  • Only three fingers and whole lotta soul. What a superb guitarist!

  • his left nails are pretty long for a guitar player

  • HA! camera man can't keep up with his fingers...

  • to bad he is not using his pinky to much.......

  • @JustMeAdrian1984 would it make him better if he used his pinky if not what different what is the point

  • @maxpayne123 if he used his pinky thered be another note added in for more speed. but speed isnt what matters though so i could go without :)

  • I learn a lot from him. Nothing but love for Joe.

  • I would do anything to play like him.

  • That lick he keeps coming back to...EARGASM

  • can one tell me whats the name of the song between 0:26-0:33 ???

  • He sounds like Page, Slash, King and Moore all into one this dude is a fucking beast!

  • I'm not a fan of blues

  • i met him and have his autograph on my baseball hat

  • What kind of LP is it?

  • This guy goes hard.

  • Can someone please tell me what kind of Les Paul this is?

  • I love the guy's playing, but I am glad he's cut his hair since this video. Looks a bit goofy here.

  • I can't stop smiling when this guy is interviewed. He's always gonna show something on the guitar to explain what he just said, but he's so in love with the thing that he can't stop playing. Always ends up playing forever. What a passion. Such a perfect technic it's ridicilous. Combined with soul, 30 years of guitarplaying (at the age of 34...) and a love for music that's just insane.. He will be mentioned along with Hendrix, Page, Clapton and SRV in no time.. And what a great guy to!

  • meatloaf

  • Saw him a couple of weeks ago. The man's a star and just loves playing. There's always fools who'll find something wrong with that. Not sure why. Would it help if he trashed a few hotel rooms and covered himself in tattoos? Go see him if you get the chance. Amazing.

  • so clean and smooth :O

  • dang that technique and palm muting!

  • He looks borderline retarded.

  • @ Ande5865 I wish I was that good man ha

  • 6 dislikes?! Must be 6 accordian players, fuck off.

  • @chefo93, countless hours of practice, I mean it takes a lot of dedication!!

  • how do u learn to play like that?!?! O_o i can't imagine me doin' that =/

  • @chefo93 Start simple. Learn the notes and pentatonic scales (standard stuff for blues)....look on youtube for pentatonic lessons. There are only a few basic shapes and positions. Sounds like you need to be shown.

Listen to BB King, Albert King, EARLY Clapton (Bonamassa is pretty much a Claptonite). Once you can associate the positions with the sounds and phrases , you'll see that it's not really that hard. That is, until you get to refining with bends, vibrato and sincere phrasing.

  • @bobgure I know pentatonic scales, I just don't have enough skills, I am not able to make solos like that...mine are always boring and the same...there is nothing interesting in them....that's why I asked how to learn to make such solos and such riffs...to make my playing that interesting. Thank you for the answer...I listen to BB King, but not that much...

  • @chefo93 Everyone, everyone learns by copying, QUOTING other players. What helped my playing and confidence was to take a not too difficult guitar solo from a record and learn it piece by piece, phrase by phrase, lick by lick. Blues playing at it's technical core is learning the stock phrases, the 'cliches' , if you will and gradually making them your own. Every blues player essentially plays the same licks; it's a limited vocabulary. Originality will come . Learn others' solos first. :-)

  • @chefo93 Bonamassa is 'quoting' stock Clapton, Freddie King, BB and Albert licks all over the place. Stevie Ray cut his teeth on quoting Albert King. It's like learning a language.....it's difficult to do on my own. I need people to show me stuff that I never could have figured out on my own. Try not to worry about fluidity and originality. It's already inside of you, but needs to find context, which memorizing solos will help condition. Learn a new phrase and make it yours thru reps.

  • @bobgure Thank you! I shall try it. ^^

  • he sounds great and very down to earth also. not much ego. i like that.

  • Someone please find a tab for this!

  • @1214mackt

You have ears don't you you?

  • @1214mackt Dude ;-) Use your ears!

  • Who is Joe Bonobomansa?

  • Wooow he was fucking fat !

  • @RoxxorBidoune

no, he is not fat you stupid ass !!

if you are gonna post a comment, post something nice.. not mean !!

  • @bluesmaster94 I said he WAS fat, just to remark that now he looks way better

  • @bluesmaster94 Are you fat? Because you seem to be taking that very offensively. He's chubby. Not fat.

