I like this camera but it breaks easily and now they wont fix it so I fixed it myself but i broke the somehow slider fixing it so now its stuck on video :/ but the lense is dirty and has some marks on it. but new its a good camera the video files are saved in MPEG so you have to convert them for windows movie maker is the only annoying thing.

Hey this camera is really good for HD Videos but does anyone know how well it works for photos? I need a camera that will do great for photo as the SD1000. Has anyone had experience with both of this camera? I need some help, thanks.

it is amazing! id rather buy this then one of those hella crappy ass HD flips. at least you can change the mem card if you run out of mem. PLUS, it takes good pics. its a good camera with a pretty decent HD vid capture mode. NOT as good of HD as the acutal HD camcorders, but still waaaay better then all other cameras and mini hd camcorders like the flips.

and all for just 200, even under 200 in come places.. way worth the money!

I'm desperately and relentlessly trying to figure out what is the HIGHEST quality point and shoot camera for shooting videos? I'm a clarity/quality perfectionist as I would like to shoot lots of video with it. This is becoming a headache and was wondering if I should just go ahead and spend 600 bucks on the Canon vixia HF200 CAMCORDER...This is the kind of clarity I'm looking for in a POINT and shoot CAMERA...Can anyone please help?

no. memory cards are just for space. quality of pictures and videos relies on the actual camera.

Download "K-lite Codec pack" and Windows Media Player will play .mov files

Terrible advice. These pre-packaged codec packs end up littering windows with bunch of codecs that may end up interfering with others. Just d/l and install VLC player. The codecs are all self contained in the player. It'll play just about anything, including mov files and even youtube flv files.

What video editing program do u recommend for this camera? I've only been able to open video with VLC media player and not Windows media player...

if i'm correct it uses .mov files. you can use quicktime to play it. and final cut pro to edit (only on mac though) windows is too fuckin gay to support .mov files in their shitty editing program, so if you want to edit on your pc, probably use adobe premiere

Pretty much any video editing program that's not Windows Movie Maker will allow you to edit .mov. I use Sony Vegas now, and I used to use Adobe Premiere. Both can handle it.

Looks great. There's really no need for a separate HD video camera when you have this camera. Is the frame rate 30fps? Also is this camera made in Japan?

of course this camera is made from Japan. I'm pretty sure every cameras and camcorders is made in Japan. Yes it's 30fps, but i still prefer to use my Canon HV20 camcorder which produce true HD. this SD780 is only for when you are in need to record thing in HD without carry your big camcorder around.

quality looks good to me. I have seen some bad HD video BUT this is GREAT!!!!!.....And I bet it looks even better if you burn a copy directly to a Blu Ray disc & watched it in a Blu Ray player.....because everyone knows that youtube compresses a Great Deal....still this looks good.
