IT's just an old film based on Vietnam era politics and environmentalists stuff. Then they throw in a couple lines about 'Terrorism' and 'Shock and awe' and I'm supposed to think of how bad the invasion of Iraq was so supposed to be. I'm sure they hated making movies about it. The movie had some jaw-dropping gorgeous visuals. As a Disney movie with war and bloodshed, it does well. My mom LOVED IT. The humans DID fight in a slightly idiotic manner. xFIRERUSHx, Avatar might not feature the most revolutionary story. But, the telling of that classic story is above and beyond all other competition today, in my opinion. Effects aside, which was a truly incredibly achievement by itself, but Cameron simply made his craft more obvious for everyone to see. xFIRERUSHx, Avatar might not feature the most revolutionary story. But, the telling of that classic story is above and beyond all other competition today, in my opinion. Effects aside, which was a truly incredibly achievement by itself, but Cameron simply made his craft more obvious for everyone to see. Kind of like what Kubrick did with 2001 or Hitchcock did with Psycho. Movies like Avatar or 2001 or Vertigo, they could almost be called, pure film art.

I have been working on my own project with everything I've learnt from watching Cameron's masterpieces. And by god, I am right. Titanic and Avatar are pinnacles of great filmmaking. Like Gone With The Wind and The Wizard of Oz.

Why do so many people hate this movie? It isnt perfect and it isnt revolutionary in story telling, but it is a fun nice movie. What the hell did you all expect? Have we become so judgemental of movies these days?

It's ironic that something like Avatar would have 'an anti-technology, anti-military, anti-corporate' message, given that it's the product of advanced technology, corporate funding, and sells on the basis of its exciting militaristic action sequences.

irvingcsaltzburg, you're a real pathetic loser, my friend. I don't believe that you actually saw Dances With Wolves. Until you actually come up with examples of DWW and how it's so close to Avatar that it's an undeniable rip-off, I don't think you're worth listening to. And Pocahontas was bad IMO, but it was beloved by critics. It's not exactly as great as Snow White... that MGM was trying to beat with Wizard of Oz, but Pocahontas did receive praise. Avatar is a much better executed film, period

You're a blind Cameronite and it's pointless to argue with you. I will say this, if you think those two films are quality storytelling then you must really love Dick and Jane books.