  • @TheRealAdamBrown no, i'm not fat xD I know it sounded like I was offended. I just think people should post nice comments, not bad comments

  • @Eugenios Except his voice YOUDUDE56 is right he sounds like the retarted policeman :P doesn't matter though the man can play the shit out of any guitar

  • @Eugenios If you like this, give Guthrie Govan a listen :)

  • @geoboy333 Two different worlds but two great guitar geniuses!

  • no affence to joe. i love his playing and love his music. but does anyone think that he sounds like the retarded policeman abit? =P

  • @YOUDUDE56 Well, you sound like a demented imbecile so I suppose it takes one to know one???

  • @GumatzPotrzebie no. just no.

  • @YOUDUDE56 I always think Ray Romano or Kermit whenever I hear him talk. Fucking ace guitarist though.

Joe is a awesome guitar player and and a great singer. and he is a good man...

    you are just mean !!!!!

  • @bluesmaster94 "no offence to Joe, I love his playing and music". learn to read.

  • @YOUDUDE56 he sounds like john c. riley, haha

  • @YOUDUDE56 I was thinking Kermit D. Frog - monster player, though.

  • @YOUDUDE56 BOOBIES.....

  • @YOUDUDE56 he candive sounds like john c reily!

  • @YOUDUDE56 He sounds more like john c reily when he talks

  • @YOUDUDE56 he reminds me of the retarted guy in the wheelchair from Little Britain, /watch?v=gkeKJJzwiqw

  • @YOUDUDE56

    lol

  • @YOUDUDE56 He sounds like John C. Reilly (Stepbrothers)

  • @YOUDUDE56 He speaks with his guitar, he doesn't use his mouth often

  • @YOUDUDE56 now that you mention it... haha yeah

  • @dannybrains Its Chris Carrdocie he gets in may face!

  • He reminds me of John C Reilly from Step Brothers lol

  • @Klaymator97 ahaha its his voice

  • @dannybrains Lol But what if I want wings?! That's not enough, dad!

  • i hear too much clapton

  • i tabbed it out

  • @F3RALIC hey could you send me the tabs? that would be awesome?

  • Fucking awesome

  • I wonder how loud he is playing for this demo? Think it's his Jubilee? What a great sound... The very definition of "fat"...

  • @Prestostark He usually plays on lower watt combo amps when doing things like this... I've seen him playing Marshalls, and an Epiphone Valve Junior.

  • @UberNoobtard Wow - just goes to show you; it's all in the hands. I always feel like burning my gear after watching guys like Joe...Or, at least practicing a lot more!

  • Ive seen him live and what a hell of an experience.

Great guitarists always have a presence and ol Joe certainly had that.

A concert i will remember for many years.

  • if joe plays one note u know its him

  • i don't know why but i always found him a bit too heavy and clunky for me, but i can't deny that he is a great guitar player, he just doesn't do it for me

  • amazing talent, amazing person, amazing licks....i'm more into Heavy and Thrash Metal, but Joe was always great!

  • It because of all magic is in the finding the special kinda sound, an when the good player start to play even some notes, those sounds like a magic melody. It's all about a sound speciallity. You will agree with me all high rated guitarists are so popular because of their uniq guitar sound and second their personal technics....but guys SOUND.... ^-^ makes magic

  • did he finish his sentence or did he interrupt himself? nah I can't make fun of this guy, if only he wasn't such a badass guitar player

  • @henrychinaski7 your fuckin crazy dude... Joe is the man hands down

  • holy shit, he's really got the duane allman touch down. jesus

  • this guys looks like dwayne dibbley....no rock star in at all.

its about being original like john squire or johnny marr.

its not about flares, but having flair.

  • If you hate his sound, don't even send a reply henrychinaski number 7 ;-)

  • I do not care how many lists you make,...your claims are bullshit.

Derek uses what scales that Joe doesn't?

Tell me the motifs he Derek uses that Joe does not...

  • Henry...

I've been playing guitar for decades. Explain to me how Derek is better? Please,..give a well thought-out explanation of how you have established that.

  • THIS-GUY-ROCKS =D

  • hes an orgy of eric clapton and eric johnson

  • Gibson Les Paul 4 life!

