  • There is one enormous problem with both electric and fuel cell cars. They require vast amounts of energy to generate enough electricity, or to obtain hydrogen for fuel cells; which comes from fossil fuels, so they're rarely used. Making engines more efficient and releasing the trillions of barrels of oil locked up in oil shale and oil / tar sands etc worldwide, is a more efficient and viable option. The oil is there, trillions of barrels of it, we just have to find a way to release it.

  • We can build an Elec. Vehicle in One Day yet we decide to run on Oil for the past 100 years.

  • @tnguyen318 wont be efficient enough for at least 30 or 40 years for use in 99% of the U.S.

  • We can utilize an on-board generator to transport our electr. vehicles for longer ranges.

  • apparently the idea of starting from scratch by inventing some chemical replacement for oil and it's derivatives is one hardly even contemplated.

  • 2 bad renewable energy will not support 7 billion ppl...

  • @chadberry75 Indeed it won't. It's going to be one hell of a ride.

  • "Can't drill our way out of this"

  • Smart guy at 19:30

  • @sangolt88 Actually, douche bag at 19:30. This idiot said all this crap in June of 2008. Gasoline from algae? Not filling my tank with that. Phoenix Automotive? Yeah, real successful car company that I've never heard of. Dumbass should've realized that "dead dinosaurs" still power almost every car, train, plane, and ship in the world.

  • @chuckyko Yeah, lets stick to that old conservative way, never think new, that's probably best. /not

  • @chuckyko Dude, oil is really algae that covered the earths oceans when the world was a slimy place... all that suns energy grew carbon life forms that have been covered and settled. Now we have to dig 3 miles into the earths crust in the ocean to reach these ancient forest and oceans and steal the energy created by the sun

  • At 12:30: Tennessee Republican woman think theres oil that can be drilled to supply the demand "for a hundred year". Scientists say that we'll have to make 10 new Saudi Arabia's to supply the world for the next 30 years.

  • Some politicians scare me.

  • I'm thumbing up because of Rep. Hilda Solis =D

  • Interesting that when it comes to oil - Republicans are interested in supply, but when it comes to the budget - supply i.e. taxes - is totally off limits.

  • Wow - Sensenbrenner is one disingenuous jerk. And 3 x the Saudi's reserve in shale? Considering it takes 1.5 gallons of oil to produce 1 gallon of shale oil he should have said in order to get at this shale oil we will only need 3 x the Saudi reserves to get to it. Not to mention how toxic the process is or how water intensive. You'd literally need nearly 6 gallons of water for every gallon of oil. - Did I mention how much I hagte Shadegg?

  • "Pelosi premium?"

  • Pleeeease stop saying "american", Please?

  • Why are the oil shales being brought up? Any increases of production will not break the cyclical nature of cheap gas more consumption, more consumption expensive gas. Ignorant Americans will stay in that cycle until we use up our own & the worlds reserves. Damn it oil to damn useful for other things to be pissing away by burning it as fuel in our vehicles. With the oil shales we will also being pissing away fresh water to drive our vehicles.

  • thanks for the vid, in japan we are paying US$8 a gallon, same in NewZealand
