Okay so the trailer for this film does something remarkable. It makes a documentary look like a horror. This movie is not scary in the traditional sense, but if you're willing to invest yourself in it, it can become rather emotional.

this is a really interesting documentary, however it has been mis-marketed as a thriller (probably the reason behind its success). The problem this creates is a bunch of little kids watch it expecting a Paranormal Activity-esque movie.