  • a refreshing new talent...old school in the way he plays the guitar to really tone twangle your ears..rather than jus trying to be the fastest.... i really like him a lot

  • Not even fit to strum one of Derek's turds.

  • bull Krummy bear,,,

Joe has as much feel as Derek any day, and has a far wider range of styles under his belt.

  • Comment removed

  • AHAHAH.... that's because Derek is a blues player. He is not trying to diversify his style...He's a blues player... And a muuuch better one than Joe.... Who sucks. Joe has no feel. Listen to the video right above. His timing is terrible.

  • Um, Krummy, Joe started off as a pure blues player, and he is highly respected as one. He can play the shit out of the blues. I think you might not know crap kid...

Also, if you think he has a bad sense of timing, you are seriously on crack. There are plenty videos of him playing in bands on Youtube,..show me where he is off when playing in context?

  • As a matter of fact Krummy, just take a look at the related videos on the right side of the page. See the one called,"Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe (2007)" ? If you can honestly watch that video and claim Joe has no timing or isn't a total master of the blues, then you are a tone death mutha freakin' idiot..

I play the blues,..I am doubting you do at this point..

  • oh shut up you damn genious!

  • check out his blues deluxe video...I think this guy is extremely talented..timing hmm maybe but hes just jamming too..

  • i dont like this guys blues..... timing feels off.....

  • What woahben said!

  • dddoouchebag

  • What kind of wood top is on that les paul? I don't think it's maple.

  • very zz top or jeff beck in here

  • What GQ edition cover were you on?

    Thats what I thought

    Glass houses dickweed

  • holy crap thats awesome every single lick was so catchy

  • @guitardood10

I know what you mean! It's like he took my favourite licks from my favourite tunes and played them one after another.

  • He is awesome! Such great sound and riifs.

  • Comment removed

  • defintely not rehearsed. He improvised = using phrases that u have used before...

  • how the fuck can that be rehersed' the man's a god and can play what he likes when he likes ,like brian may play what they hear in there head and play it free flow coool as

  • See why can't there be guitarist like this these days. Now it's all about banging on instruments, and no solos

  • its the kind of bastards from coldplay that piss me off. thankyou

  • what is that song at 0:30

  • he is improvising

  • but thats incredible!!!

  • I think it's called Bonamassa Lol Random Improv Riff, which, in spite of it's impromptu randomness, sounds just as awesome as much as he likes to say "you know".

  • haha

  • yeah he is improvising

  • yheaaaaaa¡¡ man, your is my idol joe, jaja saludos desde México ¡Adios Amigo!

  • Notice only his top 3 strings go over the top and wrap around the stop bar instead of into it? The others are standard.

Never saw someone do that before on a LP>>>>>

  • does wrapping the strings over the tailpiece affect tone or playability?

  • Yes, it lets him screw the stoptail all the way down (increasing sustain a bit) and and also thereby decreasing the tension in the strings. It makes the 11 gauge strings he plays with have the tension of 10s (by his own admission).

  • JP did it.. before. It makes the sustain better or something . lol

  • Thats some bitchin' improv!!!

  • its great when you just hear a guitarist messing about on the guitar

  • amen!!!

  • @lsw444 wish i could say that was always true.

  • love when you can hear the pick sound with the distortion like van halen

  • i know it is awsom

  • that was fukin sick

  • ce mec est phénoménal!!!

  • Nice licks, and this man got style!

  • Those are some pretty tasty licks !

  • American music history. Rock comes from jazz which comes from blues. They are not the same thing, they are fucking radically different types of music with different off branches and sub genres and dominate different periods of history. And you only get to say 'fuck' if you know what your talking about.

  • rock doesnt come from jazz genius

  • a part of it dose

  • hahaha. epic fail.

  • Your Les Paul is got a unbelievable sharp and creamy sound, Joe... Amazing :D

  • what group is he in?

  • Solo, its just Joe Bonamassa

  • he is awsome

  • blues/rock best style of guitar ever!!!

  • Haha...I'd like to see Joe play some polka :D

  • He's got such great feel

  • he plays old marshalls in his show. he probably sounds great thru anything, tho. i saw him years ago when he brought dozens of guitars and a titanic pedalboard to a small, free, outdoor concert - then again at a small club, where he played the same LP straight into a couple of marshalls all night. first time was i think before he gave up on being a crossover pop star. sounded better the second time.
