  • Sounds more like Sufjan Stevens music with Billy singing.

  • Hey Billy ! what are the chords you use? thanks XD

  • i love both the studio version and live, people need to stop bitching about both, you can always look this up live if you wanted to hear that version

  • Owata=\(^o^)/(everything ends)

    in Japan.

  • bummer

  • This song is just garbage. If you have seen the music video for this song, well its even worse. My judgement as an SP fan has been for consistent for the past 10 years since i discovered siamese dream and fell in love with this band. Now that Corgan is the last original member because of his dictator personality, its safe to say that SP is dead to me. Billy needs to get rid of the name "SP" because its not anymore. Go solo and call it Zwan again.

  • @geigercounter000 That's not a music video, it's a fan made short film, so blame the fan(s) who made the short film. I will agree that it's not the best video though.

  • @joshsnaptown1 i was looking on wikki about my favoite wrestler raven and it said he played in the music video.

  • one of the few good songs to come out post reunion, although they fucking ruined the teargarden version. this is a pretty good version imo

  • I love this song. Thanks or share.

  • I have to watch this video to purify my mind after seeing The Smashing Pumpkins "Owata (Short Film)."

  • Okay if Billy Corgan wasn't singing and you just listened to the music carefully...it is clear that Sufjan Stevens wrote this.

  • @ThePolarisVerdict Just figured it out. Horn line at 0:48 is extremely close to the melody and horn lines of Chicago. I feel better now.

  • @ThePolarisVerdict

    Haha.

  • The smashing pumpkins are way more talented than the beatles. They inspired the alternative scene of the 90's more than anyone else. In fact they are probably the most influential band of the 90's, along with Green Day, Offspring, Nirvana and Pearl Jam.

  • @mfnstudioschannel dude, that was the pixies who caused the 90's alternative scene.

  • @meambest Nope, it was R.E.M. caused the 1990s Alternative Rock scene. With out Micheal, Mike, Peter, and Bill there would have never been Alternative Rock.

  • @mfnstudioschannel

listen to Srawberry fields, Lucy in the Sky, You and me going nowhere, and stop comparing

  • @mfnstudioschannel The Offspring?! Really?

  • The live version here is so much better than the studio version. The studio version has way too much synth.

  • yea this is the way they should be moving

  • i thought owata was a vocaloid song!!!

  • The Smashing Pumpkins' NEW album has been confirmed! it's titled Oceania and is set for a November 1st, 2011 release! :D

Definitely the most anticipated album of the year! :D

  • @mfnstudioschannel awesome

  • tab plz

  • this sounds good...the actually recording of it not so much in my opinion...I think he's been going a bit synth crazy recently...The Fellowship was definitely an example of too much synth as the live version with Spirits in the Sky was beautiful

  • Oceania might be that album, idk what Billy's gonna do next, hahaha. You never really do and thats something I love about him (:

  • Billy Corgan is Smashing Pumpkins like Trent Reznor is NIN. The supporting band members are really just fillers to play the music that the respective composers wrote. Don't get me wrong, Jeff Schroeder is a great guitar player, but he just plays the music that Billy writes.

  • @nicholsjoshua15 lol is that fortune teller thing true?! all I heard was that he wasnt able to bring the same intensity he put out for the pumpkins all those years.

  • didn't those 2 horn players play in NO DOUBT?

  • amazing!!

    I love this song.

I'm waiting for a studio version

  • Simply AMAZING!!

  • this is the best version of owata....I like the electric version @played at Viper room also, but I am more interested in the acoustic stuff...

  • he is a legend in my books. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @PowerHeal yeah true, chriss isaak is indeed a legend

  • sweet song=)

  • can't wait for this song on TBK

  • Amazing song, hope it's on Teargarden.

  • ahora si creo que el otro guitarrista chino japones-nacido en usa o lo que sea, era la mitad de la banda

  • No estoy de acuerdo. Esta cancion es bonita y chill. I like James but this type of songwriting is beyond him...not in capability...just in scope. Espero que tenga sentido.

  • owata beautiful sigh this is to me :D

  • This is a really nice song and I wish Billy would do a whole album like this, but its easy to see why Jimmy got bored and quit.

  • No effense to the singer, but I think I like him more with black hair

  • Offence, and his name is Billy Corgan. I think he shaved it because it appears that hes losing his hair anyway

  • @ROCDUC His name is billy corgan, its spelled "offense". He was obviously balding

  • yeah, they're planning to do a tour on Spring. I hope that Ginger will be able to play :)

  • nice nice

  • yeah i hope ginger will be able to play to to=]

  • anyone know if SP will make tours 2010? since they have been working on the album for a while now i know they just making those single realases but still the new drummer and so on ~ ??

  • lo dudo mucho

  • billy does not get any older? I mean Jimmy is getting really bold while billy is exactly the same...

  • @camote327327

thats because billy already looked like a zombie since the Adore tour ;) haha just joking, i'm a huge SP fan

  • wounder if they will make a world tour soon, since all the new tracks...

and anyone know where I can get those? heard its possible to download all tracks for free..

