overusing her powers and her body starts to melt, but not that she cares the slightest. When Kouta wakes up and finds Lucy, well what's left of her, the armed "police" arrives. They tell him to hand over Lucy which he'd wrapped in his coat. Lucy tells him he'd done way enough allready and that she'd handle it while he got out of there but he refuses to leave and tells her he'd stay by her side.

Lucy goes on a rampage and starts destroying the world, and she even blames what happends on Kouta and tries to kill him but the part of her and Nyu who's still alive inside her head gets in the way, making her unable to kill him. They tell him to kill her no matter what but he just cant do it and drops the gun to the ground. Lucy then takes strikes, it looks like!

He later on gets to meet her reincarnations in form of two miniature Lucy's which his daughter had befriended. and there it ends [END OF LONG FREAKIN MOTHER SPOILER!]