  • @Nevermind900426 ya he's still recording them now, he's going to release them one at a time over the course of the next 3 or so years.

  • fucking great song gives me cold chills

  • Thanks for posting this

  • this is great!

  • Owata beautiful song :D. Think thats what the title stands for isn't it. A play on the phrase Oh what a... "Owata beautiful night" is in the lyrics, can't remember where I read that. Still awesome song.

  • wtf, this is great stuff. why am i hearing this for the first time? Great song!!!!!

  • He's been doing alot of songs live that we haven't heard in studio versions of, including this one, I really hope Billy puts together an album with this, 99floors, no surrender, song for a son, ect... lots of great songs.

  • I love this song.

  • billy is a true genious

    "we forget we are free!"

  • this is so beautiful i ripped it lyricwise off a bit in one song i wrote for lovebanks

but you cant copywrite parts of lyrics muhahahaha

  • HEY HIS VOICE IS BACK TO NORMAL!

  • love love love it! i hadn't bothered listening to much of the new pumpkins stuff because i figured it would never be as good as the old stuff. this has changed my mind.

  • It would be so kickass if the Smashing Pumpkins released an album of songs like this.

  • No doubt Leo, great suggestion.

  • @leoplaysguitar its called teargarden by kaliedascope or however thats spelled.

  • @nicholsjoshua15 How do you know? :)

  • @leoplaysguitar well said.

  • @leoplaysguitar american gothic is the closest to that

  • @leoplaysguitar

They have, its called "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope"

  • @leoplaysguitar Damn man... you gotta tell us where did you get your future reading magic thing... news 1 year later... they are actually doing that.

  • @OzwellX3 Really? No way! I'll have to check that out. I kinda put their new stuff on the backburner for a while and focused more on stuff like Gish, but a whole album of Owata-like songs sounds too good to pass up!

  • @leoplaysguitar Couldn't agree more. American Gothic was a good start, if they could have extended it to 10 songs it would have been glorious.

  • @leoplaysguitar Your fucking dream is coming true my friend! Your lucky to say something in a comment and poof it comes true! Wow nice one buddy!

  • @leoplaysguitar they did, for free! check out their official site for this and a lot more.

  • last show played with jimmy :(

  • This was recorded in November, so no.

  • so the old gang brok up and billy still call the new band smashing pumpkins why?

    well still kool i guess

  • Comment removed

  • @nicholsjoshua15 ok ok and your ass crack is your face i get it geez, its still better with the original band members

  • @Ruddteen Not when Billy played all the instruments himself when mixing the cds. The only member any real fans miss is Jimmy, one of the best drummers in the world. The other members were just there to look good.

  • @84PooBubbles Ridiculous, Sure D'arcy maybe, but James Iha was an essential part of the pumpkins sound thruout the history of the band. Billy was still the main writer but James co-wrote many of their best songs including mayonnaise. Would you want to think of what mayonnaise wouldve been otherwise? probly still great as long as billy's at the helm, but nonetheless that song is perfection. It wouldnt be what it was without James.

  • @whitemagicLain Yeah, I guess my main point is that, like you said, they would have still been great without James. James is a talented musician and was appreciated, and while I can't remember what I said before your reply, a point I'll make now is that if Billy sees a new vision for the band he created and wants a more more versatile sound, perhaps even a sound the old line-up couldn't have offered, then kudos to him. James didn't help write MANY of the old good songs, by the way. Just a few.

  • @whitemagicLain James only contributed the intro/outro to Mayonnaise. Although it was a great addition to the song, Billy wrote the other 98% of that song that we all love so much. In my opinion, you could remove the intro/outro and it would still be the song that I love.

  • @Ruddteen shut up. nicholsjoshua is right.

  • @mattatat819 ok ok blow me

  • @Ruddteen OK OK, what a dumbass!

  • @nicholsjoshua15 whoa whoa whoa dude, you're mostly right except jim morrison being the doors, like whoa....what??? Jim couldnt play an instrument and the doors would have NEVER been what they were w/o the 3 brilliant players/composers behind him, ray manzerak, john densmore and robby krieger. Know the details of the band yr talking about before you say things like that. All the others were head songwriters, jim was a singer, lyricist and cosongwriter with the rest of the band.

  • @whitemagicLain in fact, one of their most famous songs, "light my fire" was written entirely by the keyboardist, i believe, but not by morrison himself. this is an easy mistake to make, as morrison was such a visceral and memorable personality and was easily the "face" of the band. but as far as creative input and control, he was merely a member of the band.

  • dig jimmy's new drums!

  • love it

    is this new one?

wasnt on any of their albums

  • they should keep the solo that they did the first time they played this at the benefit

  • que buen tema, solo espero que el pelado no quite las trompetas en la cancion cuando la graben. beautiful song

  • I love this song, kind of reminds me of Pennies. I really hope Billy will record this..

  • i like this. but no wonder jimmy left if the songs are like this. no challenge :P

  • sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not why he left

  • do you have the whole show up? just curious if i have to look further

  • Nice song..Lets hope Billy keeps hope in his ability now that Jimmy has left..
